halloween was one of mirae’s favorite times of year. she got to dress her small daughter up in a matching costume and watch her have a blast. seeing her daughter so happy made mirae over the moon. knealing down in front of her daughter she smile. “miyeon don’t you look so cute” mirae stated fixing miyeon’s small tie. “i’m ready to see unnie eunjung” the small girl squeeled jumping up and down. mirae was proud of how well her daughter was already talking, and how fast she was growing up. shaking her head she stood to her feet. “you be good while i get ready ok?” 

with that mirae rushed upstairs and began getting ready. because of how hard it was to get her hair to this shade of pink, she refused to dye it just for one night. mirae tied up her hair tight and placed one of her favorite wigs on. thankfully she had already pre-styled it so she could hurry back downstairs to her daughter. it wouldn’t be long till the final member of their costume gang arrived.

Checking her painstakingly drawn on mustache out in the last mirror before the door, Eunjung mused about how much more fun it would’ve been to have her father see it. Hwang Sangchul was loudly opposed to the western holiday that clashed with his values. A fact which may have very well lead to her approval of Halloween. But it was not to be with the country constantly needing one of their pillars, apparently.

At least she had hanging out with Miyeon and Mirae to look forward to. She avoided upsetting her slick wig for the Gomez costume with bulky red motorcycle helmet and walked the short distance to Namwon Heights. Even if it were just for fun trick or treating, she couldn’t bear to let down such a little cutie with a sub-par costume effort. So many other houses had gone all out with their decorations, she couldn’t help being jealous. Waltzing up to their front door, she knocked the theme songs familiar rhythm. “Cara Bella!” Palm pressed against the center of her chest as she waggled brows with a barely restrained chuckle. “Where is little Wednesday?”

Yang2 wasn’t really her scene. Between the packed crowds and raging pretension hanging heavy on thick air, (or maybe that was just chlorine from the pool) everything was too much. Nothing short of an apocalypse could keep her from getting dressed up and enjoying Halloween, though. If that meant dancing to edm while drinking ridiculously named cocktails, then so be it.

But even her tolerance had its limits. Sliding through a crush of partiers, Eunjung made her way to the bar. Her feet left the sticky floor as she leaned over lacquered surface to ask the bartender for a glass of water and hope to be heard over the din. Taking their nod as a good sign, the quiet woman slid back with a relieved sigh. The amount of alcohol in her system was a bit more than she was comfortable with. Turned out being under someone’s control for most of her life had deeply turned her against losing complete control of herself.

Passing over a generous tip with thanks for her ice-cold drink, Eunjung took a sip, glancing around at the nearby partiers. The political student liked the idea that you could tell a lot about a person by which costumes they chose. What they liked. How they wanted the world to see them. It was a topic she could ponder for the entire rest of the evening, but she wouldn’t. Instead, she got caught up staring, brows furrowed deep at a lovely woman. Her outfit looked so familiar, like a tingle at the back of her skull, but Eunjung couldn’t quite place it. The more it eluded her grasp, an irresistible need to know swelled until she sidled her way over.

“Hey, this is probably stupid, but I gotta ask.” Gesturing down the others costume, she continued, a teeny bit surprised she was going for it, “who are you tonight? I swear I know it from somewhere and my brain is not cooperating.” Wrapping an arm around her middle, other elbow rested on it while she took another drink. “You make it look absolutely amazing! That could be why any of my thoughts other than ‘WOW’ seem to be malfunctioning.”

not that they were actually going to hex anyone. chanwoo hadn’t read up on this stuff that well, after all, and even if he had, he didn’t want to be involved in sending negative energy into the world. but if eunjung took note of what he was telling her and tried to do it again, then he at least wanted her to know some accurate information.

“so it might be better to use a dark green candle… or even a white one? but if you really want to use black, we can do that.” for this experience, anyway, it didn’t matter. “ultimately, it’s up to you. how mad are you at him? how bad do you want him to be cursed? that kind of thing.” he almost added a cautious i think, but held back and reminded himself that this wasn’t even serious, anyway.

Perhaps going up to someone and asking if they could help you place a curse on your father was a little rude, but she’d long since abandoned proprieties. Besides, Chanwoo had been remarkably down. Whether that meant he actually knew what he was doing, and she’d get the desired result remained to be seen. Much as she tried to shy away from judgement, the look aimed at her co-conspirator from the corner of wide eyes when a shopkeeper addressed him familiarly spoke volumes of it. Okay, maybe he was the real deal.

“Alright. I know I probably look like a goth girlfriend, but honestly, black’s not my color. Let’s see,” thumb and forefinger came to rest on chin as the student considered just how ill her intentions were. Eunjung still loved her father, after everything. She hated that but couldn’t change the truth. “I guess I’d say I have more middling intentions? Like, can we aim in the direction of having him face plant into a podium at some important talk? That feels like a…” trailing off, she surveyed shelves of candles and at last placed index finger on one. “putrid green to me.”

Arching a brow, she looked to the tentative expert for affirmation. “What do you think? Should it be brown like the wood I want his face to collide with instead?” Crossing arms across her chest she regarded the hues once more. “I feel like white is too nice, though. Does that make sense? Aren’t white witches like a thing?” Her knowledge of matters arcane was severely lacking, always having been caught up in the mundane, so her question was again sincere.

“And don’t think that means my anger for my father is so wishy-washy,” she insisted belatedly. “Everything you’ve heard is a hundred percent true. He’s an awful human being and if I found a way to disconnect my lingering paternal attachment I absolutely would!” If she were a bit too adamant in that denial, she’d have to think about it later because she grabbed up a handful of candles and tried to sidestep it completely. “Okie dokie, what’s next?”

Dark eyes glanced again over her costume, half of it laid out on a cushy bedspread, trying to make sure she hadn’t forgotten anything. Unlikely as that was. Halo, gloves, horns, turning to her desk she surveyed some borrowed makeup from Soojin on its lacquered surface, and nodded to herself as everything appeared ready to go. Of course, Eunjung had a few tubes of lipstick and smattering of cosmetics, but for the most part, it just wasn’t something she’d ever gone out of her way to buy. That’s why she’d enlisted the help of Yura for the special occasion. Aside from a simple desire to enjoy her pleasant company.

The seniors costume was honestly rather simple. She’d put it together for a roleplay video ages ago where she’d had a lot of fun with slime and ink. The makeup for that had been lowkey and not at all leaning into the horror aspect of the game it came from since she was there to help people calm down. For the party, she’d been tempted to go all out and enter the contest instead. Not that she could have done it by herself. At the last minute, she’d abandoned the thought, however.

Turning to the other, hands pressed palm down smack center in her chest as she expressed sincerest gratitude to her guest. “Thanks so much for coming over! I’m excited to have some fun together tonight! Even though I’m hopeless with this kind of thing.” Grimacing, she shrugged before narrowing her eyes playfully on Yura. “It’s seriously magic how you get everything so perfect! You’d tell me if you had some kind of fashion powers, right?”

Thankfully, her channels needs meant she had some great lighting set up in her room already and she’d tried to gather some stool and chairs for them to pick from, unsure of what they’d need to get ready. “Okay, since I’m the novice, please instruct me maestro. What can I do to help you here?”

Analytically speaking, the extremely filtered air inside her luxurious home was leagues better than the air outside. But most times it felt like she could barely breathe therein. Stepping out on a warm night, jean jacket held by a crooked finger over her shoulder, Eunjung waved farewell to her stepmother without a backwards glance. The barely elder woman seemed quite content to maintain their distant cordiality and she didn’t have any opposition to it. A calm, steady relationship in her home? Pretty much the greatest blessing in her life.

In her efforts for change, Eunjungs schedule felt packed to the brim, but she cherished these moments to simply get out and go off the script. Impromptu decisions and unexpected encounters were found as she ambled down Yangcheon’s streets, senses keen for anything that could be interesting. And she didn’t have to wait too long.

Dark brows arched high as she spotted someone who appeared a little out of place and confused. The politician’s daughter didn’t much care for listening to rumors but had heard about one of the Zhao’s from the Namwon Heights area who’d been getting lost all around. Part of her wanted to keep going. Historically, offering to help Yangcheon kids find something didn’t end well. But the better part of her conscience put its foot down.

Clearing her throat, a habit acquired after she’d been accused of sneaking up on people one too many times, Eunjung stepped forward and addressed the young lady. “Hey, you’re Zhao Mei, right? Can I help you find something?” A quick incline of her head and she introduced herself in as cheerful a tone as she could muster, “I’m Eunjung. This lovely slice of hell has been my home forever. So, I could be the best local guide you meet tonight.” Sending a haphazard glance around, not having been super aware of her surroundings as legs wandered where they wanted before, she quickly noted which street they were on. “Some city planning sense was sacrificed for aesthetic supremacy around here and I know it can be a lot to navigate.”

Clutching a portable terrarium in her arms as she approached the four towers of starlight complex, she supposed it had been inevitable. Swallowing hard, she squeezed Sweetie impossibly closer, the duffel bag full of pet supplies and a few pairs of underwear or whatever she’d hastily grabbed for herself to survive the next few days heavy at her side. Normally she’d never try to make her precious baby live in such minimalist conditions, but if they were going to be traveling, there wasn’t much for options.

Another moment in that house was out of the question.

So, there she was striding up to Siwoo’s place like she had completely cleared this with him in advance and was not an (adult) runaway coming to impose. At least her outside looked totally calm and in command while her insides threatened to completely reverse themselves. If she could just hold onto that for the next twenty-four hours everything would be good!

Stepping into the elevator, she punched the number for the penthouse suite in the second tower with a deep sigh, vaguely hoping she had remembered that correctly. Knocking on the door of the wrong apartment to face someone else who was not expecting a rude woman with a snake would truly be the cherry on the top of her night.

As pop music droned around her on the ride to the top, Eunjung’s mind focused back on the past few hours which had led her there. It wasn’t like her father and her hadn’t fought before. Especially since she’d come of age, it felt like they ended up in some kind of tiff every time they talked for more than five minutes. She’d tried to block out most of the things he said, but could distinctly remembered throwing a chair into the pool while making the decision to move out. Packing was just a blur, the most important thing was in her arms, however, and that was all that really mattered.

Three sharp raps at the door and she waited for Siwoo, her heart in her throat. The fellow animal lover, aside from being a dear friend, was largely the person most likely to let them both through his front door and stay awhile. “Hey, I tried to text, but my hands kept shaking, so I gave up. You might be wondering why I’m carrying this. It’s because we’ve run away!” Dropping that bomb, she peeked past him to try and see if she was interrupting anything. “Big fight with Dad, didn’t want to leave my girl alone in that house with a monster. Can we come in?” Though her tone implied a question that she didn’t know the answer to, Eunjung took a step forward anyways. “I didn’t fully consider how heavy she would be on the walk here and I think my arms might fall off soon.”

task 01 • social media ver. instagram

First of all, she was always warned about social media by both her parents considering their life of public scrutiny, so Eunjung had never had a longstanding account until her youtube channel. She often hops between accounts and platforms, keeping a low profile, no hashtags, fake names linked to her account etc. Primarily only gives her new users out to friends and mutuals via dms. 

Her main social media right now is Instagram just because that’s what everyone she likes to keep up with uses primarily. Obviously does not bother with a finsta as she still follows a strict regiment of internet anonymity and refuses to put in that kind of work on a smokescreen. You want to find her; you’ve got to work for it.

As for aesthetic… there’s not one. Posts slightly angsty lyrics captions, lots of jokes and pretty average life stuff. A typical post from her looks like:

Full stop does not understand influencer’s and what that entails. Does keep up with politics and compatriots who share her views via social media, but again, keeps as under the radar as possible. She doesn’t post many pictures of Sweetie because she respects the heck out of people’s phobias, but if you are down for private pictures of snakes, she will love you forever and send them daily!

Yes, her un is a mashup of band names. Yes, it’s only partially ironically.

she’s super not a masquerade, club ritz kind of person, so she’s going to be heading to the yang2 countdown party instead and i would love to toss some ideas around for it!!!

on that note, she sucks at makeup so any volunteers to help with that for her costume could be really fun/awkward. whatever you’re more into!

Fingers jabbed at the number pad with rapidly increasing annoyance as Eunjung cast awkward glances over her shoulders in the sunset glow. She’d put in every combination of numbers she could think after their regular code failed the first five times. Racking her brains, she punched in a last-ditch attempt with her stepmother’s birthday and hoped. As the numbers flashed red once more her fist connected with the panel. Well, it hadn’t been hers either so at least that was going for her.

Withdrawing phone from jeans pocket, she stared daggers at the two-word message that spoke volumes coming from the verbose Mr. Hwang Sangchul.

Call me.

It was never a ‘just checking in’ or ‘don’t worry, I’m not going to be home for a few days.’ No, her father only felt the need to send terse commands. Typical. But she’d rather eat her bike than give him the satisfaction. No, the situation called for more… creative methods.

Taking a few steps back, the student eyed up their ridiculous fence. There wasn’t much good she’d gained from the parade of lessons administered in her youth, but she had harbored a particular fondness for gymnastics, until she’d chewed out that coach. “Alright, let’s do this.”

Eunjung stretched out lengthy limbs on the sidewalk. Sure, it had been awhile since she’d done anything with it more than a workout, but so what? Shaking any stiffness from her form, she took a deep breath and a running start for the top of the imposing bars. Iron cut into her palms as the small woman clung from them, kicking her legs helplessly in an attempt to find some purchase and heft herself over. Soles of sneakers slid right from the narrow bars and grip failed as the woman slid down with a frustrated screech. Welp.

Approaching footsteps broke through her haze of annoyance, and she twisted a little too hard to glare at the passerby. Nigh immediately her expression fell as eyes landed on a familiar, beautiful woman. Scrambling to her feet, red palms tried to brush off any dirt and rust from her failed attempt. “Hey Boonyi, uh—” an awkward giggle filtered from pert lips as she sent a look back at the dark house behind her and mumbled, “nice night for an evening, huh?” WHAT!?

Leaning back as casually as possible against the metal betrayer, she tucked strands of inky hair behind an ear. Okay, that was stupid, but maybe if she was super duper lucky, the other hadn’t seen, (or heard), anything. “What brings you to this part of the neighborhood?”

task 01 • social media ver. youtube

I’m going to start off with the biggest social media presence Eunjung has in her life, her youtube channel! Founded on 03/07/2016, it is also her longest standing social media account, but I’ll get into that on another post. 

After being on the internet, she found solace in the ASMR community as a young teenager to escape from the situation of her family and to help calm her down. She’d been jotting down ideas and universe’s she could use for roleplay videos for a few years before finally launching Jelly ASMR. She picked the name on a bit of a whim as she loves the whole jelly aesthetic, (and also candies), but mostly because it wasn’t taken yet. Some influences in her style have been Latte ASMR, VIVA ASMR and Moonlight Cottage ASMR.

Typically, she posts various role playing, traditional and special gaming ASMR videos. She takes special pride in her role playing universe and also her gaming videos, as there’s not a lot of ASMRtists who use video games. There’s always been more of an emphasis on her channel being a creative outlet as well as a helping hand extended to the world. But, recently she crossed the million subscriber mark, something she’d never thought she’d reach, and did a small celebration to reflect that!

The idea of using the channel as a means of revenue had been far from her mind at first, but the slow realization that it could mean some independence changed it into more of a priority to the point that she now also has a Patreon. She mostly offers things like early releases, blooper videos and taking requests from the various tiers. None of them are more expensive than a starbucks drink, as she can’t make herself justify accepting a ton of money for something she does because she genuinely loves it and to help people.

Eunjung also has a small, personal channel where she’ll sometimes post vlogs, music discussions and other various things.

Storming out of her house, pausing only to stick out her tongue as the gate latched shut behind her, Eunjung set off down the streets of Yangcheon Hill. Insider her bubbled a simmering resentment towards ugly stacked cube house after stacked ugly cube house full of pompous wealth proudly on display to the world. The neighborhood in which she’d grown up was a giant pissing contest and when she thought about how much good could have been done with the money used to put in that second pool, she could only walk faster past them.

For a while, she’d been taking things from her own home. An easy task when her family had much more than they needed or could keep track of. Selling them and donating the money had gone a little way towards easing the terrible guilt in her heart over living the way she did. When she’d begun, it had even filled her with an indescribable excitement at the risk and reward of doing something small for good. But now, it never felt like enough.

Power walking around the hill, the intent to blow off some steam had been enveloped by a growing rage and as she reached Yiseong Gardens, Eunjung made a decision. Looking up at the beautiful Yoon family home, she gave a final bolstering nod and slunk towards it, steps light and slight form clinging to the shadows.

It was easy, too easy for someone expecting some sort of security in their way. Maybe she’d even hoped for it to dissuade the potentially stupid idea she had. But no, she made it inside the quiet house without a problem. Even as she crossed the threshold a familiar, nervous, tingle covered every centimeter of skin while she assessed the grand home and its belongings. Fingertips trailed over paintings; footsteps carefully muffled as the thief made her way down halls. The genial family was probably her best bet for getting out of this with only a slap on the wrist, but it was still exhilarating to be somewhere she wasn’t meant to be.

Turning into a random room, Eunjung froze after a few steps, eyes focusing on a member of the family inside. “Shit,” she mumbled under her breath before attempting a backward step and bumping into a table with a resounding thud as it knocked the wall. Shoulders and face scrunched up in a full-body cringe, she cracked open an eye painstakingly slowly to address the person who was actually supposed to be there, “uh, would you believe this isn’t what it looks like?”

also loves animals but especially more unusual ones? thus she has a massive terrarium decked out to the nines for sweetie her 3 year old ball python whom is quite possibly the most spoiled serpent in all the land

has been stealing her fathers personal belongings for a couple of years, selling them and donating the money to charity. he has yet to notice.

started out selling gifts from her parents first and it’s escalated

she gets an allowance from her mother which she supplements with money from her youtube channel to live independently of her father

despite the surface level chaos, eunjung is incredibly calculating and deliberate. if she’s got two different shoes on that was on purpose.

she’s desperate to distance herself from the perfect image she had growing up. really just wants to be her own person

acts quite goofy and angry, but just know that’s her trying her best!!!

sometimes still cringes when things get loud. absolutely hates that she has problems with that, but can rescind into herself in extreme situations

Quick Start Ideas

They spot her struggling to climb over the fence to get into her house after her dad changed the security code so she’d call him.

Eunjung may have had a bit too much to drink and maybe they were kindly offering her some assistance home, (or maybe she was just in their way wtv it’s up to you) except she took it the incredibly wrong way and tried to hit them with a bottle. 

They were minding their own business shopping at the galleria when they saw Eunjung running around with bags full of wigs and the most random assortment of stuff that begs to be checked out. But it only gets weirder from there.

During a stream, she was given an absolutely ridiculous donation and the name of the supporter is very familiar to her. Not aware that anyone in the neighborhood knew what she was doing, it sent her into a bit of a panic. They don’t have to be someone who typically watches her kind of videos and could 100% just be doing it to see her freak out!

All roughed up and clearly avoiding going home to angry parents, Eunjung spotted them leaning around the neighborhood and insisted they stay at her place for the night. She’s a master of sneaking in, so it wasn’t an issue.

Anything involving running down alleys together away from someone. I don’t care what kind of situation is involved, I just really want it okay.
