Days after suspending Louisiana’s U.S. House primaries, Gov. Jeff Landry is facing mounting backlash from residents.
On Monday, the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office confirmed it has received a petition to recall Landry, starting a 180-day window for organizers to collect voter signatures.
The petition was filed by Baton Rouge residents Marian Gbaiwon Hills and Katilyn P. Stepter and spans all 64 parishes. Supporters say the effort stems from what they describe as a “pattern of actions and statements that undermine fair representation.”
Because it is a statewide recall effort, Louisiana law requires signatures from 20% of registered voters. Out of 2,504,416 active voters, organizers must collect at least 500,884 valid signatures by Oct. 31, 2026, according to the Secretary of State’s office.
All signatures must be original and handwritten. Each parish registrar of voters will verify signatures submitted in their jurisdiction. The petition will become part of the public record 90 days after the first signature is filed.

this is fucking insane. two different cases in Florida where pregnant Black women were forced into video call court proceedings, in the middle of labor, laying in their hospital beds, because their doctors chose to go after them for refusing cesarean sections.
the first woman was able to convince them to let her continue laboring unless it became medically necessary, and ultimately chose to go through with the C-section of her own accord later.
the second woman was completely denied autonomy and the C-section was performed against her will.
the white man who prosecuted them defends the decision, stating on the record "I'm real comfortable with what we did here. I hate that she's upset about it."
the two women mentioned here, Cherise and Brianna, are calling on supporters to sign their petition to these two hospitals to:
"Stop forcing pregnant people to have cesarean births.
Take all necessary steps to end discriminatory policies and practices based on sex, gender, pregnancy status, and race.
Discipline the doctors and hospital staff who ignored Doyley and Bennett’s concerns and coerced them to undergo a court-ordered C-section against their will.

Y'all if you're American please email your politicians and senators against the parents decide act. I'm fucking begging because we're reaching a tipping point.
Quick and easy link to both find your congressmen/women and giving you a quick and easy way to copy / paste the message into it. You want to oppose. It's an act that will demand that all major OS makers integrate a direct forced age verification control into all OS.
I received a comment on this that I figured would be very helpful- it's a template for communicating with your representatives. Be sure to use it for reference
Dear Representative [Name],
I am writing to express my strong opposition to H.R. 8250 (The "Parents Decide Act"). As your constituent and a concerned citizen, I believe this bill introduces unprecedented risks to digital privacy and security.
Specifically, I am alarmed by:
SEC. 2(a)(1)(B): Requiring age verification to even use an operating system creates a mandatory "hardware lockout" that ends anonymous computing and forces users to hand over sensitive identification data to major corporations just to power on their devices.
SEC. 2(a)(3): Mandating that OS providers create a system for all app developers to access verification data is a massive security vulnerability. This effectively creates a centralized API of user identities accessible to thousands of third-party developers, many of whom may lack adequate data protection.
This bill does not protect children; it creates a centralized surveillance infrastructure at the OS level. I urge you to protect the privacy of your constituents and vote NO on H.R. 8250.
This is a hell that us down under in Australia are already living in, and it’s not even effective at what it claims to do in protecting children.
Given that, in the wake of this mandatory identification policy, my country seems to be moving to hand over its citizens biometric data, like fingerprints, Face ID files, and identification documents, over to the USA and to ICE to maintain the visa free travel (ESTA) we have, I strongly urge any US resident to send these emails, or make calls.
But if you can’t do that, the most powerful thing you can do is spread the word. Tell your friends, family, coworkers, anyone who can help.
My reach will likely be small, and so I don’t know if this will mean very much in the grand scheme of things, but I cannot stand to see this tracking happen to another population as it did to mine.
And if you think it won’t affect you, it will. All anonymity goes out the window when your accounts can be linked via your personal ID
I wish you all luck in preventing this act from going through.

Hey so there's a proposed regulation by the FDA to not only create a registry of trans women in the US, but also to potentially ban or even criminalize DIY HRT, you can read about that here
In the short term, this is not as dangerous as an outright ban on estrogen. If implemented and then combined with other methods of suppressi
Comments on this proposed regulation are still open and I would STRONGLY urge you to fill out a comment. Public comments submitted this early on have the ability to kill proposals like this, but only if the comments are mostly against it, which at the time of submitting my comment, nearly all of them were in favor
If you have the time please submit a comment, some of these anti-trans public comments aren't even complete sentences and are literally less than five words. We can kill this, we just have to show up
I don't currently have the time or energy to do anything nearly as comprehensive as I did for the last big antitrans public comment period, but I feel it is important to share this. The article included in the post above has several things that are good jumping off points for complaints in a public comment period
Additionally, here is an article about how to write an effective public comment:
I am unable to find the cut off date for the public comments on this. Typically, I have heard of public comment periods being open for either 30 or 60 days. This one has been open since late December

In internet censorship news, the US House of Representatives is doing a markup on a package of bills relating to mandatory age verification online this week (As of 3/1/2026), these bills including the infamous KOSA and the App Store Accountability Act.
To make a very long story short, these bills would force everyone to use their IDs on huge swathes of the net and basically be the end of online privacy and, due to potential prohibitive costs of age verification, likely the end of the indieweb too; even after it's trying to pull itself up from the hole it's been stuck in.
It's not going for a full vote until after markup, but if we can stop it there, we should.
Here is a list of the members of the committee marking this bill up, each of their pages has contact info on it, it's worth calling them all if you can, but especially if they're in your district (Or you can convincingly lie that they are) because this affects us all.
Here's a call script provided by the Stop Internet Censorship Discord, if you need it, but either way light up those phones over the week, because holy fuck, do we need to kill these bills if we want to save the open web.
Because. what they were planning on doing to Discord, they want to do to everywhere, where we cannot escape it.
To my Canadian followers, here is a petition on the House of Commons website aiming to revoke permissions that would allow ICE offices to operate on Canadian soil, and to cancel funding and subsidies to Canadian companies who are arming ICE agencies with services, goods, and surveillance technologies that would further enable the lawlessness and abuses that ICE has committed. When you sign, you must click on the confirmation email link that will be sent to the email you sign with in order to verify your signature, otherwise it will not be counted.
For my non-Canadian followers, please share this petition and hopefully this will further the reach to other Canadian users on this platform. It is abominable that any company in this country help or in any way facilitate the unconstitutional and dehumanising acts that ICE has done.
In my city of Vancouver, we have been protesting and boycotting Hootsuite, a social media platform that has a $2M USD contract with DHS providing them with social media services from 2024 to 2029. Hootsuite claims they don't use tracking or surveillance with their tools, but the mere fact that they have chosen to work with the violent group in whatever social media capacity, despite previously *turning down* a contract with them back in 2020, is egregious.
Jim Pattison Group is a enormous conglomerate also based in Vancouver, owned and run by one man, Jim Pattison. Pattison previously considered selling an industrial building in Virginia to ICE for them to use as another "holding and processing facility," or more accurately, a goddamn concentration camp, but because of backlash he reversed that decision. Thank fucking god for that, but that does not mean he won't consider it again in the future.
In Ontario, ICE ordered 20 armoured vehicles from a Brampton firm called Roshel to the tune of $7.3M USD. Canada should not be arming a violent group that has shown itself to be nothing more than a racist group of masked kidnappers and power-tripping thugs that has violated the rights of US citizens and violated numerous court orders.
I'm disgusted that there are Canadian companies that are willingly partnering with DHS and ICE despite the carnage that has been documented over the last year. It is exactly why I've signed this petition and am sharing it with you. Do not let any Canadian companies think they can rest easy by choosing to work with a violent group that is terrorising, abusing, and murdering US citizens of all walks of life, all at the orders of a fascist government run by abusers and tyrants.
Due to even more unexpected and frankly overwhelming life events I will be delayed in my return to this account. By the end of May or the beginning of June I should be back, but until then I will be simply too overwhelmed to continue on as I have. I apologize, but I had no way to foresee any of the things going on right now, and I need to focus on keeping myself afloat first and foremost. I am still hoping to get an expanded list of the groups I follow for news and action alerts added to the pinned post at some point soon
South Korea’s Former President Yoon Suk Yeol Sentenced to Life for Insurrection
Former South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of leading an insurrection linked to his declaration of martial law in December 2024.
The verdict was delivered by Judge Jee Kui-youn at Seoul Central District Court and broadcast live across the country. Prosecutors had sought the death penalty, but the court imposed life imprisonment…

"The former Prince Andrew, now Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested Thursday [Feburary 19, 2025] for suspected misconduct in public office after revelations in the Epstein files. King Charles III's younger brother was arrested on his 66th birthday, about two weeks after files released by the U.S. Department of Justice prompted an anti-royal organization to call for police to investigate documents indicating that Andrew shared confidential government information with the late American sex offender when the royal worked as an British trade envoy.
The report of Andrew's arrest — on his 66th birthday — came after multiple police vehicles were seen arriving Thursday morning at his new residence on Charles' Sandringham estate in the eastern English county of Norfolk..
While earlier allegations about Andrew's actions in the Epstein files largely centered around the former prince's alleged encounters with young women in conjunction with Epstein [note: holy euphemism, Batman], the anti-monarchy group Republic called earlier this month [February 2026] for a formal investigation over his actions as a British trade official.
Emails among the millions of documents released by the U.S. Justice Department on Jan. 30 appear to show the former prince passed on confidential reports on his visits as an official British trade envoy to Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam, including details of investment opportunities.
One email thread shows that after his travel to Asia, on Nov. 30, 2010, Mountbatten-Windsor forwarded official reports on his visits, sent to him by his then-special adviser Amit Patel, to Epstein, just minutes after he received them. There was no message from the then-prince to Epstein accompanying the forwarded message.
Another email exchange between the men, the following month, appears to show Mountbatten-Windsor sharing files he describes as "a confidential brief" on potential investment opportunities in southern Afghanistan where British forces were based at the time."

Note: I know this isn't the sexual assault charges. That sucks. But I will take anything that gets this rapist in jail - and hopefully, there will be more charges to come, as this arrest builds precedent and momentum and attention and even more public rage to his crimes.
And honestly, I wasn't sure I'd ever see a world where the UK police arrested a British royal. This is literally unprecedented in modern times. It is, in and of itself, a huge deal. The former Prince Andrew getting arrested is genuinely not something I was sure we'd ever get to see.
Today was an important step in Victoria’s journey toward justice and bodily autonomy for people born with variations in sex characteristics.
The Victorian Legislative Assembly debated the Health Safeguards for People Born with Variations in Sex Characteristics Bill 2025- a long‑awaited reform designed to protect intersex children from unnecessary and harmful medical interventions.
The bill passed the lower house without opposition, and will return to the upper house for debate in 2 weeks.
Victorian Parliament has passed legislation protecting children with variations in sex characteristics from unnecessary medical procedures.
Victoria is now the first state — and the second jurisdiction in the country after the ACT [Australian Capital Territory] — to enshrine these protections in law. It joins only a handful of countries around the world that have implemented protections from medically unnecessary/ non-consensual surgeries for intersex people.
Independent assessment panels will oversee proposed treatment plans for children born with innate variations of their sex characteristics, with additional support for parents and clinicians.
This bill was brought to my attenion by @sneepity-snoop-snorpity-sneep in a reblog on another post of mine. I wasn't able to caption all of the screenshotted text they included in their addition, so I felt unable to reblog it. They brought up several incredibly good points and mentioned a proposed piece of legislation that I had not yet heard about. They also raised concerns about the ways that efforts by the Trump Administration to target passports will compound the danger of the SAVE Act. This is a very, very important topic. I know it is something that has been discussed largely by transgender people in many spaces I am in since the beginning, but it extends far beyond those who are directly targeted by executive orders and other more blatant laws. Staffing cuts, data leaks, and apparent instances of impersonation to damage the validity of passports as a form of identification are one more reason to be as loud about voter suppression bills as you can be. It is scary, especially when our voices go unheard and it feels like our actions are not taken seriously by those who represent us

Summary of S.3283 - 119th Congress (2025-2026): Exclusive Citizenship Act of 2025
The legislation – S 3283, the Exclusive Citizenship Act of 2025 – is a very disturbing bill that, if passed, would disallow dual citizenship in the United States. This would have several incredibly devastating consequences for millions of Americans. One consequence of note that is not immediately apparent is the effect that this would have on the population of eligible voters in the United States, especially if proposed voter suppression laws like the SAVE Act were to be passed. I want to make it clear that the chances of S 3283 being passed are very, very slim. According to GovTrack, a website that uses a variety of methods to determine how likely a bill is to pass into law in the US, it has roughly a 3% chance of passing. The bill is authored by a single Senator, and only has one co-sponsor. Neither of the two are in the Senate Judiciary Committee where the bill needs to be scheduled for a hearing. This bill will likely never be scheduled in committee. That said, it still doesn't hurt to reach out and let your legislators know that you want them to oppose this bill in the case that it ever comes up. Let them know you are opposed to measures like this
Below, I will provide a call script that can double as an email template demanding your legislators vote against S 3283 or any legislation that threatens dual citizenship should it come before them

I am reaching out today to demand that [Representative/Senator blank] speak out to oppose efforts by their peers to threaten dual citizenship in the United States. Dual citizenship is one of the things that makes America what it is: a land of many peoples. Senator Moreno has introduced legislation to take away that building block out our great country. I expect the [Representative/Senator] to vocally oppose that legislation – S 3283, the Exclusive Citizenship Act of 2025 – if it ever comes before them for a vote. I also expect them to oppose any other attempts to dismantle our country's colorful, wonderful history by threatening dual citizenship.

YES, YOU CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT DISCORD'S AGE VERIFICATION
But while cancelling Nitro and boycotting Discord CAN be a form of protest, it sadly may not be effective.
Why? Bc their hands are tied due to the recent trend in age verification bills worldwide.
All of the bad internet bills. One website.
This site helps send emails to your lawmakers to oppose certain Internet bills in the US, many of which would push age verification if passed
HOWEVER, calling your lawmakers on the phone is most effective.
If you're not in the US, you can still help by spreading the word.
The only way to prevent age verification (On Discord and ALL other social media platforms) is to prevent the bills that are forcing it. Look at the site for more info
While there have been age verification laws put in place in other countries, in the US there are currently such laws in only three states, and I believe one is not in fact while there are appeals and lawsuits going on.
Discord is obeying in advance, which is the worst thing to do when dealing with encroaching authoritarianism.
And yes, age verification laws are a form of authoritarianism, using the power of government to quash free expression under a pretext, in this case the pretext of protecting children.
They have already started walking back the impact of their new rule and how it will be implemented, and that is a direct response to how many people have let them know that it's not OK. You have to keep doing that in addition to talking to your lawmakers about why age verification schemes are inherently dangerous without actually providing the claimed benefit, and that if children need to be protected from online content, that's the job of parents.
I want to make a note on the comment about phone calls being more impactful: this is true, but a voicemail and calling during business hours are equal in impact.
The majority of federal lawmakers (that would be federal Senators and federal Representatives, not state ones in this regards (though contacting your state legislators about age verification laws is also important, that is just not the topic at hand here)) have a voicemail box.
There are one or two I have come across that do not, and some of them will let them fill up and not empty them for weeks at a time. These are the minority, though.
If you want to reach out with a phone call but are too overwhelmed by the prospect of talking to a person, call outside of normal business hours. Most offices operate in EST, and have hours ranging anywhere from 7 or 9 am to 5 or 7 pm. To my knowledge, all offices are closed on the weekend and on federal holidays. I usually call my legislator's offices on Saturday and leave voicemails on every topic of import to me.
Most voicemails will limit you to roughly one minute and thirty seconds before they cut you off, and you will need to leave your name and address (with zipcode). Be prepared for the possibility of being called back if you leave a phone number. I typically only leave an email address to avoid unexpected phone calls, despite my reps requesting a phone number.
Kansas is working to push a duo of devastating, extreme anti-transgender bills through the state's Congress right now using methods that skate around hearings and oversight to rush a vote. The bills, among ID changes that would forcibly require the re-issuing of any driver's licenses with changed sex markers, would also allow for citizens to act as bounty hunters in private businesses to apply the bathroom ban that this bill would create. This would be the first instance of a bathroom ban bill in the US being forcibly applied to private businesses, and it would essentially cut transgender people out of public life by denying access to almost any public restroom facilities that are not single occupant. It is estimated to be likely to pass the House and the Senate, though the Governor of Kansas, a Democrat, will likely veto the extreme measure. It is unclear if a bill this extreme would be able to get a veto-proof vote, even in such a steep Republican majority. The bills in question are SB 244 and HB 2426
The bill, which is racing through the Kansas legislature, stands a significant chance of passing the Senate.

I am reaching out today to demand that [Representative/Senator blank] vote against SB 244 and HB 2426, should either come before them for a vote. There are bigger issues facing Kansans than where someone pees and what letters are on their ID. The [Representative's/Senator's] constituents can't afford food, rent, or healthcare. Jobs are few and far between. Tell them to get their priorities straight, do their job, and stop trying to make their hate everyone else's problem. I regret to bring this back with a devastating update: the Kansas legislature was able to rush this through a vote and pass it. The governor will likely veto it. In the meantime, putting pressure on your Kansas legislators is something you can do if you live in the area. Continue to demand that, should there be an attempt to overturn the veto on this legislation, they not support it
“They're using very overtly anti-democratic measures to pass all this stuff because they know that it's unpopular.”
To my understanding the Kansas bills are still awaiting a possible veto vote. I am updating this post to add the information that other states are considering similar measures. Due to the very short notice nature of many states' Congresses (if they give less than a day of proper notice, after all, activism and advocacy groups can't organize to raise a stink about unpopular legislation), the number of states raising bills like this, and my own current life circumstances I am unable to provide immediate scripts for these bills. I will, however, provide the states and bills in question for any residents of those states to look into if they are able.

It is incredibly difficult to stay on top of state legislation by yourself. In my state there is a Senator who will submit literally thousands of bills each session, knowing that thousands of them will not go anywhere. He's the worst offender, but he isn't unique. My state's Indivisible chapter has groups designed to keep people informed on which bills are actually a true risk and which are not. It was not advertised anywhere on their public facing social media for security reasons, so if you are looking for tools like that you may need to reach out to local organizing groups like Indivisible chapters or trans rights groups yourself. Every state is incredibly different, and that makes it hard to collect and share information for states I am unfamiliar with
