“Would you offer to be his guard?” Her expression remained neutral. “It is for your mother that I have given him these chances. Raguel has long since deserved capital punishment.”

“you’re trying to tell me that you’re god ?” there was a pause followed by a dry laugh, it was hard to tell what the other wanted, maybe it was a dare or a prank — on the other had it was easy to see the brunette didn’t care, nor did she believe her. “whatever it is you’re trying to pull i’m really not in the mood.”

“i know,” was all she could offer. “your transition’s been hard on you. it’s why i’m here.” she was in no rush for davina to believe her. it didn’t matter, in the end. “raguel will face consequences for what he did to you. that might not bring you comfort, or fix it, but i couldn’t lead you to believe that such a heartless act would go unpunished.” there was a pause, a thoughtful expression. “and if you wish to pursue salvation, i suggest seeking out an angel named uriel. don’t worry -- his manners are much more developed. he’s just.. a little eccentric.”

it felt like her head was on the verge of exploding, not quite able to tune her new senses. davina tried to listen but with the noises from around them it was her to distinguish. “who the hell are you ?”

it was clear the other was struggling, but she didn’t want to risk belittling her strength, so she chose not to mention it. she wore a soft, amused smile at the phrasing of the question -- because of one word in particular. “i have been given many names,” she began to explain. “and there are many gods, but i created the very earth we are standing on.”
