I GOT A FUCKING RAISE THE POTATO WORKED WTF
This potato works. Every. Fucking. Time.
Reblogging because it’s a damn potato and I want to encourage people to assume potatoes are magical.
Let’s do this.
YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN (1974) — dir. Mel Brooks
This little kakapo chick was found unresponsive after being accidentally trodden on by their foster mom. A vet intervened with CPR...
63 days later, here is the little guy, fledging, thriving and absolutely gorgeous
lets be so beautiful and nocturnal and endangered but with promising new numbers with mama
Last kakapo egg of the season and an incredible 95 known chicks - the total may be as many as 106. I don't have a word for how amazing this is for the kakapo as a species. Big congratulations to the birds themselves and the people working so hard to help them recover their numbers.
I have no words. 105 chicks is beyond anything I had hoped for this season. The kakapo recovery team have outdone themselves, as have the kakapo themselves to get this stunning result. Assuming most of the chicks survive, and there's no reason why they shouldn't, this is a huge boost to the kakapo population
*Loud, thudding noises*
Minnie, sighing and pinching the bridge of her nose: What was that?
Chico: A box fell down the stairs.
Minnie: That sounded a lot louder than just a box.
Chico: Harpo was in it.
KAKAPO BABIES!!!!
Oh my god, 96 known live chicks. This is incredible
Holy crap, guys. 84 known chicks. 84. And there may be as many as 99 of the feathery little miracles.
Now, kakapo chicks are maybe not the prettiest babies on the planet (I mean they are pretty cute in this picture) but every single one is very significant when it comes to the survival of this species that was nearly wiped out due to humans being dicks. It gives me a little hope that we can also help them recover.
be sure to leave out milk and cookies for brutus tonight
You can leave as many cookies as you want but he’ll only et two
this remains the funniest addition anyone’s made to one of my posts
78 presumed chicks. This is amazing, astounding and wonderful. There is every possibility of more this season as well. News on these birds is one of the only pieces of good news I've been hearing recently and it lifts my heart. Every hatched chick is vital to the survival of this species which humans came so close to wiping out.
crawling out of the drafts
Those wonderful little birds have done it! With very likely 59 kakapo chicks already, they have beaten the record set by their previous season and there are still eggs that could hatch *screams in sheer delight*
