Hearing it from someone like Mingyu made him even more happy though especially since he said it to his face just like this. A sincere smile tugs on his lips when he listens and he thinks to himself that he's far too lucky, having someone look up to him and his group like this. "You flatter me too much!" He starts, words followed by a laugher he hides behind his hand. "I'll share with you I'm sure, I like to hear what people have to say about the music I make, after all I'm not only making it for myself, I also want to know if what I do can make other's interested. When I've accomplished both writing something for me and my fans then.. I think I'm happy." There's another small pause there but for a smile this time, eyes taking a quick glance at the wrist watch on his left arm. "You wouldn't happen to be hungry? I'm starving and I don't want to leave you here when we're having such a nice conversation. It's my treat if you want accompany me and eat?"

            Success - sweet, sweet success. Albeit it is apparent that the elder is tired, perhaps even feeling forced to go, the giant knows it’s what’s good for them both; they haven’t had dinner, haven’t even had the time to shower – they’d returned just a few moments ago from another show, and the other members were either instantly asleep, or already out. Unfortunately for him, his travel buddy Baekhyun was gone. But, on the bright side, he had Yixing. The man was always one of members who would stay in at night, and Chanyeol was determined to change that. “Aaggh – tsk, you know, I wouldn’t ask to go out if I didn’t feel like we needed to! My stomach is so empty..” The young rapper trails off as he showcases his “empty” gut, shirt lifted to his chest. He even goes so far as to don a pitiful expression, trying to replicate the growling in his stomach, with his mouth. “Gggrrrh – hear that? He’s hungry. Let’s get dressed.” 

            Like the hungry, excited child that he is, he’s dressed up in no time, waiting by the doorway in his two layers of just a sweater and his black hoodie. His pockets are stuffed with money, and his stomach is completely wiped out, ready for some good takoyaki.

« 张艺兴¹⁰ » --Hunger is what eventually had made him give in but watching the younger be so excited is what makes him follow through. A small smile finds its way to his face, tugging on those lips that had been forming a small frown even. Japan is pretty just like Korea but it's not home unlike China. And Yixing silently swears to himself that the next time they visit China he'll be one forcing Chanyeol to go out. He gets dressed quickly, thinking there's no second to waste especially after the other's imitation of his own stomach growling. He didn't need more indications that they had to go out, so he easily slips into a comfortable jacket, hotel key and money in his pockets as he steps outside and follows his member. Worry seems to leave his mind as soon as the elevator doors open and suddenly he grows impatient, eager even to get the food he needs. Or well, the food they both need.

"I'm buying." He grins now, hand grabbing Chanyeol's sleeve to pull him along. Out of the hotel, out to the night greeting them with street lights and neon signs. "You ready to eat until you drop? Is that even possible with you.."

merry christmas, lay hyung. i’m not afraid to say how proud i am of you for this thriving year that was 2016. from your solo debut to your movie role opportunities, it makes me curious how much you’ll prosper as we enter the next year. only time will tell, though. thank you for everything you’ve done despite your absence in some instances throughout the year. you’re happy and that’s what the rest of your members love to see. also, take the time to rest this upcoming holiday, okay? merry christmas and have a happy new year, i love you.

Ah Kyungsoo you're always so sweet to me even if I can be quite the pain sometimes. You know I miss you all when I have to go away but it's never permanent and I'll always come back. Yixing hyung, lay hyung, bubba. I know it hasn’t been long that we’ve been close but- I hope you know that you’re really dear to me. Even if you like to joke and say you’re leaving back to China, tsk. Regardless of your poor choice of jokes I do miss you when we have to separate on different schedules. You’re like a comforting blanket, someone that’s level headed that I can go to for all the advice I need. Honestly you never run out of words of wisdom. You also always put up with my wild self and that itself deserves a medal. I hope you can lean on my shoulder more too though. I’m here for you as well to vent, to just talk, to watch dumb videos. The older idol had never been one to go around throwing compliments, sugarcoating or being dishonest to people just for the sake of their spirtual welfare. She did not find it kind or helpful in any way to comfort someone with a white lie. So, when she heard her fellow label mate complaning on his language skills, the woman found it easy to speak about true facts. His progress was visible due to his hard work and ambition, things that she admired. That was something she could’ve never achieved had she been in his shoes and the brunette was rather proud of Yixing and anyone who had been able to reach such advanced level, despite the obvious barriers. Knowing all too well how he felt, since she had previously witnessed her friend’s- Tiffany’s- struggle, she hoped nothing more than for him to feel less troubled about it. 

“Aa, please don’t worry. You are really doing great, albeit a little clumsily.” a small chuckle fell off her rosy lips, hand coming to cover her teeth lazily. But then his humbleness caused her eyes widened ever so slightly in surprise. “I am glad to hear you are still eager to improve yourself. And I am sure you will get the wished results. Yours determination is showing.” tilting her head to the side, Taeyeon offers an assuring smile whereas her right palm grips his left shoulder into a small squeeze.

« 张艺兴¹⁰ » -- His years in Korea were piling on top of each other, every memory stacked and treasured in the back of his head. There had been a lot of progress in his language skills, he wouldn't lie about that. But admitting to being good at something was something he only did when he was completely sure of his skills, certain that he was in fact good. Korean was something he was far from good at then, still struggling with words and phrases he has never heard before. A foreign language refusing to stick to his impairment. Taeyeon had been a big idol to him before, her and her group's music spreading joy to him and his friends starting from years ago. She had been a big inspiration for him, a way for him to see where he could end up if he worked hard. And so he did, he spent countless of nights in a practice room, dieted, took care of his body in a healthy way and worked his way to debut. EXO had been a blessing and the only hard part left was the language.

Her kind words didn't fail to make him smile however, hearing that his very own idol had hopes for him to become better only encouraged him more. "You're right I want to improve myself, I think that when I know korean fully I'll be able to connect better with the fans. Xingmis are already so patient with me and they often bring signs in chinese which I appreciate a lot. China used to be my home now I live in every single one of their hearts! Noona would know how it feels, yeah? Fans are the base of everything, they always hold me up when I need it, the least I can do is study hard for them."

There it is again — that soft smile dancing upon his features when the voice reaching his ear becomes so jovial. Staying in touch with the remaining members across the sea keeps him from missing them too much, or so he likes to believe. He hasn’t forgotten. Quiet nights spent by himself are far from the lively dorm life and while some things are inconvenient with so many people around, he wouldn’t have changed anything. The only positive trait about his new life compared to the dorm might be the fact he doesn’t have to line up to get to the bathroom.

“We need to go… Eat and have fun all day. Just one day would be enough…. Can’t be too greedy. Are there good movies coming out soon? Aside from mine, of course.” An imaginary hair flip takes place and silence ensues before the familiar, high-pitched laughter slips past Zitao’s lips. “Ayo… Yeah, I know the fun. Not quite the same compared to a movie theater… It’s a real success if you persuade everyone to watch the same channel, huh.” He leaves the comfort of his seat and steps closer to the massive windows that open up a view above the city. “I’ll keep you updated too, but I’m mainly staying in Shanghai for a while now. Dropping  by to Beijing too…” 

« 张艺兴¹⁰ » -- Zitao wasn't the only thing that Yixing missed in China. Just the way his home country called for him whenever he was sad had many times made him wonder why he didn't visit more often. The answer was schedules. He rarely had a weekend or just two days off to do anything anymore. And while he loved it, loved the concept of living like an idol, loved the way he was blessed to have a life like this.. sometimes he wished for those two days to exist. Two days to only stay at home and relax or perhaps even visit another place for a few hours. The possibilities were endless and he was awaiting those two days to just happen. Until then, normal schedules took over his life like a storm and all he did was follow along happily.

"I'll be sure to watch your movie, don't worry. We've had many members participate in different dramas and so recently. Baekhyun and Kyungsoo seem to be hitting it off as actors and even our precious Jongin got a role in a web drama." To their faces, Yixing is bad at praising, he's actually quite quiet off screen and leaves it to other members (ahem Baekhyun or Chanyeol) to keep the conversations going between them all. "I'd want to go to Beijing, that's where I'd celebrate my new years if I could. I heard the fireworks are to die for. Do you know just where you'll be spending new years?"

« 张艺兴¹⁰ » -- Korea had so far been one of the prettiest countries he had visited but that was the problem. He felt like a visitor in his own home even though he passed the stage where his own bed felt like a hotel and now only felt a little weird when he didn’t get a joke or something. Being laughed at for lacking skills in a language he should know by now only made it worse. When he had told his noona about it, it had been more of a funny story but ended sadly by him with a frown on his face. Maybe something was wrong with him since he couldn’t grasp this language he had been speaking and singing for years now. Her words came like a wave of comfort embracing him like no one ever had done before. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with you. A smile forms upon his lips as he hears that, head tilted to the side as he looks over at her petite physiques, hand reaching to rub the back of his neck. “You don’t have to say that, noona. It’s been years, my korean should be much better, no? But it is alright, I will practice and become more skillful!”

« 张艺兴¹⁰ » -- It was 10:45pm in a hotel room in Osaka Japan. Yixing is exhausted, tiredly leaning against the wooden panel next to the full sized mirror, playing with the phone in his hands when Chanyeol had laid out the suggestion to go out. At 10:45pm. Of course he had tried to kindly reject the offer, gaze focused on the soft bed he was ready to lay down in and sleep until the next morning. “Isn’t Baekhyun free?” He mumbles, shoving his phone into his back pocket before taking a few steps forward, towards the bed, waiting for the taller to scoot over and make room. Those two would always go out together, always do things, always be… loud. And while Yixing didn’t mind that at all, tonight was not the night to go out for him. One glance out the window and a noise from his stomach has him freeze in his actions and he sighs. A sigh of defeat. “We’ll go out if we can go somewhere I can eat.”

an undeniable feeling of pride washes through him and he unconsciously straightens up; the idea that the older remembers and recognises him will soon have him push out his chest to form an entirely cartoon-like dignified posture - he better not take it that far. seconds ago he created an odd dance resembling a dog chasing its own tail because of the unwanted bug on his shoulder, he’s in no position to get cocky. He relaxes into a breathy laugh, collecting his thoughts to produce a reply. » yes, that was us! I think both of our groups were kind of participating in many performances, especially with a few popular female groups. I know most of us tried to copy their dances and probably ended up looking silly. « not to mention they are probably caught in the moment on multiple pictures taken that night. » I haven’t had the opportunity to congratulate you on your solo debut as well. the songs were really good and it’s clear as day that you’ve worked very hard. are you preparing anything else for the upcoming year? « in hopes he doesn’t sound too noisy, he’s quick to form an apologetic smile. » of course, if it’s a plan in the making or a secret, I’ll hold back any questions. «

« 张艺兴¹⁰ » -- "We just came back with a christmas special!" It had been quite the year, solos and comebacks with the group to prepare for, shows to attend and fans to please. But it didn't have to feel so hard, especially not with the support of his group and in this case the support of someone from another group. "Thank you so much for the congratulations I've been working hard I hope I can show more of my hard work in my next song.. I'll make sure to keep you updated, maybe we can keep in touch on kakao? Oh but I always feel so embarrassed talking about myself!" His hand waves dismissively in the air between them, chuckle rising from his throat as he shakes his head. It had been nice with the attention in the beginning but lately Yixing had been so overwhelmed by all the positive response, he definitely felt like giving some back. "I always watch your group's dance videos. The ones from the practice room I suppose I should say to clarify. You're all so good and in sync, it's fun to watch!" If it wasn't clear already, his passion was dancing. Dancing, singing, combining the two and making a great stage for his fans. "I sound like a fan but I've seen many of your dance videos, including the one where TWICE challenced you to dance girl group dances, that was also impressive!"

The man on the other end of the call seems a tad amused. His eyes rest upon the view he has from the hotel room when the familiar, calm voice corrects his earlier words — just like before. “Right, right… I guess that counts as growing up too. But so are you.” Silence ensues, but only briefly. The call reminds him of the numerous times he used to sit in his room and talk to his family on phone. This time too, he’s calling home. 

“Aiyaa, why are you whispering?” His voice carries no malice, the corners of his lips tug upwards. He misses them too. “Ge, I need you to tell me when you’re coming, preferably beforehand. The chances will be better… Won’t be late,” he assures sinking deeper in the cushions of his seat. “I miss you too… Hopefully you’re all in the city when I get to visit Seoul next time.” So close, yet still so far away. The hour long gap between the time zones proves it too. Lucky for them. Right? 

« 张艺兴¹⁰ » -- Even though it had been one of the hardest things ever to see a few of his member go, it had its perks that they were so far away. Being close would've probably caused more problems, drawn more attention, been more of a hassle. They could've bumped into each other or been seen hanging out. Many things had made Yixing sad when Zitao left but many things had made him thankful. The younger going after his own dream, doing things for himself. Yixing would always look up to that, admire it from afar.

"I'll make sure to tell you weeks beforehand!" He means it even though it sounds like a silly joke, voice spinning into more and more of a less serious tone. "We need to eat duck again and.. and go the movies like we were supposed to! Renting a movie isn't as fun, ah. The big screen TV is always hogged and taken here and if it's not.. someone hid the remote. You know how it is!" he doesn't mean to be a bother or anything, doesn't mean to remind the other of what he's left, he just wants to confirm that his friend hasn't forgotten absolutely everything. "I'll treat you then since I am the oldest."

« 张艺兴¹⁰ » -- “Personally I think I shouldn’t lie at all.” His arm reaches out, elbow nudging the taller’s side before he scoots further away on the couch and leans against the cushions. Interviews had always been something that Yixing found himself nervous before. The not knowing what questions would be asked, the thought of saying something stupid. Of course he was usually able to relax after a few questions and the hosts were always very kind and welcoming. “Exaggerating a little never hurt anyone though? Like saying I barely work out when it’s clearly visible that I’ve been living at the gym to look good for our comeback?” This time he’s only joking, words followed by a small laugher as he shakes his head. “You’re right, Chanyeol. Hyung needs to be better at lying, even thoooough… lying is bad!” He wags a finger in the air, smile still tugging on his lips.
