Holy fcking shiet I am SO LATE. This took a lot more time than I expected, I was so close to drop it 😭😭😭😭😭 But again I always want to actually finish an art challenge for once so I’ve tried my best! I hope you guys don’t find it weird when I’m this late 😭

At first, it was meant to stop at Roku grieving, but I didn’t want the birthday theme to end with a sad note, so I… um… extended a little bit. Apparently I had to pay it with my so very little free time 🥹 (It was worth it anw). And fck tumblr for limiting the amount of postable image in a post, I had to improvise

I think Roku would be playful and figure that since his friend has an arrow, he wants one too.

The reason I drew Roku's hair short is 'cause I reckon Gyatso got the arrow not long after this guy started learning airbending officially. By the timeline, this guy's shaved head should've only grown this much hair.

Day 2: tea time Fang is so small here so she has an egg tooth (hatched a few days ago) Also Gyatso expected to see her way bigger. They both don`t know Fang`s sex bc she is a dragon chick (.... i am late.... Fuck... i will do day 3 and day 4 in one day)

Day 4: Beach Episode / Love and Loss

Actually, I feel the relationship between Roku and water is quite interesting. It seems to fit the theme of "Love and Loss" on Day 4 really well, so I drew this kinda random 4 - panel comic.

As for the "loss" part, there's no doubt it's about his twin brother Yasu drowning at sea. It made Roku feel guilty until later on (after all, when this guy thinks of water, his first thought is death...).

The "love" part is also related to water. Makittuq taught Roku that submerging in water was the quickest way to enter the Spirit World. Through this method, Roku connected with Kuruk and realized that as the Avatar, he didn't have to be alone. He got closer to the people around him and understood it's okay to rely on friends sometimes. That's why it called "The Awakening Of Roku".

Water brings death to Roku, but it's also a symbol of life. No wonder he said learning water - bending was the hardest for him.

Well, I'm wondering if there could be a scene where this guy deliberately stayed in the water for a long time when he was submerging, just to experience what it was like for Yasu to drown. His lungs are being filled with cold water, making his brain super clear, and he's thinking, "So this is how my brother felt back then..." 😿 (Makittuq: Are you kidding me?!)

Tea party! I like the scene when Gyatso fell in love with Roku’s jasmine tea in the novel. That and whatever uncle Iroh made in the original series make me wanna try fire nation tea so bad 💖

Oh, and I really like drawing Gyatso without his tattoos, cuz that was the time he was healing along side with Roku. About Roku in this comic, his hair was shorter and messier since it’d just grown back from the temporary bald Roku 🤣
