“Did I?” His sleep schedule may have been out of whack, but now it’d probably be even more so. At the mention of the deer, Sorin nodded. “Thank you.” If she hadn’t he probably would’ve left it for a bit. Cleaning was not the firstthing on his mind. At the question, Sorin shook his head. “I’m okay for now. Unless you want to stay and watch a movie with me.”

“No, I need to get out of this house,” she chuckled, leaning back. “You know me. I don’t like staying in place for too long.” She had been inside for a little too long for her liking, even though she had gone out for a few minutes to dispose of the carcass. “If you want to hangout though, we can go for a walk together. Figure out something else to do elsewhere.”

“now who would have gathered that i would run into my runaway daughter in such a nondescript and strange place,” dimitri said aloud as he spotted the other. it felt so long since he’d seen her that he was sure he would never see her again. “i’m glad you look healthy, and rather happy. at least, compared to when you were with me and your brother. you’ve grown to be so independent – it almost breaks my heart.”

“I am not your daughter,” Ylania was seething as she corrected the man in front of her. It finally happened, the day she’d always feared would come. It was bound to happen eventually. It was a small world after all. And an even smaller town. Finding herself here became more and more of a curse each day. “You don’t have a heart, Dimitri. Don’t try to act cute.”

“Eighteen hours!? Holy shit!” He excaimed. He hadn’t planned on sleeping that long. All he’d planned on doing was taking a nap. At the mention of his messy house though, Sorin rolled his eyes. “Somehow I mange, since you were able to navigate the house.” He didn’t think he was that messy. “I’m feeling better. My throat’s no longer sore, and I’m not craving blood right now, so I think that’s a good sign.”

“You needed the rest,” she shrugged. “So I let you sleep. I’ve also thrown out the deer corpse,” she pointed out. That was part of the cleaning. “I’m glad to hear that you’re better.” She leaned forward, holding his arm in comfort. “Do you need me to do anything else, Sorin?”

“Is it?” He found becoming human a little weird, but the fact that he was once a sentient teddy bear was not odd to him. Usually all the toys and stuffed animals he knew could talk. “It’s great, since now I’m really tall and I have muscles and hair!” Something he never had as a bear was hair. All he had was a tiny bit of fuzz at the top of his head. At the suggestion of the name, Fend’s eyes lit up. “Ooh! I like it!”

“You know, I’ve helped name your son but I haven’t gotten your name yet,” the vampire realized out loud. She adjusted herself before sticking her hand out for the man to shake. “My name is Ylania, by the way. I should’ve introduced myself sooner. Sorry.”

“Really?” That was surprising, since it was pretty popular. “They’re saying it’s like a teenage version of The Twilight Zone.” He also happened to like The Twilight Zone but with the things he usually faced, Creeped Out was closer to what he was used to. Loading up the episode, he put in his headphones and sat back in the chair.

“I don’t really binge watch,” she confessed with a shrug. “I’m one of those weirdo who’d rather be out and about. Sometimes I’ll watch a movie, but usually in theaters. It’s hard for me to sit at home.” She plugged the set that he’d handed to her before she put it on. “Sorry, I’ll be quiet now,” she promised with a small smile.

Immediately he was able to pick up on her tone, causing a sneaky smirk to form on his lips. He was never one to back down from a challenge, perhaps that was why he was constantly getting himself into trouble. “ You know what, I think I’ll stay in now. Just because. “ he teased. 

“Suit yourself,” she shrugged, highly amused that he’d chosen to stay despite how cold it was. “I’m going to move closer to the falls,” she stated, implying yet again that he was invited to follow. She swam her way closer to the foot of the falls, feeling the water beat down on her back when she finally got there. “Mmmm feels like a back massage.”

Admittedly, he would have rather talked to himself and nobody respond but he kept the thought to himself. Blaine made a face, unfamiliar with the concept. “ What exactly is that? “ he questioned. Before he had his fur to keep him warm and clearly he didn’t have that at his disposal anymore.  

“It’s like a pad you hold in your hand. Some  people stuff them in their shoes. But they point is that they’re pads that heat up so you can warm up easy.” Ylania explained. “You guys don’t have that wherever it is you’re from?”

A laugh left Toby’s lips before he nodded enthusiastically. “ Alright. “ The prince followed suit, slipping off his shirt and jeans before jumping in after her. As soon as the chilly water hit him he let out a gasp, his teeth chattering. “ O..ookay that is cold. “ he replied, followed by a chuckle. 

Oh gosh, he’s cute. The thought came to Ylania’s head and she was quick to kill the thought. She had no business catching feelings. Even when they looked so adorable and eager to try everything like she did. “You don’t have to stay in the water with me,” she shrugged. But she said in such a casual tone, it almost made it sound like she was challenging him.

Unbeknownst to him, whatever had been affecting Sorin’s system had gone away while he was asleep, and as a result he was no longer plagued by bloodthirst. However, he’d still needed the extra sleep, as it had taken a huge toll on him. It had been exhausting trying fight the urge to go drink human blood, and even harder to deal with the pain he’d suffered for not drinking blood at all. As his conciousness returned to him, Sorin woke up with a start. Looking at his sister, he sat up. “How long was I out for?”

“Eighteen hours,” she replied, trying to keep the worry out her voice. “I spent about ten minutes of that cleaning your house. I don’t know how you manage to live like this.” She jested, hoping a joke would help him feel better. “How are you feeling?” she checked. She was very much worried still. But this time she was ready to do whatever else she needed to do.

The wolf narrowed his eyes at the girl, clearly displeased. “ Yeah, well nobody asked you. “ he huffed, before pulling down his sleeves a bit to try and gather as much warmth as he could from what little he had on at the moment. 

“Maybe not, but then you would’ve been walking around talking to yourself if I didn’t respond. So I did you a favor,” she responded casually, not a hint of aggression in her voice. “They have hothands in the grocery store,” she shrugged. She didn’t really know that, because she didn’t really have the need for it. But heating pads was usually something they had around this time of year. It was more like a wild guess.

“Really! I was about this tall,” he spread his hands about six inches, “and I was all different colors! But sadly I didn’t have any hair. Just fuzz.” He looked down at his feet at that. “We can name him together though! That way we both have a connection to him!”

“That’s bizarre,” she pointed out with a small chuckle. “But then again, this town is weird as heck.” She shook her head. “How does being human feel like?” she asked, managing to smile despite her envy. “Hmmm... how do you feel about the name Walter?”

“I was thinking Creeped Out.” Despite taking on the supernatural daily in Springville, horror somehow managed to be a comfort for him. He and his mom usually binged horror tv shows together when they weren’t out facing real horrors. “But if you have another idea, I’d be willing to consider it.”

“I’ve actually never heard of Creeped Out,” Ylania admitted, eyebrows raised in curiosity. “I’m down. Let’s watch it.” She shrugged, moving her chair closer to the stranger’s. She assumed it fell under the horror genre, something she didn’t mind watching. It was nice to be able to look at the horrors of the world in a screen, knowing it isn’t real.

“Sorin, wake up,” she spoke quietly, sat next to her brother. He was probably sore all over. But it had been almost a whole day since she let him sleep. She stayed up the whole night and through the day, just waiting for the sun to set once more. She needed to check if he was okay, if his thirst was gone. So as soon as she thought it was safe, she broke him out of his trance.

Toby followed after her, attempting to keep up to the best of his ability. When they finally reached the destination, he let out an amazed gasp. It was stunning! “ That is… beautiful. “ he breathed out, before smiling over at Ylania. He noticed how the stars seemed to almost reflect off the water, making everything all the more gorgeous. 

She turned to Toby with obvious excitement in her eyes. “You down for a night swim?” Reckless, it may have been. But who was Ylania if not adventurous to a fault. The vampire stripped down, leaving just her intimates. She gave Toby a smirk before she ran into the water.

“Nope! I was a teddy bear! That’s why he’s my new son!” He motioned to the teddy bear in his hand. Considering his human didn’t have many teddy bears, he felt compelled to take care of ones he saw laying around. “Of course! It’d be kinda silly to not let you name him after offering.” 

“Really?” she didn’t mean to be rude, but the way she asked made her doubts plain. “Like an actual teddy bear?” Her head tilted curiously at the man, brows furrowed. “It’s an awfully big responsibility to be given to a stranger though. I feel like you’ll have a better connection with him if you give him the name.”

“I have an extra set and a splitter.” He didn’t really want to share earphones with other people, since he didn’t know what other people’s ears contained. Especially since he couldn’t rule out the possibility of an earworm creature. Plus it meant hearing would be easier, since they both would be getting sound in both ears. 

“Even better,” Ylania grinned, closing her book. A movie marathon was going to be way more entertaining than having to read a book anyway. She didn’t know why she found it so difficult to sit still when she was reading, but somehow not impossible when she was glued to a show. “So what’re we watching?”

“I don’t know.” Usually his bloodthirst could be quelled with raw steak or burgers, and the occasional deer when it got particularly bad (or if he was craving fresh blood). But this…this wasn’t just a craving for blood. This wouldn’t stop until he had more blood. “Maybe? But I don’t know if it’ll stop even then.” Although something inside him said maybe human blood would stop it, Sorin refused to stoop to that level. 

She grit her teeth as she sat in carefully front of her brother. Her eyes trained on him, pupils dilated as she spoke carefully. Compulsion wasn’t an ability that she was proud she had, and it especially wasn’t one she’d use so freely. But desperate times, desperate measures. “Sorin, lie down on the couch and go to sleep.” She wasn’t sure if it was a good enough solution to the problem. She was mostly just buying time.
