Florida Cuts HIV and AIDS Medication and Prevention Funds
Earlier in March, Florida's governor announced deep cuts to the state's HIV and AIDS prevention and treatment programs. Thousands of Floridians who depend upon these programs for life-saving anitretrovirals and PrEP will now have to pay steep, out-of-pocket costs. Florida is but one state that has cut HIV and AIDS treatment funding, but their cuts have been some of the deepest. This portends a grave public health crisis; 3200 Floridians were diagnosed with HIV in 2022, the latest year for which we have data. For every 100,000 people in the state, 16.7 have an HIV diagnosis--giving the state one of the highest rates of prevalence in the US. Many of those diagnoses occur once the virus has progressed to AIDS; without antiretrovirals, AIDS is a death sentence. Antiretrovirals allow HIV+ people to survive and live healthy lives, even after progression to AIDS. Moreover, they reduce the viral load to undectable levels, meaning that they cannot transmit HIV. Antiretrovirals are the most effectve way to keep people healthy and to stop the spread of the virus. Like many of the other states that have either cut funding or are considering it, Florida did not expand Medicaid. These states also have the greatest prevalence of HIV diagnoses and the lowest rates of treatment. This portends a dire public health emergency. AIDS-related deaths peaked in the mid 1990s; they declined sharply with the introduction of antiretrovirals and the creation of programs such as the Ryan White Program that provide assistance to patients who cannot afford ARTs. Many people I love are living happy, healthy lives today because of these programs; had they received their diagnoses just a few years prior, they would not likely have survived. To roll these programs back is unconscionable and shameful. It's also unconscionable that the Trump administration has repressed what the CDC can share about HIV on its website. It has cut funding for its HIV surveillance/prevention program. Reagan, Bush, and Clinton have all gone down in history for standing idly by as AIDS claimed hundreds of thousands of lives in the US, and nearly a million worldwide (in their time). Today, Trump is actively waging war on the queer community and poor urban and rural areas by setting the stage for yet another crisis. What makes this so damnably enraging is that this time, we know the cause. This time, we know how to prevent AIDS deaths. There's no reason for HIV to be a death sentence anymore, but Trump and his flunkies are working overtime to ensure that it once again will be for the poor and the marginalized. Even partly-effective masks can stop the spread of COVID-19, so long as enough people wear them.

This is true
thinking about how sasuke and itachi both abandoned the village when they were 13. how sasuke was unintentionally following in his older brother's footsteps - how he was turning into what he perceived itachi to be. how he believed itachi betrayed, abandoned his family, and left the village to test his strength; to get stronger. how sasuke did the same by seeking power. how before they both left, itachi hurt his brother and sasuke hurt naruto, the ones they loved most. how neither of them could kill the other because they loved them too much. how they both acted and pretended that they hated the other. how they both actually loved each other endlessly. how-
Yeah I said something similar yesterday but we can NOT let what happened to Renee Good cloud what happened to everyone else at the hands of these SS Demons!!!

A Black man was killed by ICE (off duty) in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve. And like Renee Good, he was an American citizen. But most people have not heard about Keith Porter. genuinely one of the funniest things about madara is that while he criticizes tsunade for not being hashirama enough he never compares her prowess in the field of medicine to his own. even tho he was doing orochimaru-level cellular fuckery in a cave with nothing but a statue and the chunk of flesh he bit out of his ex's arm during his second suicide-by-boyfriend attempt
tsunade was struggling to put lee's bones back together with ninja magic and probably also normal doctor stuff i guess meanwhile madara just made obito a new half-his-fucking-body while sitting in his life support chair with a single eye that did not belong to him (as opposed to his actual eyes which he wasn't born with but if someone gives you a gift then that's yours now. especially if it's a dying person and an eyeball in narutoland, we know this)
like does madara ever even acknowledge being a medical/scientific genius at any point? no bc he doesn't care. he's probably also a better medic than hashirama is but it doesn't matter bc medicine doesn't usually involve getting into a fistfight bc something something intricate rituals to touch the skin of anyone ever bc you have more trust issues than spare eyeballs

Dedicate your hearts (wrong manga) Anyway Haku birthday art but sad !
like. i'll leave this alone. but HOW are historical romance books not sexualizing the fall of breeches. literally a blowjob flap. not to mention the collars that open to the diaphragm. the décolletage with a wide neckline one swift tug from being revealed. the calves on display. the intimacy of finally seeing the real hair beneath the wig. cmon it's basic storytelling
i love making a post that attracts everyone with usernames like mozartswigsweat and bonnetenthusiast and foppishrake and petticoatsonpetticoatsonpetticoats and dandyismunlimited within 48 hours. blessed webbed site. merry christmas to us all.
much to think about
truly some people have no genre savviness whatsoever. A girl came back from the dead the other day and fresh out of the grave she laughed and laughed and lay down on the grass nearby to watch the sky, dirt still under her nails. I asked her if she’s sad about anything and she asked me why she should be. I asked her if she’s perhaps worried she’s a shadow of who she used to be and she said that if she is a shadow she is a joyous one, and anyway whoever she was she is her, now, and that’s enough. I inquired about revenge, about unfinished business, about what had filled her with the incessant need to claw her way out from beneath but she just said she’s here to live. I told her about ghosts, about zombies, tried to explain to her how her options lie between horror and tragedy but she just said if those are the stories meant for her then she’ll make another one. I said “isn’t it terribly lonely how in your triumph over death nobody was here to greet you?” and she just looked at me funny and said “what do you mean? The whole world was here, waiting”. Some people, I tell you.
