Omar x Aynah finally married. Backatory: my last visit in Marawi City before this beautiful wedding was almost a year ago. May 23, 2017 to be exact. It was the day that extremists sieged Marawi City. We were there for an after wedding shoot were both families or clans of the bride side and groom side meet. Yes, we saw lots of military in full battle gear while on our way to Ayala Resort within MSU Marawi and when my fellows asked if there was war going on, I calmly said "yes but outside Marawi so were safe." That was around 9am. We left the resort just around 2pm. Got caught in a traffic in front of Amay Pakpak Hospital but got through. A few minutes later the enemy attacked and sieged the hospital first. We were already exiting the city proper when my called frantically saying war was already happening. Thank God we got through before they struck terror and destruction. Fast forward to weeks before this wedding, I was at first hesitant to go back again to Marawi but we had a good talk through Facebook with the bride and the war was officially over months before so I decided to shoot their wedding. It was a beautiful wedding indeed and I am glad and humbled to witness their celebration. This is a testament that no extremist group or ideology can stop the people of Marawi, the Maranaos from celebrating life.
