"Within us are planes of existence, areas of consciousness, which are in absolute darkness. These planes are much more beautiful and creative than the ones we live on now. [...] When the pranic energy is aroused and awakened through the practice of pranayama, it is circulated to these dark areas of consciousness. Then the inner city is illuminated and man is reborn into a new dimension of existence, a new area of experience." Hatha Yoga Pradipika
Think it was my leopard leggings that inspired and encouraged me 😉🐆
Just had a little breakthrough. My first Lotus seat.

Morning sunshine at my mum's in Berlin last month. Perfect for practice.
And this was such a nice card to receive. Thank you!
Our Yoga practice is the microcosm of our whole life. The patterns of avoidance that manifest as we practise, and the patterns of attachment to other aspects of our practice reflect the patterns of avoidance and the patterns of attachment in our relationships with other people, our relationships to food, to our job, to money, to society - it even reflects patterns within our politics, our philosophies and even in our aesthetic tastes. This is one of the values of our practice. We're finding out those core patterns that underlie and programme, that influence the whole tapestry of our existence. Whenever we think about the world, think about other people, we are doing it via sensations in our own body.

This was on holiday in Ibiza back in October. A beautiful outdoor space to practice Yoga at sunset. Such a cliché, but wonderful it was nevertheless... Hope I get to go back one day.
Globe House near London Bridge is one of my favourite places in London, and a beautiful space to practice Yoga. It's a true urban retreat, an oasis of quiet in the midst of the concrete jungle. The owner of these converted old tanneries has imported these sculptures from India. The cow is my favourite, it's huge and just sits there, so peaceful in a small hidden yard.
May we live like the lotus, at home in muddy waters

Drawing stick figures is the best part of class planning.
This is Oxon Hoath in Kent, where I spent the Easter weekend at a Yoga retreat. It was simply amazing. The house was first built in the 1300s, then extended, French, Elizabethan, Victorian and all kinds of intriguing history. Lovely people, best friend, new friends, pranayama, meditation, breakfast, ashtanga, luscious lunch, country walks, reading by the fire, Yin Yoga, veggie dinner, Scrabble, red wine, chocolate eggs, a horse named Gucci, local brew at the Swan.
