I don't think anyone is saying Bellamy should be perfect or never fail? But it's undeniable that the writers don't take the care with him that they do Clarke. We have fairly neutral parties, journalists/casual fans, who thought he was a straight-up villain this season. There was no attempt at justifying his actions like there was for Ton DC or MW w/Clarke. He was just the fall guy for when they need some drama, while the ~epic romance~ was going down in Polis. This is how non-fandom saw S3.

I disagree. I see his justification and I always have. It’s clear to me. I know not everybody sees it, but my opinion is that it is clear. He is doing it to save his people. He does not trust the grounders who have been killing them and betraying them since they got there. 

Why should he believe that Lxa wants peace when she has not shown ONE LITTLE BIT OF EVIDENCE that this dangerous warrior army placed outside of their gate isn’t about to eradicate them? Because she denied them full access to the mountain? Because she put limits on their ability to create a self sustaining settlement or move about freely? Because she LEFT THEM TO DIE although they were allies? 

Why do you think this is not justification? He’s justified all to hell. Was it the best course of action to side with Pike? No. Was it justified and understandable? Yes. You can see Pike working on his guilt and feelings of responsibility and his mistrust. This is showing how he got there. 

He was not the fall guy. This was HIS journey. Kane told him that he had to know why he was doing things or he would still be lost. 

THIS IS THE NARRATIVE EXPLAINING HIS JOURNEY. It’s absolutely there and it’s explicit.  The two warring concepts of “doing the right thing” and “doing it for my people” were fighting for his soul. 

I honestly can’t explain why people don’t see it. Smoke and mirrors? An ugly story vs a pretty story which gets all the attention? 

Frankly I have never understood why everyone takes Lxa’s statements about her intentions or about the way things should be as Truth and Reality, when she’s kind of proven she is dishonorable and doesn’t really understand right from wrong. So we see Lxa say “love is a weakness,” and believe her. We see her say “I did it for my people” and believe her. We see her say, “I will protect you with fierce warriors at your gate while i keep you weak,” and believe her. 

I never believed her, and neither did Bellamy, so what Bellamy did makes sense to me.
