GENERAL
Age: 18
Nicknames: Pen, Nelly, Bird.
Sexuality: she’s pretty gay
Appearance: Her hair is chin length and honey-brown, but she’s letting her roots start to grow in darker. She has soft cheeks and a round face, and her eyes are almond shaped and a bright hazel- green and amber. Her nose is small and upturned, but there’s slight bump on the bridge with a scar. She broke it when she was thirteen playing hockey. In build, she’s small, and her torso is short, as most of her height is in her legs. Small feet too, a five in women’s. She works hard to keep herself in skating condition, but she does have a bit of stubborn pudge on her hips and belly.
Personality: Penelope is light-hearted and bubbly, and she prefers to be in happy situations. She often ends up the mediator when things go badly. She’s fiercely competitive and ambitious, and during competition any hint of her normal carefree personality disappears. She is a bit of a hot-head, but she hates hurting people, so she normally completely removes herself from the situation to avoid confrontation which fixes nothing. A bit of a flirt, and kinda motherly.
Background: Penelope was born in Rio, and lived there until her family pushed her to continue skating further. She loves her city, and her country even more, but her family comes first, even before ice. Any money she earns from skating is used to pay off her student debt and what her parents have put into her love of the ice. She has three younger siblings, all boys. She’s currently in Buffalo, New York (where her mother lived for five years) preparing to go to college at Canisius.
SKATING
How she skates her Stammi Vicino: In the technical aspect, she’s perfect. Her movements are clean, concise, and she extends well. Her jumps are a good height, and she lands each of them- though she trades all but two of the quads for triples. Her presentation is, well, not. It’s not necessarily pretty, unless it’s where she’s brought in a more Latin movement (she picked elements from a samba or a ciranda that could be easily transferred to skating). The emotion, however, is there. If Stay Close To Me is about love and longing, Penelope skates for her love for her country, and longing for the innocent joy she once felt while skating. At the end of the video, she holds her pose then turns to the camera and blows a kiss as whoever holds it begins rambling in excited Portuguese.
How she skates, in general: Clean, quick, and sharp. She knows what she’s doing, and it shows. She needs to work on making the viewer feel what she does. She’s good on her jumps and spins, but her step sequences need work. She prefers to use more Latin music and include Latin elements in her skating.
How she gets along with other skaters: I don’t know about the other OCs, but I can see her getting along well with Michele, Georgi, and (strangely) JJ. Yurio would probably feel suffocated when she tried to mother him, but she knows when to back off and would get him food, so grudging acceptance?
Why she reached out to Viktor and Yuuri: Her family (everyone is chipping in) is doing everything to get her an education and see her do well on ice. So she’s going to try everything possible to pay them back and make them proud.
