My main fic (and darling baby) is “Treasure Of All Treasures” on Ao3.
Gorgeous art of old Thorin and Bilbo I commissioned from @yoko-senshi for my fic. They did an absolutely STUNNING job as you can see, and the whole process was so smooth and super fast! You can get your own old man yaoi art (or anything else) here!
Thank you so much for bringing this scene to life. We don't have much art of Bilbo and Thorin growing old together, so this is really precious to me 💜
A snippet from the fic under the cut.
They changed into their sleeping clothes in thick silence, both displeased with the disagreement. Then Bilbo fetched a brush and Thorin’s favourite hair oil, patting the little stool in front of him wordlessly as he sat at the edge of the bed. Thorin couldn’t help but smile, feeling his shoulders relax. He sat down, closing his eyes with a pleased hum as Bilbo started to comb through his long, white locks.
No matter what happened that day, being able to come back to their chambers with Bilbo and go through their evening routine together always eased his mind. Thorin leaned back, resting lightly against Bilbo’s knees, and enjoyed the sensation of being taken care of.
The water was still churning, thick with the emotion of the moment. Bilbo clung to him, panting into his neck. Thorin had his arms tangled tightly around his mate, shaking from the force with which he clung to him. His heart was beating like a furious storm inside his chest, thumping in his throat.
The fullness pressed against him from within, skin stretched taut in ways it never had been before. He felt heavy in a way entirely foreign to him.
And Mahal, did it feel right.
His channel still throbbed from the sheer heft of the brood he was now carrying securely inside himself. A shudder ran through him at the thought - the awareness of the rounded shapes shifting slowly within, the knowledge that he was carrying his brood, using his own body to shelter them - a trembling exhale flushed through his gills as he buried his neck in Bilbo’s tangled hair.
Neither of them made a move to pull apart, to sever the most intimate connection between them. Thorin could feel his muscles working, slow, gentle squeezes around Bilbo’s length where it spread him open still. His pouch had sealed tightly again, clamping shut to keep the precious little lives safe. It was almost painful, entrance sore and overstretched, as Bilbo was pressed against it deep within - but the feeling was so wonderful, touching the deepest parts of Thorin’s being, sending waves upon waves of love and belonging through him.
He would do everything for his little gem. He would die to keep him safe. He would let their young feed from his own dead body if he must.
It was almost scary, how much he loved Bilbo. But after all, Bilbo had given him the greatest gift he would ever know, now nestled safely within the warm cradle of his pouch. His to shelter, now, his to protect.
Bilbo’s blunt claws had barely left any scratches in his tough skin, even as he had cried out and clung to him through the worst of it. The small marks would fade come morning, sadly. Thorin wouldn’t have minded keeping them. His mate still hung limply - empty - in his arms, pressed flush against him from head to tail, the occasional tremor running through his small frame. Their fins had intertwined in their shared nest.
When Bilbo’s length began to retract back into his own body, Thorin pressed kiss after kiss onto his love’s brow, words of devotion falling from his lips. He tucked Bilbo close, wincing as the last of him slipped free from his hole.
Thorin’s channel spasmed, fluttering in an attempt to close, and he groaned softly at the sensation. He laid a hand on his belly, rounded with their future, his children, Bilbo’s eggs, and his heart almost gave out from the sight alone. A few beads of their combined fluids slowly spilled forth as his hole clenched particularly strongly. Their mixed scent painted the waters and swaddled their nest in a wholly new sense of home that ripped a whine from Thorin’s throat, eyes half-shut in pure bliss.
Dirt clung stubbornly beneath his claws. He was sure there were bits of weed - "cucumbers, you oaf" - wedged between the rough ridges of his fingers too, and other things Thorin'd rather not think about.
The rock had been pushed aside, settled along the ledge where it had fallen from. The plants had indeed been smashed beyond repair, and the little gem had fussed over them and muttered quiet insults at Thorin. Then he'd made him dig up every last one of them, till the ground with his hands and bury small, slimy bits that Thorin had no intention of ever touching again.
The golden mer had commandeered him around as if he'd never done anything else.
"Deeper here."
"Pile the soil up higher."
"Don't just rip them out! The roots, you lobster, the roots!"
And Thorin had followed every one of those orders. As if he'd never done anything else. As if he hadn't once led entire armies into battle.
Now the gem was appraising his work one last time before sighing and gathering the pitiful stems of his dead weeds into a basket.
"That's that done", he said, turning to Thorin. "Now kindly swim off before you can kill anything else. Some people actually need their gardens alive, you know." And with that, the gem flicked his tail and spun to leave.
"Wait!", Thorin cried out before he could stop himself. The stranger turned around, one eyebrow cocked, as if daring him to continue. Thorin swallowed down the sudden knot in his throat. "I am Thorin. What is your name?" The gem tilted his head, considering if he would deign Thorin with an answer.
"Bilbo", he then replied curtly before swimming off, basket under his arm.
Thorin was left staring after the little gem - after Bilbo, heart pounding in his chest as his cheeks warmed with a sudden flush.
It tumbled almost in slow motion to the ground, cracking loose a couple smaller chips on its way down. The water did little to cushion its fall, and it hit the floor with a rumble that Thorin felt in his bones.
Shit.
The golden mer whirled around, green eyes flashing, mitigating any attempt at escape. He swam over in a startling burst of speed that caught Thorin completely off guard, cornering him against the stone that he had previously used to spy.
"You lead-finned moron!" Up close, Thorin could see the small scatterings of orange that crept up the gem's neck. "Those were my cucumbers! All squashed now! And I used my last seeds on them this season!" A finger was jabbed into his chest, the blunt claw digging slightly into his thick hide. The touch was almost electric. Thorin's eyes widened as he took in the sight of the furious mer - angry over… weeds? - snarling at him in a manner that should not have been as pretty as it was.
"I… apologise?", Thorin said, and the other threw his hands up exasperatedly.
"Apologise!" He was huffing as he squared up against the shark. Thorin's breath stuttered in his gills. He was not used to being shouted at. “It will take a lot more than an apology! You killed my cucumbers!"
Thorin's heart should not have been beating this fast as he gazed into emerald eyes drawn together in fury.
Not that he was hard to miss. His scales flashed white-gold in the shallow water as he reached down to pluck some weeds from the sandy bottom. Without a care in the world… just floating there, back unguarded, fins relaxed as they worked to keep him steady.
How someone could be so unaware - or uncaring - of the dangers lurking in the deeper waters was a mystery to Thorin.
Honestly, it was infuriating.
But no matter how much this stranger's naivety irritated him, Thorin couldn't tear his eyes away. They were glued to the gently bobbing curls, to the thin, translucent fins that seemed fragile enough to rip from even the bluntest of claws, and those shining, glittering scales. Patches of white littered the chubby body, round in a way that made Thorin want to sink his fingers into the supple flesh and knead it gently.
He faintly wondered how the soft skin, unmarred by scars, would feel under his palms. Not that he would ever feel it.
So he satisfied himself with gazing at this curious little gem from afar.
The drawing in his hands had long faded and shrivelled up at the edges. The paper was crinkled and brittle from the many times his hands had held it.
Bilbo's heart squeezed in an all-too familiar way.
He ran a finger over the ruffled corner, trying not to fiddle with it too much. He resisted the urge to touch the scratched patches of paint, afraid of smudging or breaking up the aged pigments.
It was the only picture he had after all.
Drawn ages ago by old Rosy, long passed now, her talents only preserved in the few portraits she'd done in her old days.
Bilbo remembered posing for her - showing off the spots on his tail for her to capture, flaunting his new tooth-gap, his father's hand a warm presence at his back, his mother's swollen belly under his sticky hands.
Now… there was only brittle paper, torn and ripped and damaged.
Bilbo couldn't quite remember their faces anymore. He recalled bits of it - his mother's green eyes, the dimples in his father's cheeks… but the full picture - quite literally - had faded into memory.
His fingers ached as they contorted further into the narrow crevice, arm straining against the unfortunate angle.
"Oh come on, you blasted - hiding - stupid -"
Bilbo floated head over tail in the water, bobbing slightly in the current. He'd stuck his arm into the hollow in the rock almost all the way up to his elbow, and yet, the little critter eluded him. He'd already chipped a claw, digging into the rock to pull himself closer, to get that last inch, that last push.
A smarter mer might have given up. A single oyster was not worth the challenge, the effort. There were others, certainly - Bilbo's little satchel already held three of them, wrangled from other cracks and crannies.
But that one… it was big, it was fat, it held promise of juicy meat and fine aged slime. Bilbo huffed as his arm, the one wedged deep between stone, scraped against the walls uncomfortably. He'd have a few bruises, that was for sure. But dammit, he wanted that oyster. He had never seen one so big, and his stomach was clenching in mere anticipation.
No wonder it had gotten so big, tucked away as it was.
"Hrghhhh -"
His fingers touched shell.
"Hah!"
Gently, gently, he wiggled it loose, pinching it between his fingers in the only way the narrow space allowed, and pulled.
At first, the blasted thing didn't budge. But then it came free with a lurch so powerful it knocked Bilbo's wrist into the stone from the way he'd been pulling. He hissed against the slight throbbing sting. But that was quickly forgotten when he extracted his hand, oyster secured.
I'm "officially" starting my little Bagginshield mer AU :D
I honestly don't know if I will at any point along the way write a full length fic for this. Definitely not as long as "Treasure of all Treasures", that's for sure hahaha
This AU got born out of me wanting to draw pretty mermen. So expect a loooot of drawings together with the snippets. Due to Tumblr restrictions, I can only post the explicit art on my Patreon. Everything else will be right here, as usual :)
Nsfw snip below cut
“Fuuuck -“
Thorin let his head fall back against the hard rock as his fingers slowly rocked deeper into his body. He spread them slightly in the hole beneath the sheath of his cocks, whimpering at the stretch. His gills fluttered rapidly, his body flushed hot, with need and want burning hot under his skin.
He was empty. He was so fucking empty -
The ache in his belly made him crazed with lust. Another season, another hollow pain where his pouch sat empty - another year spent without a mate.
Thorin's slick ran over his fingers as he shoved them in as far as they would go - hitting the spongey resistance at the back of his channel that ignited sparks behind his eyelids, pleasure and pain tangling as he prodded the tight furl.
"Please -" He wasn't even sure what he was begging for. "Please - please -“
But the place that wanted - needed - screamed - to be filled denied him entry. Without a mate, without eggs to receive, it would not open.
Thorin wanted to scream in frustration. The two orgasms he had stripped out of his cocks had done nothing to soothe the gnawing emptiness inside him. He was twitching in overstimulation, body jerking away from his intruding fingers.
He turned his head into the crook of his elbow, panting, letting pathetic, warbling cries escape his throat.
I absolutely love how bilbo turned out, messed up a tad on thorin but we'll survive.
(For reference everyone, I love bagginshield and colouring, but am not at the skill level where I can make colouring pages myself, our beloved yoko-senshi offered to make me one!!)
Once again thank you so much! This was such fun to colour and I had a great time :) <3
They look amazing!!!
I'm glad you had fun. I need to polish up on my own colouring skills, so I might end up rendering this piece after all :D
