Well, hello there!

If you're wondering who I am, here are some fun facts that might interest you. I am:

My dreams are usually stacked with lots of details which is tiring. But sometimes something unexpected/cute/funny sneaks in. I rarely have anything hobbit related in my dreams 😔 Brain, why are they hugging on the tire?

Thorin who covets with the fervor he once held for gold, but this time it is Bilbo. All things Bilbo.

His soft milky skin, the give to his belly beneath Thorin's hands. The sharp tan line left at the nape of his neck from the gap between his curls and his collar.

The shine of his spectacles from the firelight as he reads to Thorin. Bilbo and his sweet, raspy voice and the words that flow with little error while his fingers scratch expertly through Thorin's mane of hair.

The dirt beneath his fingernails from gardening all day, how he squirms at the feeling of Thorin dotingly cleaning it all out. How sweet and bitter Bilbo smelled having sweat from a hard day's labor, heavy on Thorin's tongue.

His quips and quotes and quick witted mind. How Thorin loved social gatherings that he once dreaded because Bilbo was there to meet his gaze and with a single look, communicate his amusement or annoyance.

Its difficult. Maddening. Thorin wants to eat him.

...Not literally, of course not. But there are hours spent feeling like even cuddling Bilbo close with their heartbeats pressed together isn't enough. Rocking into him until they are both coming undone isn't enough.

Thorin braids his promises of love and fidelity into Bilbo's hair every morning. Every morning, Bilbo accepts it and gives Thorin a braid in return.

The ache in Thorin's teeth eventually settles.

One day, Thorin doesn't for a second have that love in him that soured to angst. The love was just there, pure and carefree. Trusting it would be treasured as much as Thorin treasured Bilbo.

I imagine that dwarven dancing looks very much like some martial arts - a show of strength and discipline. It probably includes wielding some sort of weapon to add to the dramatic effect and showcase the dwarf's skill.

Dancing with another is probably reminiscent of how synchronised they move during a battle, and shows how well they can complement each other - having their companion's backs and showing understanding of their partners strengths and weaknesses

Okay yes yes, but you wondered about Bilbo and Thorin

I've always thought: wouldn't it be fabulous if Hobbits danced sean nós style? Because unlike more modern styles of Irish trad dancing, sean nós is loose and free and all about reacting to the music! Surely Hobbits would want to dance like that, and get a chance to show off their furry feet!

So here's Thorin expecting a rigid, well practiced style of dance, where the music is almost more accompaniment than necessary

And Bilbo who's had no preperation, just here to dance as a reaction to the music and to Thorin and dance

Bet ya Thorin trips over his own two feet!

or, they show how well even complete opposites can go together by combining both. Thorin does the well practiced moves, letting Bilbo improvise to the music as he watches him perform. It's a strange combination, but it somehow works. Thorin knows when exactly to take center stage and do the lifts, but he also know when he needs to step aside to give Bilbo the freedom he needs. A perfect symfony of two unlikely souls

Thorin speaks in the dwarven equivalent of a “hick” accent. He grew up around what to the dwarven world was country people, so he naturally picked up their linguistics.

Now imagine, Thorin Oakenshield, the dwarf who charged on army with nothing but an oak branch as a shield and took back a mountain from a DRAGON, is sitting in a meeting with potential councilmen. He’s freakishly tall too, with steely blue eyes that almost emit a glow if you look hard enough.

He opens his mouth to finally speak, and they expect a deep boom that could rival Durin himself.

Instead what they hear is a god awful accent, which sounds like the “poor folk”, that they can hardly understand. He speaks so confidently and yet most of it, to their ears, is gibberish.

I might be terribly biased due to it being one of my favorite birds but if Dori wears purple in the book I think a purple finch would suit him very nicely. A small and delicate bird for a fussy dwarf! (Also Hi!! 👋 you are very cool and your work is a big part of what inspired me to start drawing hobbit stuff!)

I finally finished it. Not very happy with result, not a peak of costume design (I just put a purple cloak on him). But, it was nice to draw!
