as a denizen of this busted ass website for half my life now i do know how staff works and i’m going to lay out what they think will happen as someone who has witnessed this exact thing play out

People get very mad for a few days and then roll over and accept the change to the enclosure. This is what they are betting on. They have had meetings about this.

Getting around it: set an alarm. Get mad not just now, but in a few days, a week, two weeks. They are expecting people to sigh and get over this very odd edit to the site in a few days. Keep flooding them for more than just tonight. Be mad for the week, for the month. Leave a message every day.

like . I cant even blame them for being like “we’ll monitor for the week”. Remember when they changed the blue back in like 2015? This website acted like staff had gone into their house and shot their dog. We’re here because we’re allergic to change and therefore it’s hard to parse if people hate the change because it’s bad or because we go into thermonuclear meltdown over what color blue the background of the website is. Just continue to bug them beyond today and beyond this week.

In case y'all aren't aware, the changes to notes and reblogs mentioned in my last post make it so that if you reblog with any kind of contribution other than tags (text, image, poll, etc.), will basically act like a separate post belonging to the reblogger. Likes and reblogs of that reblog will only show up as notes FOR THE REBLOGGER, NOT OP. Here is the official announcement:

This is a huge problem for smaller creatives and textpost conversations- now you can't even see reblog chains properly from the original post and if a larger creator reblogs anything with so much as a "I like this!", the OP will not know of any engagement that exposure has created unless they specifically hunt down reblog chains and manually add up the notes. It's a huge pain, and very isolating for smaller creators.

Let's all stab tumblr for their stupidity!

Yesterday was stabbing day and none of us (probably) stabbed anyone. This was very unfortunate. Here are all the ways we can stab tumblr in the back and reclaim the hellsite:

- Send 'feedback' to support here, be polite so you don't get ignored, but be passive aggressive so they know you are dangerous

- Comment on the tumblr/changes post about why the changes should be reversed
