The waterworks started again and George didn’t hide the flinch. If it was up to him he would rather they never had this conversation “does that make you feel better? That despite everything it didn’t work? Because it doesn’t to me”

He stood frozen as he watched her fall, hands half offered to hoist her up when she ended up looking like a pouty child “okay” george nodded “then let’s get inside and tell your brother to take you there”

she turned around very fast, so fast that her foot slipped and she landed on her butt on the grass. why was he out there? he didn’t even like her anymore. she stayed on the ground and crossed her arms like a child.

“at first. i guess all the cameras kinda blend together at prom.” that and she could read his mood. that had also been distracting her the whole time. “yeah, it’ll be perfect.”

“Sorry” he hadn’t been exactly all there during prom. Excusing himself with the camera was a good alibi “Like you wanted”

“it’s okay.” she played with the skirt of her dress. “yeah, like i wanted. most things don’t turn out like i want.”

“i came over to wendy’s house, like i do sometimes.” of course his sister was here, but she was quiet for now. “i didn’t realize that wasn’t allowed.”

“okay then.” he nodded. “we can go and come back when you leave. we don’t want to be in your way.”

“That’s-” a wonderful idea. But she couldn’t say that out loud now “Not necessary” she finally deflated “Gwaine, go inside and talk with your grandma, okay?”

“Gladly” the tension was pretty obvious even if he didn’t have his thing “but nice to meet you…”
