Interview with Takuro and Teru (GLAY)
Published in the hide BIBLE (by Akemi Oshima) 2008
Q1: When did you meet hide for the first time?
Takuro: We first met him in the bar “RED SHOES” in Roppongi, before our debut.
Q2: Please tell us what kind of impression you had at the time.
Takuro: I remember his kindness of treating us, who were still nobodies, as equals, and talking candidly with us.
Q3: Please tell us of an episode with hide that left an impression on you. Takuro: At the end of 1997, hide-san, Sugizo and I went to a quiet place to eat. Since we were usually in loud establishments and rushed through our conversations, this was a very valuable, happy time when we could speak about music without rushing. It was the last night we properly talked to each other.
Q4: What kind of person was hide to you?
Takuro: I didn’t know it at the time, but in the years since then, I stopped thinking, “If hide-san were here, what would he say? What would he think?” whenever I hit a wall. Yet… how to say… the standard, I guess… I still don’t know. I’m sorry.
Q5: If you ever saw him live, please tell us of your impression.
Teru: 96’ PSYENCE A GOGO tour in Yoyogi. Generally, a flashy, fun memory. And more than anything else you could tell how much he was valuing his fans and his companions.
Q6: Out of hide’s songs, which is your favorite and why?
Teru: We made a cover of “Misery”. And at the 1999 Expo, it was an important song that we played while looking up at the sky.
