Different Kinds of Lust
He was in all kinds of agony, but that didn’t keep the smirk off his face at her question. Bait taken, then. “Oh, you know. Get some vamp to turn you. Get a real taste of that power you’re so desperate to beat out of me.” Alright so he couldn’t actually turn her. He couldn’t even try. But she didn’t know that yet. And she didn’t need to. She just had to take one hand out of these chains. Just one. And he could book it out of here. He could easily suffer whatever headache it would take to knock her out.
His breath was still short and each word still hurt but this was his only shot at getting out. So he kept on talking. And loving every little reaction he got out of her. Oh he’d hit the sore spot. And even through his pain he could see how much it had shaken her. She was exactly the kinda place where this could work. “Trust me, pet. I know plenty of things you don’t. I know slayers for one. Killed two of ‘em in my time.” He really wanted to add that he’d lived near a century and a half. And that she wasn’t going to be the bitch to do him in. But it seemed like the wrong time to rile her up when she was falling right into his little trap there. No, he had to go a different direction with this. One that would actually help.
"I also know what power feels like. Draining the life out of someone. I know exactly how much you can drink so that they still scream. Cause I’m sure you know it’s not worth it if they don’t scream. And I know the rush you get when you’re in a fight. Enhanced strength comes in handy, you know. You think you feel powerful now, beating me down while I’m chained up and can’t fight back. Imagine doing all this and coming out on top without the medieval torture device." For a moment he had to consider what she’d be like as a vampire. Terrifying. Actually, it could be interesting. Too bad it couldn’t happen under his doing.
Aspen just stared at him. Let a vampire turn her? It was stupid and rash. How the hell had she not thought of it herself? She blinked, still processing. As much as Aspen wanted to fire back some witty retort, she was at a loss. People weren't supposed to want to become demons--hell, she wasn't sure she wanted to--but it'd be sort of perfect, wouldn't it? The girl who had been cast aside from the slayers becoming a vampire herself. And then bringing down every blasted girl that had taken the birthright Aspen so desperately thought she deserved. God, was she crazy enough to really be considering it?
She was about to speak when Spike mentioned that he'd killed a couple slayers before. Her look of disdain softened, turning to awe instead. Aspen tilted her head as she looked at him, noticing the scar on his eyebrow and the defined muscles on his body. Okay, maybe he was kind of a bad ass. Except then he started talking again. Really shattered the illusion. "What's sad is that even though I don't have all that power and just this medieval torture device, I am still kicking your ass," Aspen said with a smirk, "Now, why is that, O Bad Ass One. Cause you're selling something that I am just not buying. Two slayers? Really?"
Stay focused, eyes on the prize. His suggestion had rattled her, more than she would have liked to admit. Her thoughts were flying everywhere, but Aspen tried to force herself to concentrate. She couldn't let Spike get to her, not when she was so close to finishing him off. But, fuck if she wasn't seriously thinking about what it would be like to be able to tear apart some delusional watcher and his slayer. The rush, the excitement, the honor...
