That's when I had this sudden thought. A part of me will always love you. Belly and Conrad + Christmas | The Summer I Turned Pretty — 3.02

im noticing the halsey/fantano conversation slowly being turned around on the freedom to express criticism, which is a valid point but not contextually relevant given his incredibly insensitive and misogynistic comments about her personal life under the guise of an 'edgy review' of their album. he hasn't "broken the pop industry" or pissed off someone who can't accept criticism, he crossed a line with a review that, instead of focusing on the actual album, invalidated the experiences the album stemmed from. he is a Loser for defending his review and funnily enough, should be more open to constructive criticism himself
My faith in you was fading When I met you on the outskirts of town
PHOEBE BRIDGERS "Lost Boys" (2026)
you will never catch me complaining about an actress on a tv show having an imperfectly concealed pregnancy or a character going on a sudden trip somewhere while her actress is on maternity leave. so many actresses (and women working in any other field) are fired, punished and pressured into making reproductive decisions for their employers' convenience & if i have to try a bit harder to suspend my disbelief then that's absolutely what i'm going to do if it means people are getting to exercise reproductive & bodily autonomy without punishment
loving the mob vibes of father figure. okay go off taylor soprano

ngl it is VERY funny to see people online who don't pay attention to minor pop girl feuds acting like taylor coming for charli is punching down against a poor innocent defenseless cokehead whose only crime is insecurity as if charli herself didn't release a song calling fka twigs a broke whore who's only relevant because she fucks white men for clout just last year. if anything taylor should've been bitchier. charli can take it
by the way: pretty sure taylor is not recreating the ophelia painting by millais like we assumed, but this one by friedrich heyser
Taylor Swift as Ophelia in The Fate of Ophelia music video
tbh it is kind of odd that people frame taylor "still" writing about high school as immature or try to pathologize it ("it was the last time she lived a normal life!!!"). with the exception of so high school, all of her recent songs about high school (the teenage love triangle, ruin the friendship) have been somewhat fictional, and ... tons of adults write stories about teenagers. coming-of-age is a whole genre and there are many things that make high school/being a teenager very distinct from other ages and thus interesting to write about. the teenage love triangle is a great example because it covers first love (cardigan), budding sexuality and parent-less freedom (august), being really concerned with what others think of you and letting it influence your choices a little too much (betty), staples of a lot of coming of age stories. "when you are young they assume you know nothing [...] but i knew everything when i was young" and "i'm only seventeen, i don't know anything but i know i miss you" capture puberty's tightrope walk of "i'm new to this world and there's so much i don't know yet!" and yet having such strong emotional conviction so beautifully. why are we acting like there's a cutoff age to writing about a very influential time in life?
like. it would not occur to me to think of j. d. salinger or jeffrey eugenides as stunted because they wrote the catcher in the rye and the virgin suicides. teenagers are kind of a top 5 most popular thing to write about.
