The Cleveland Cavaliers just landed the number one pick in the draft - again. And we can't hate on the cry baby, scumbag of an owner, Dan Gilbert - again, because of his son being adorable, in a make-you-feel-guilty-if-you-don't-think-he's-adorable kind of way - again....... And Lebron James still isn't coming home.
Rapper ScHoolboy Q drops true-to-lyric visual song from one of the more chilling songs on his debut album, "OxyMoron." The song is called "Hoover Street." Check the lyrics down below. Fly on.
[Verse 1:]
Find a nigga realer than me, my socks stink
Eat so much pussy that my mustache pink
Strapping, my pants seam, no need for a belt
Gangsta lean help, hoodie on backwards with the eyes cut out
My hate felt, my.45 elder, poetry's deep
I never fail ya, Schoolboy bust flame
Orange-yellow, higher than Margiela's
Since a young nigga I admired the crack sellers, seen my uncle steal
From his mother, now that's the money that I'm talking 'bout
Think about it, the smoker ain't got shit and everyday he still get a hit
Whether jacking radio's or sucking dick
Sell his kids and chop his wrists and sealing his lips
Cause he don't want the feds arresting his fix, didn't take much
To get me convinced, coincidence that I ain't fucking with work
Now let's re-rewind it, answer my church
Times getting harder than my dick on a growth spurt
Around the same time all you niggas was on purp
My sober ass was snatching her purse, make the ice cream truck freeze
Give me the keys, extra Frito's, chili and cheese
Threw some Baby Lucas in his eyes before I leave
The cops'll never get the leak, grandma taught me well
And my uncle gun was the accessory, 211 sipping plus a robbery
This little Piggy went to market, this little Piggy carry chrome
[Hook]
[Verse 2:]
Grandma said she loved me, I told her I loved her more
She always got me things that we couldn't afford
The new J's and Tommy Hill in my drawers
Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, Golden Eye was away at war
We wasn't thinking of getting money then
Nor did I wonder why my uncle done sold his Benz
Cause he been tripping now, he sweats a lot and slimming down
I also notice moms be locking doors when he around
But anyways, he wife done left him and now he living with us
My bike is missing, grandma light a hotter chick every month
My uncle's nuts, he used to give me Whisky to piss in cups
Knocking on the door telling me to hurry up, he in a rush
I gave it to him then got my ass whipped for doing it
Moms used to tell me like "nigga, know who you dealing with"
Them was the good days 'til I was raised the older ways
Rat-Tone my niggas' brother showed me my first K
I was amazed, me and Floyd was in the back, he called us over like "Hey"
YAWK, YAWK, YAWK, YAWK! We like "Damn, nigga"
Then again, YAWK, YAWK! We like "Damn, nigga"
Hearing him say cause turned us to a fan, nigga
Later on he got locked so know we're taking his fades
Continue the chapter from his life, we flipping that page
Gangbanging was a ritual and grandma would help
She should've never left her gun on the shelf
This little Piggy went to market, this little Piggy carry chrome
Jay Z and Beyonce trailer for [fake] movie, "RUN."
Even in light of the recent drama, the still almighty power couple, self proclaimed '03 Bonnie & Clide (throwback much) dropped some pretty sick visuals for an even sicker idea - a trailer for a movie that's never coming out. Does the plot/premise/storyline/arch of the film look good? Not at all - but that's not what trailers are for. Trailers are always cool, no matter what. The coolest couple in America would obviously know this. Actual films are, like, work and stuff.....
P.S - We all see the irony in the timing of this right? If I'm Jay I'm wondering how Beyonce could be down to buss' at the cops and rob banks and hold down the choppa' for me and all that but somehow let her Neo-Soul DJ sister fire on me at will in a hotel elevator in front of white folks like it's all gravy. Keep on flying, Z-Yonce. (Does that work?)
The King of Pop came alive again for one night only at the BBMA to claim his throne through a hologram. You decide if it's creepy or cool. Just seems like some highly ambitious tech nerds/MJ fans trying to fly high as possible to me. Sing/dance along with the lyrics to the King's new song down below.
She dances in these sheets at night
She dances to his needs
She dances 'til he feels just right
Until he falls asleep
She dances at the crack of dawn
And quickly cooks his food
She can't be late, can't take too long
The kids must get to school
[Chorus: x2]
She's a slave to the rhythm
She's a slave to the rhythm of
She's a slave to the rhythm
A slave to the rhythm of,
The rhythm of love, the rhythm of love
She dances for the man at work
Who works her overtime
She can't be rude as she says,
"I must be home tonight."
She dances to the kitchen stove
Dinner is served by nine
He says his food's an hour late
She must be outta her mind
[Chorus]
She works so hard, just to make her way
For a man who just don't appreciate
And though he takes her love in vain
Still she could not stop, couldn't break his chains
She danced the night that they fell out
She swore she'd dance no more
But then she did, he did not quit as she ran out the door
She danced through the night in fear of her life
She danced to a beat of her own
She let out a cry and swallowed her pride
She knew she was needed back home, home
[Chorus x5]

As mentioned earlier today, last week was the premier of the new season of rapper Odd Future and Tyler, The Creator's sketch comedy show, "Loiter Squad."
Tyler and his day-one friends that make up the collective Odd Future have been soaring for a few years now; they're not new to the skies or the winds - and judging purely off the strength of how original they keep hitting with their projects, this included, it doesn't look like they'll be landing any time soon. Shoutout to young talent, and adult swim for recognizing it. Maybe you and your friends can do it too.
This one was an especially funny one. Check it out. With the season 3 premiere of "Loiter Squad" a few nights earlier, Adult Swim is back on a roll. The synopsis for this episode entitled Freedom Ride or Die reads "A young Granddad is held as an unwilling freedom rider on a trip through the racist South." In this season, Grandad is back to his old ways of talking higher than he's ever flown, and it seems to catch up to him in this particular episode. Again, pretty hilarious. Hit the ask box and let me know what you think!

Episode 3 premiere of Puffy Slicks, a new web series by a select group of high flying, soaring and talented CUNY students.
Puffy Slick’s is a weekly comedy series about an open mic night set in the fictional ‘Puffy Slick’s Bar and Music Hall.’ The show revolves around two college students; the chirpy open mic director Meera and her infinitely friend-zoned assistant Lipton, and their attempts to control horrible rehearsals, vampire techies, and the general stupidity of the crew and lineup.
Puffy Slick's is directed by Rachel Finley with a cast and crew of only Macaulay Honors College and CUNY students. - Puffy Slicks' Official website
Fresh off the heels one of the best years of his life, hand crafting the single two biggest songs of last year (Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and Daft Punk's "Get Lucky"), with "G I R L," Pharrell Williams released what can quite possibly be considered the happiest album to drop in the past 4 years.
In a melancholic music climate controlled by the likes of the albeit insanely talented but sometimes punishingly somber Drake, Frank Ocean, and The Weeknd - not to mention the newly infuriated king of popular music, Kanye West - Pharrell's new blindingly sunny LP is something to be marveled.
From sincerely naming his first single "Happy," to featuring the universally scrutinized and the often labeled vapid Miley Cyrus on the best song, to posing with two white women and an extremely fair skinned black woman on the cover, in the midst of an identity crisis in black music - Pharrell seemingly checked off every item on his list of album "don'ts," and somehow made it work. Just for some perspective, consider the fact that just last week, Schoolboy Q revived hardcore, unapologetic gangster rap with "Oxymoron," one of the most beautifully menacing and sonically pleasing gangster rap albums since 50 Cent's "Get Rich or Die Trying." In addition, on the same day no less, Kid Cudi released arguably the saddest album of his career, which if you know Kid Cudi's music, you understand how high (or low) of a bar that is to reach. And then there's Pharrell, who with a mix of sugary modern pop and 70's funk revival, created an album that could make the coldest of hearts fall in love with the idea of falling in love at the very least.
With the sort of commitment of a concept album, Pharrell's affectionate sophomore effort "G I R L" falls just two weeks too late for valentines day, and about a month too early for spring flings to be as apropos as it could be. That's the beauty of this album, though; anywhere or anytime you listen to it, whether you're broken hearted behind such-and-such or head over heels for so-and-so, whether you're single, dating, married, or anywhere in between - it's love, you're love, life is love, and it's all the way right.
Fly straight to love with the mad happy genius, Pharrell, as your captain.
Who Flew in February?: A Look Back At Last Months Superhumans.
A few days removed from our shortest month, it's time to take a look back at who flew the highest and who aimed the furthest in February. It was a good month for courage, musical excellence, physical excellence, and as we always hope is the case for February (black history month), it was a good month for equality awareness.
Here's a list of youcanflyfar's most extraordinary human beings of last month:
Social Progress in the NBA and NFL:
Jason Collins and Michael Sam can fly.
Despite pessimists preparing to declare is career a wrap in light of his coming out, last month Jason Collins became the NBA's first active and openly gay player when he signed a 10 day contract with the Brooklyn Nets. Similar strides were made when Michael Sam came out before the NFL scouting combine. With the NFL draft being in May, let's hope Michael can fly as far as Jason and become the first openly gay player to be drafted in NFL history. In the wake of a season made infamous by Riley Cooper spewing hate at a country music concert, the disturbingly uncomfortable Richie Incognito/Johnathan Martin bullying scandal, and the racially charged media crucifixion of Richard Sherman, the NFL sorely needs Michael Sam's story to prove - well, whatever it was they were trying to prove with the damage control for all of the aforementioned incidents.
The Seahawks' Wings Can't Be Clipped:
Underdogs can fly too.
Most teams with as many question marks attached to their name as the Seahawks would probably fry underneath the heat of the Super Bowl lights. Despite statistically having the number one defense in the NFL, the Seattle Seahawks were somehow underdogs heading into the championship game against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.
An underdog winning anything is always cause for inspiration, but while the Seahawks managed to fly as a unit, the individual accomplishments of some people on the team is what makes this feat a special one.
As mention earlier, one incident the 2013-2014 NFL season will be known for is the unfair and racially tinged backlash Richard Sherman received after his post game "rant" just two weeks before the Superbowl. A month removed from the game, a championship ring and a few dozen interviews later, it's apparent that Richard Sherman flies farther when there's a chip on his shoulder. The same could be said for QB Russell Wilson and head coach Pete Carroll. One was once said to be too short to play the position, and the other had detractors call his previous NFL coaching stint into question. Today Russell Wilson is the QB of a Super Bowl winning team, and Pete Carroll now has both an NFL and an NCAA championship on his resume.
Love Conquers the Grammys:
The ceiling can't hold Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, or marriage.
Scored by Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, and Mary Lambert, ordained by Queen Latifah, and made extra by Madonna, over 30 couples were married at the 56th annual Grammys - the newly wed heterosexual, homosexual, and interracial couples all flew with millions of viewers at home as their witnesses.
Macklemore's high flying night was capped off by winning 4 of the 7 awards he was nominated for. After that night, the notion of love conquering all is no longer a cliche.
It only makes sense to let the young moonwalkers and skydivers of the world know that one of their [should-be] heroes just booked an early flight.
Seasoned flyer, Kid Cudi, just released his fourth solo studio album months ahead of schedule. The outer-space obsessed rapper reclaimed his original tripped out style of music with Satellite Flight: Journey to Mother Moon. Originally scheduled for an April release date, with this soundtrack to fantasy, Cudi is giving the dreamers a chance to pack their bags a little early and escape these last few dog days of winter with a head full of warmth - don't miss the flight!
With a signature love-struck voice, indicative of a miraculously functioning heart that’s been duct-taped back together too many times to count, Nasira makes music for those who feel like they’ve flown around the world and back, collecting story after story.
If asked, the Maryland native would probably tell you that she didn’t fly to New York from Silver Spings so much by plane, but instead off the strength of her unwavering devotion to all things music. Nasira performs and engineers her own work, plays the guitar, and has aspirations of being an influential song-writer in the business. In fact, since her move to Harlem, she tells me her most treasured memory in the business so far has nothing to do with her own recording career. Nasira claims the time she wrote a demo chorus for a song by G.O.O.D Music’s CyHi the Prynce as her proudest moment in music. With the transparency she allows in songs like “Temple,” Nasira hopes to breathe life into the now fragmented, propped up, and synthesized New York City music scene.
"I was 17, that's when I felt it all. I met someone, and actually gave my all. Who knew in the end that he would take me and break me?" - Temple by Nasira, produced by John Music
After seeing her trade in her long, luxurious hair for a new and bold "slicked back on the top, buzz cut on the sides" hairstyle, along with moving to the EDM capitol of the world with a guitar in hand and an affinity for country music, I think it's safe to say Nasira isn't afraid to fly.
New Yorkers will have to somehow look past our world famous skyline in order to see just how far she'll go.
