I literally dance at oireachtas tomorrow and I’m weirdly calm but also freakin out because I want to reach my goal soooo bad but at the same time I trained so much the last couple months I don’t think there was anything more I could have done to prepare 😣😣

12th in the 22&O! A personal best at the age of 27, after 21 years of dancing! I really struggled this year with self doubt and exhaustion and not being able to train due to my work taking all my spare time, so this feels like such a blessing. I am always honored to compete against the talented and amazing women I dance with, and as I enter 2019—Which I plan to be my last year as a competitor—I feel healed, humbled, rejuvenated, and just at peace with who I am as a dancer. Balancing everything in my life sometimes feels overwhelming but I am so, so lucky to be able to live what I love.

What is my annual oireachtas freak out about this time around?

I was dancing soooo much better before I sprained my ankle (stil can’t really do rocks) and I just know if I don’t reach my goal this year I’m gonna be having flashbacks to that moment when it all went wrong

This past weekend I participated in the All Scotland Championships in Glasgow, my first solo major. I danced in the senior ladies prelim category. All in all I had a lovely time and the competition itself was a good experience. My dances are far from perfect but I feel that I now know what to work on for Helsinki Feis and the Mainland European Oireachtas. Also, considering the circumstances in which I dance (I started as an adult, my teacher lives in a different country and I see her at best 4 times/year, I practice alone because all the other dancers in our school live in different cities), having advanced into open over the past year and a half, and actually dancing at All Scots is such a big thing for me :)
