Head Erased
Hard to believe that your head dances At graceful overdrive As the vinyl spins, the butterfly shines Like you came down the clouds or stars But I am surely waiting For you to sing your ballad with a smile It left me enthused, made me left-handed It made me afraid and so joyful
I can’t question the illusion Like thoughts about the Spoliarium But my brother as well gasped at the image so wonderful
When I went to the store where Nena was I think that was last semester break We saw you there, waiting for the bus I waved, but nothing; but you waved back You said you recognized me back When we were young at the playground Then you invited me, out of sight “Hey Jay, would you like to sing with me tonight?”
I replied, “I’d like a fine time, but I feel unworthy.” Yet you said, “Do not be afraid. Take off that mask ‘cause you are brave!”
And years go by after you wishing well You were right to say those words Now, nothing changed but your luscious hair That put you in a magazine But you spiraled into alcohol and had life break part And that very night, your life passed like a torpedo when you danced and sang your ballad I don’t like to recall as I pass the poor man's grave As I kept wishing to fill you with love the world has to offer
Sometimes, I wish to taste that time back When you danced like a rainbow Made us unbox the joy that came to us When we danced to El Bimbo

Leave be their wooden supports and windows As we know that they remain still and sift Until it comes that the silver time shows When weary hands place them back with a lift
But let not heads turn away from the glows That neons and palettes wrote on the walls Dancing frames light up as the daydream grows Leaving nothing but lint to roam the halls
There, they lie what the time capsule remained Dried leaves that grew from a bygone era But nothing found on every floor contained Only the seeds of a buried terra
