December 10, 2002: Aaliyah’s posthumous compilation album ‘I Care 4 U’ is released. A greatest hits disc that included 6 previously unreleased tracks and a DVD that featured some of Aaliyah’s music videos. ‘I Care 4 U’ entered the U.S. Billboard 200 at #3 and at #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and was certified platinum on January 15, 2003 💜

Dearest sweet Aaliyah, 

Last week I felt like my world was collapsing. I had just received devastating news and I didn’t know how to process it. I didn’t know how to deal with it. Being strong suddenly seemed like a foreign concept and so I buckled under the intense emotion that kept washing over me in waves. As in all defining moments of my life, I turn to you. I place my headphones over my ears and hit play on my phone allowing your haunting vocals to seep through and soothe my raging soul. 

“Here take my hand and, wipe those tears from your eyes…”

The irreplaceable, AALIYAH! I went to the same high school as Aaliyah(Detroit School of Arts). Myself and a few others were able to get the yearbook from her junior and senior year. I damn near FOUGHT to get one😂 I’m glad I was able to walk the same halls as her in that old raggedy original DSA building😂 That building and the kids were special man.
