🌱Open 🌱

Bambi had awoken before the crack of dawn sneaking out of the den wanting to explore the world by himself, just for a little while. Everything was quiet for the most part, which was how he liked things, minus the ground softly crunching underneath his hooves as he moved. The fawn’s black tipped ears perked up in excitement at the morning birds chirping their merry songs, mice were emerging from their homes, he even spotted a rabbit or two. 

Yes, everything was perfect, until he heard a twig snap which caused the young prince to stand perfectly still. “Hello?” he called out wondering in the back of his mind if it was somebody he knew...or something else entirely. “W-who’s out there?”

“Really?” he asked quietly as he spotted a mouse out of the corner of his eye as it ran past the two deer, disappearing within seconds. “Even something as small as a mouse or an ant? How do they do that Mother? They aren’t big like we are so how can they change things?”

"Oh uh h-hi Faline." the male fawn greeted sheepishly as he picked himself up from the ground. Looks like somebody had been watching his log leaping practice after all. "Sorry that you had to see that. I'm-not that good at it yet."

"Bambi!" the little skunk shouted from across the field. "I was looking everywhere for you! Where have you been?"

"Hello Flower!" the fawn smiled as he spotted his friend’s distinctive striped tail sticking up across the field. Breaking into a small run after looking over his shoulder, Bambi came to a halt looking down a the little skunk. "Sorry I haven’t been around much." he apologized. "My Dad’s been asking me to go on forest watches a lot more now and they can take forever sometimes. How have you and Thumper been?"

Bambi began to smile, just a little. Humans sure were strange creatures from the sounds of things. "Oh, yes sir." the young deer replied with a small nod of his head. Though in the back of his mind, he couldn't help but wonder what Man was like, especially if they set up temporary dens and just gawked at the forest animals. From the sounds of it they seemed absolutely harmless unless one were alone in a field. "So if we're supposed to stay away from them, what are we looking for out in the forest?"
