2. Anything that you'd like to write but feel like you're unable to?

I wish I could do more meta/essay-type writing but I really struggle with... the whole process, actually. Saying coherent things, making a point, those kind of things. Maybe once I've put my thesis behind me I'll get some mental bandwidth back for that

I've also been distantly considering a Disco Elysium fic about Harry being an Innocent and sparking another communist revolution, but it feels like the kind of story that's 230k words of canon divergence with academic footnotes that I don't think I have the chops for at the moment. Also I don't actually have tangible thoughts, only a works cited list, a playlist and a bunch of quotes from Toni Morrison's Jazz

Did you know that Anikostosis was initially 13k words, and as I was (not as I am) was meant to be a snippet to get rid of an old plot bunny?

36. How do you come up with fic titles? What's the one you're most proud of?

Unless something immediately comes to mind, they're usually a reference to something! I rummage through my hoard of citations and poems whenever I need to come up with a new title, or I take lyrics from a song that inspired the story. Otherwise I'm usually quite unoriginal.

I'm still quite proud of the titles for Doctrine of Worship and Lodestar, they're among the few I didn't borrow from anywhere else and I think they really match the vibe of each story :)

4. Do you have any OCs? Do you have a story for them?

Oh boy do I.

I always have more OCs running around my brain than I know what to do with, mostly because I get really attached to my player character in MMOs and isometric rpgs and I want to write about the Ordeals I make them go through...

First one that comes to mind is my pillars of eternity Watcher, Renard, because that game made me so, SO insane, but of course my real OCs Moment(tm) came with Destiny 2, especially my beloved baby boy Razel and my rotten problematic child Occam. I've spent more time discussing oc lore with @baronetcoins and @kingstealer than actually playing the game by now

Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence my beloved <3

Canon is what I like about the original media, even when it sucks ass (looking at you, Blizzard), but I'm also an AU fiend, so I just love a What If scenario.

Daemons AU. Animal symbolism AND characters having no choice but to bare their soul to others? Cannot be beat

Soulmates AU where it IS possible for one or both soulmates to be unaware of the bond. I love yearning!!

22. What is it about watching the same two idiots falling in love over and over again?

It's the best of both worlds!! Endless first meetings and micro adjustments, with the emotional attachment and narrative depth of an established relationship. Truly the epitome of "it's about the journey not the destination".

39. Wildest AU scenario you have written?

I'm exceedingly boring when it comes to AUs because canon is my estranged wife that I'm still in love with, but probably Ahamkara AU honestly? I mean, "main character is a wish-granting shapeshifting space dragon in disguise and no one, himself included, knew about it, and now he's being put on trial about it and Space Twitter has opinions on that" is a whole Concept.

I am sorry to inform you that Blizzard Got Me. I have been got. All @waterloggedcreature had to say was "they remade Silvermoon" and I was already pre-ordering Midnight. I haven't had time to boot up the game yet but I am VERY excited to run around and get hopelessly distracted!!

I'm still turning Lodestar in my mind even after posting it but writing in Julien's voice is like holding onto an armful of live eels so have some disorganized thoughts about the episode 8 cold open ft undead soulmate instead

OBVIOUSLY I'm gnawing on that "I figured I could sleep when the boy did but he's more restless than I anticipated" line

In canon I assume Julien is feeling a little paranoid about Occtis and wants to keep an eye on him when he's up and around in case he goes full Evil Undead, which is. reasonable.

But what I'm picturing is: Julien with a fey bond to Occtis, feeling his presence like a clammy hand on the back of his neck. There's a cold weight in the pit of his stomach. He can't seem to get quite enough air. And when he lies down, closes his eyes and tries to sleep, he feels his heart heaving, his ribs caving in, like a hole opened beneath him, a continuous hypnic jerk. Like it's sleep that's unnatural and wrong.

I think the hearts of soulmates beat in unison (Aranessa probably had a lot of Thjazi-induced heart palpitations while she sat doing nothing strenuous whatsoever) but Occtis doesn't have a heart anymore, so instead Julien feels... a phantom heartbeat, syncopated from his own. Does it come from Occtis' instinctive reflex, the same way he breathes out of habit even though it brings no relief, or Julien's own perception of what should be there but isn't? It's fun when his problems are self-inflicted, however unconsciously, but I'm also pretty excited to dig into what necromancy feels like through a soul-bond (especially since the Golden Orchard is pretty strongly Life-Coded(tm)) and that could be part of it
