deku, todo, and baku reactions to meeting their s/o’s giant dog?
I’m assuming you meant to ask for headcanons? Because headcanons are what you’re getting ( = v=)/ (Also heads up for rusty headcannons….)
It should really surprise his s/o that the boy with the strength of several generations of heroes piled up on him is terrified of their big dog. He’s never had a pet of his own, although his mom would have absolutely allowed for one, so meeting your dog was definitely outside of his comfort zone and makes him act especially awkward around this dog.
It will take him some time to know what to do with his s/o’s dog other than shuffling out of the room whenever possible after patting the dog’s head in the most awkward fashion possible. So a s/o that can slowly teach him that, well, there’s more places you can pat a dog and that he’s bringing him toys to play because it sees him as a friend would be the most beneficial.
A couple of weeks with that, and Midoriya would settle in comfortably around this big dog. To anybody else, it would even seem as if the hero-in-training had always grown up around dogs!
When this giant, furry beast comes at him at full speed after their s/o opens the door to their house, Todoroki freezes (no pun intended). It’s obvious in that instant that he’s never had a dog, much less a pet–why would his father ever want a dog and with what energy would his mother devote to one? Getting a pet was beyond question, and it wasn’t even a question Todoroki even thought.
But now he’s face to face with this huge beast, which is more than he can handle. He definitely has a pretty apprehensive relationship, and their s/o should be careful with the first couple of interactions or it could easily turn him off of dogs altogether–they can be pretty loud, annoying, and let’s not even mention the slobber.
However, by slowly getting used to their dog, Todoroki definitely falls in love with this huge dog. There’s obviously something that calls to him about the fact that this dog loves him unconditionally and is always excited to see him even if they are strangers. There isn’t much the boy can do to make this dog wag his tail like crazy when they as much as make eye contact.
He won’t openly ask his s/o for the chance to see their dog more, but he sure will make hints, and, depending on how desperate he is, they may be as subtle as looking at videos of the same breed of dog as his s/o’s.
He’s absolutely thrilled. His parents had never allowed any pets in his household, just like Todoroki’s, but he had always wanted one. Especially a dog. A giant dog at that, too. There’s not even a bit of effort put into his part in hiding that huge grin when this giant dog comes galloping towards him.
It’s a good thing this dog is so giant (or maybe it’s because this dog is giant) because he’s not particularly gentle with it during play time. In fact, most of their interactions involve a lot of “wrestling” if you can call him that, where the boy flips the dog and the dog pounces on him to slobber him up. It’s kinda high intensity and leaves both of them tired, but pretty content.
Obviously, his poor handling skills with dogs get better. The learning curve is even steeper if this dog ever yelps during play sessions. It leaves Bakugou surprised and ashamed that he hurt a friend, so he quickly corrects the behavior even though he’s relieved that this dog is quick to give him kisses again in forgiveness.
Expect him to ask to go to their house often to play with the dog. Extra points if he ever moves in with his s/o. He’ll definitely be getting a dog with them.
