This guy I met on Tinder. He seems nice and fun, but we have been talking for weeks and haven’t met up. I ask him why he doesn’t want to meet and he just says he is busy and can’t get off work.. We haven’t even video chat. Just seems a bit fishy to me.

See, when something like that happens then yeah, I’ll be thinking the guy is playing me. But why go through the trouble of talking in the first place if he’s never going to meet up and suck your dick or go on a date? Has he tried to get you to buy him shit or share your credit card info?

“A fire fighter and a volunteer? Impressive.” Kristina didn’t know much about a fire fighter’s works schedule, but she knew that they weren’t slouches and that worked very long hours. So him having time to volunteer at an animal shelter also was very impressive to her. “Nice to meet you also. And yes, I would love to play with him. I don’t know what it is about him, but I swear I fell in love on the spot.” Kristina hasn’t been this excited about anything in a while. And she knows that spending more time with Sugar will just motivate her enough to talk to Chloe about adopting a dog. She is sure that she would fall in with her also. 

There was a chuckle at this and it wasn’t that Matt felt like he was hot shit. Far from it, but he did like the reaction people gave him whenever they realized the type of guy he is. That was before they learned he was a giant pain in the ass but even that amused him to an extent. “Yep. That’s me. Mr. Impressive.” He joked and found the door which led to the back of the glass-covered enclosures. “Come along with me. Have to put her back in her cage and I’ll take you to Sugar. I’ll put a sheet up to say he’s got a home lined up so nobody else claims him.” He walked and talked, casually looking her way. “You don’t need to know what makes you fall for an animal. They’re too cute not to want to snuggle with them all.”

Kristina awwed at the puppy licking his face. She was obviously grateful. “What do you do for a living?” She knew she tended to get a bit nosy, but he did mention his schedule. “Yea, I believe if I talked to her she wouldn’t mind. I just haven’t gotten around to doing that. I always end up forgetting.” Kristina smiled at him. “You would do that? I’m sure I can get an answer in a few days, but if you’re willing to, then I can’t say no.” Kristina was ecstatic because she really wanted him. “Wait, we have been talking and I don’t know your name. I’m Kristina.”

“Right. Would be good to share that when I tell you I have a crazy work schedule. I’m a fire fighter. There’s a station just around the corner from here. It’s basically my second home with how much time I spend there.” He grinned as he went and led her down the small hallway where Sugar was kept. “I’ve got nothing but time on my hands and it’ll give me time to spend with a dog. If I didn’t work long ass shifts I would adopt at least two of these on the spot.” He looked at Roxy and gave her head a quick kiss. “Even this one here.” he grinned. “I’m Matt. Great to meet you, Kristina. Do you want me to see if they’ll let you play with Sugar?”

Kristina pointed to a cage that held the pug she brought in. “I think they call him Percy, but my Sugar name suits him just fine as well.” Kristina was glad to know that he was doing well, and hoped that someone would adopt him soon. Kristina’s eyes lit up at the mention of Roxy having a home. “Well she is the luckiest pup around. I think I found a kindred spirit in Roxy.” Kristina loved to be pampered also. She loved going to the spa and nail salons and hair salons. It made her feel good. “So ever given any thought about adoption? Or do you have your own pets waiting for you at home?”

“Sugar sounds like a good name for him.” Matt said as he went to put the clippers in disinfectant and picked up Roxy, who promptly licked the side of his face. “No pets but I do want to adopt except my work schedule makes it hell to keep an animal.” He said as he walked around, holding Roxy as if she were his own. “Do you think if you talk to your roommate they’ll open up to the idea of getting a pet? Because I have a couple free weeks from work coming up and I can always adopt Sugar over there. That way you don’t lose him to someone else.” Matt offered, running his fingers across the back of Roxy’s neck.

“Oh, well I have a roommate and I didn’t want to just bring in a stray dog off the streets without her permission. I’m sure she’ll be fine with it, but I don’t want to surprise her or anything.” Kristina smiled at the little puppy, and smiled wider at the name.  Kristina always thought that people who volunteered were had one of the biggest heart. To dedicate your time, without compensation, said a lot about people, and made them more attractive to her. “This is very noble of you. I’m sure Roxy here and the other dogs appreciate the hours you put it here. Is there a reason you don’t want to adopt?”

“Ah. I gotcha. Which dog did you bring in? Do you know what they named it?” He asked, taking care of the other paw while they talked. Matt went to the back and went to work on those paws, which was greet by Roxy moving her foot out of his hand each time he tried to trim it. “I’m sure the other dogs appreciate it. Not this one though. She probably sees me as the biggest inconvenience in her life. But she has a home lined up for her and we need to give her the royal treatment she expects before she’s pampered by someone else.”

Kristina chuckled at that. If there was ever a dog that was her spirit animal, this one would be it. “No, I just come here to check on the little pup I found the other day. I brought him here and I’m just making sure he’s in good hands. Do you work here or volunteer?” She pauses before continuing. “I have a bit of a soft spot for pups. I even gave him a little nick name. I call him sugar. What’s this one’s name?”

Matt had to give it to her, to be able to give up a dog but still come in to check on it says a lot about a person. Though, his nosy ass had to ask, “Why didn’t you keep the dog?” He managed to clip a couple nails and declared victory when it came to one paw. “Volunteer. I live around the corner and when I’m not working I don’t do much else so I thought why not put my time in where it counts? You get to spend your hours with Roxy here. Isn’t that right, sweet girl.” he said to the dog again, whose tail went berserk from the attention.

Kristina had about a million and one things to do today which included working at the dinner for three hours after work, and preparing for tomorrow’s lessons. So she had no business stopping in at the animal shelter. But ever since she found a lost dog, and took him into the shelter a few days ago, she has been visiting said dog. She didn’t like him being without family and she was secretly hoping that the staff was being good to him. When she walked in, she walked straight to where the dogs were. She smiled at the man and with the nail clippers. She didn’t know much about pet grooming, but she thought it was funny that they had to basically get pedicures. “Do all puppies get their nail clipped, or is this one a little high maintenance?”

Matt looked to the woman who came in, someone new as he’d remember a pretty face like hers. “This one is a little special. She likes her nails trimmed a certain way and I’m sure if she can speak she’ll tell me she wants me to paint them, too.” he said as he set the clippers down and went to pet the dog affectionately. “Are you a new volunteer? Or looking to adopt a pet?” His fingers kept rubbing the back of the dog’s ears, massaging her slowly to calm her down enough so he can return to the task at hand.

Matt wanted a dog. This wasn’t new but when it came to his schedule it made it virtually impossible to go out and get one. Every once in awhile, when he had free time, he would go to the shelter and volunteer. It was tough, damn tough, to leave that place at the end of the day without an animal in need of a loving home. Which was where he was at the moment. There was an hour or so left before it was time to call it a day and he was at the stage where he battled with his heart to bring one of these adorable and sweet to his house. “It’s hard to not adopt all of these little guys,” he said with a nail clipper in his hand, struggling with a dog to get it’s nails clipped.

Personally I’m a Rockets guy. You been keeping up with their games? They’re 1st in Western Conference. The playoffs are gonna be awesome this year.

Seats are towards the front. Not courtside which would’ve been awesome but about 8 rows back. You into basketball?

The week’s been a busy one. Had a brutal test to get through today but now it’s done and over with.
