Yule

What is Yule?

Yule is the winter solstice, which is the shortest day and longest night of the entire year. Depending on the practice, there are many different things you can celebrate during Yule. A few of these are the birth of the Sun God, the Oak King’s triumph over the Holly King, or Odin’s Wild Hunt. Regardless of which origin you prefer, Yule is the time to celebrate the return of light and to celebrate the optimism that comes with it. Yule lasts for 12 days, starting on the winter solstice

100 Year Garlic

What is this?

Honey fermented garlic, or "100 year garlic", is an incredible addition to your witchy pantry. It's really quite simple - fresh peeled garlic cloves, fermented for two weeks in unpasteurized honey. Once fermented, this mixture lasts indefinitely if stored properly, and becomes an amazing thing to have on hand for cold and flu season - as well as a delicious addition to your cooking.

Don't forget to burp it daily (sometimes twice daily!) for the first two weeks! This is an important step.

How does it help me?

Garlic and honey are both high in antioxidants to begin with. Fermenting them together naturally creates probiotics that aid in digestion and stomach health.

A spoonful of honey (or a whole clove of garlic, if you're brave) helps coat and soothe a sore throat. A tablespoon of the honey added to hot water, lemon, and a pinch of cayenne can be just the thing when you're feeling all stuffed up with that winter cold.

**Remember - food as medicine is used to supplement and support proper medical care, not replace it!

But is it witchy?

Oh, very.

Honey has long been used in a variety of magical practices and rituals, often as a sweetener, to bind a spell, or even anoint candles. If you do deity work, honey can also be used as an offering!

Garlic has a well documented history as a protective vegetable. It can be used as protection, to repel unwanted spirits and visitors, to bless a new home, and even to boost and enhance your spells.

Given all of this, the combination of garlic and honey to create a living organism (via fermentation) has some incredible magical implications! What would you use this potent combination for in your practice?

Red, the most fiery color, attracts and magnetizes. It must be used with discernment though, to prevent disaster from occurring. The shade of red that is used in your magick is very important. For beginners, stick to the brighter and lighter shades of red, and leave the darker shades for the more experienced. The darker shades are for battles and wars, blood, hate, and danger.

Sunday is the best day to use the color orange. Orange can also be used on Tuesday or Wednesday successfully. If used on Tuesday, the emphasis is on Physical action, and if used on Wednesday, the emphasis is on mental action. Sunday is a balance of both.

Green is the color of luck! Except for with money. Money that is sought from this color often trickles in slowly. Look to gold or brown for more help with money. Green stimulates growth, especially with your garden and communication with plant life and/or garden faeries. It’s an Earth color, and is best used on Friday.

Blue soothes and cools, calming anger, violence, and hate. It gives peace and harmony, and understanding of the spiritual realms. It has mostly feminine energy, and is ruled by either the Moon, Venus or Saturn, depending on the hue of blue used. Many people think that the royal blue has male energy, and is for Jupiter, but this is all up to the practitioner.

Purple is the color of expansion, and if you want to do something big, purple is the color you should use. Purple will expand whatever in your life you would like it to, like prosperity or love. Royal blues are much less expansive, and are associated with Jupiter. Darker blues are for Saturn.

Any of those three colors can be used on Sunday with success. Gold is intelligent action or action that is motivated by knowledge. Usually, healing, money, or wealth is in mind.

 Mix and mash the ingredients to make a fertilizer. Spread it around the base of your plant and mix a bit into the soil. Then basically, what you do is what’s happening in the gif after tending to your garden. My kid and I did this after planting our starts earlier today except she jumped at the end for emphasis.

Valheim + Magic

For all the Norse Pagans out there BOY OH BOY IS THIS THE GAME FOR YOU!

This game gives you a LOT of freedoms as to what you want to do. There is a main quest/storyline that you can follow but it is NOT required to enjoy the game!

The building mechanic in this game is a bit more rigid then other games like Minecraft where you can build with no limits. So you can definitely make your viking style worship house ;D

Sometimes if it’s raining or dark you can find Odin watching you from a distance (he looked a bit like the grim reaper but you could see a glowing eye from under the hood)

And apparently you can also see Thor riding through the sky if it’s particularly stormy!

Also you can keep bees in this game which was really nice for actual later game progression for those who enjoy the main storyline

This is a really nice game and I Highly recommend it!
