“Pidge?” Shiro asked, walking into the room Colleen and Pidge were in. “Oh hi Colle- uh Mrs. Colleen- I-I mean Mrs. Holt. Hello Mrs. Holt.” Shiro said, clearing his throat after. Colleen smiled happily at the boy.

“Hello, Shiro.” Colleen laughed out before pressing some buttons on the tablet.

“Shiro,” Pidge said, walking over to him. “What’re you doing here?” She smiled, grabbing her hands behind her back and swaying on her feet.

“Well, I was just wondering if you wanted to go on a walk?”

“Uh.” Pidge looked towards her mom. “I can't. My mom decided that even though I'm 19 she can still ground me.”

“WELL, MY DAUGHTER THINKS THAT SNEAKING OUT AND DEFENDING THE UNIVERSE IS AN ACCEPTABLE ACTIVITY FOR 15-YEAR-OLD!”

“NEVERMIND ME SAVING DAD AND MATT!” Colleen shook her head.

“You can go on your walk but I want you back here in 20 minutes!”

“Ugh. Fine. I'm not a kid anymore. I'm 19.”

“You live under my roof young lady!”

“We live in a giant robot right now!”

“Don't take that tone with me!” Pidge grabbed Shiro's hand pulling him out of the ship.

“What's that? I couldn't hear you. Already out the door!” Shiro laughed a bit as the two stood right outside the doorway. The two looked down at their hands to see them still intertwined. Pidge quickly pulled away from his hand. “Uh sorry.”

“No no! It's okay.” Shiro said.

“There was one time on the ship that Matt had to wait so long for your dad to get out of the bathroom that he peed in a can!”

“Oh no!” Pidge laughed out.

“Yeah it was terrifying,” Shiro said.

“Well one time Matt invited some guy or girl over or whatever and he had these like posters in his room he was embarrassed about and they tried to get into his room and to stop them he pressed the lock but the lock on his room is broken! Long story short he got locked in his room and had to get out through the window!” It was Shiro's turn to laugh now.

“Oh god. He's ridiculous.” Pidge stopped Shiro. “Katie I-”

“Shiro I-’

“Oh oh sorry. You can go.”

“Shiro. Since you invited me to walk and-and since we're alone I have something to tell you-”

“Captain Shirogane!” Curtis yelled, running up to the two. “Oh sorry was I-” Shiro sighed.

“No it's fine. What happened? Sorry Katie I have to-” Curtis raised his eyebrow at the man. “I mean Pidge! I'm sorry. I'm just gonna-” Shiro walked away with Curtis, Curtis showing him something on his tablet. Pidge watched the two walk away. She watched as he rounded the corner.

“Shiro...I like you.”

“So…” Nadia said as the group of girls walked through the ‘mall’. “You and Shiro? What’s going on there?”

“W-What?! I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Oh come on. We’re not blind.” Nadia said.

“Agreed. I have seen certain romantically coded interactions between you two.” Ina said.

“What does that even mean?” Pidge asked.

“It means she agrees!” Nadia said laughed out.

“I have to admit-” Allura started.

“Oh not you too Allura!” Pidge said.

“Oh come on! You get flustered whenever you talk about him!” Pidge shook her head.

“There’s nothing going on with us. I promise.”

“But do you want something to be going on with you two?” Romelle asked, putting her hand on the girl’s arm and smiling.

“Do you need help from the Atlas?” Veronica asked.

“No assistance required. Lance will figure it out.”

“Right, Lance, the navigation genius.” Veronica said sarcastically.\

“Affirmative.” The group heard.

“How long have they been delayed?” Shiro asked, visibly worried.

“They should have arrived when we did.”

“This doesn’t feel right.” Shiro said. “Curtis can you track-”

“Already on it.” Curtis replied, tying away at his keyboard. “It looks like their frequency has been dinging off of some sort of decoy.” The desperate cries of the paladins were heard as every call came through.

“We need all hands on deck!” Shiro yelled out. He looked down at his control panel. “Let them be safe. Please.”

“I found the lions. They’re this way!” Pidge said, running towards the lion with the tracker in her hands. She was breathing heavily and as she ran she fell.

“Pidge! Are you okay?!” Hunk asked.

“I-I’ll be fine.” The sound of an engine was heard from above them. “The atlas! We have to get to the-” And with that the small girl fell, Hunk catching her mid-fall.

“Pidge!”

Pidge was laying in a hospital bed in the infirmary of the Atlas, Shiro sitting by her bedside.

“Katie…I-I’m so sorry. I should have known. I was scared. I was so worried…. I still am. Katie I-” The boy ran his fingers through his hair. “I was so scared you were hurt and I was even more scared that you were-...that you were-” He couldn’t bring himself to say it, to say his biggest fear out loud. “Katie...I know I’ve never told you and that’s kind of late now and it’s stupid that I’m trying to practice this speech while you’re laying there unconscious but...I god I just have this ridiculous crush on you.” He stood from his chair. “What is wrong with me? I should be focused on my job. I’m should be helping people! And I’m sitting here, trying to work up the nerve to tell you I have a crush on you. It feels like I’m in high school all over again. It’s so stupid.” He sat down. “Please wake up Katie. I want you to be here with me, okay and safe. I wish I was there to protect you. Please just wake up.”

“Shiro…?”

“Katie!” Shiro yelled. She smiled as he hugged her.

“Takashi...I heard you.” She said, looking away from him.

“O-Oh. I- that was just- it was uh-” She laughed.

“It’s okay. I...feel the same way.” She smiled.

“Katie…” He reached out to grab her hand.

“She’s awake!” It was Hunk who had come back from helping with something Coran needed him for. “Pidge!” He ran up to her and engulfed her in a huge hug. “Oh god, I was so worried.” Pidge laughed weakly.

“Thanks for the help Hunk.” Hunk’s eyes went to their hands intertwined.

“Oh. Oh! OH! No, I was interrupting something wasn’t I?!” They quickly let go of each other.

“No no no no no. Hunk! Please don’t tell anyone!” Pidge said.

“Of course I won’t! You’re my best friend Pidge.”

“Thank you.”
