The Big Party Charity Festival 3rd Sept
Musicians band together to help the homeless
Over 20 bands and Solo performers are gathering together in Meldreth Cambridge UK to help the Homeless. Surviving homelessness particularly during the winter is really difficult and it is a grim prospect for anyone facing time on the streets. The Musicians against Homelessness project was conceived by local woman Emma Rule who launched the idea on Facebook. This soon got the attention of Alan McGee ex Oasis Manager who agreed to become Patron Alan, who also spent time on the streets when he moved to London, said “it was hard for me but it was summer I am not sure I would have survived if it been winter”. All the monies raised will be donated to Crisis via Musicians Against Homelessness to help the homeless. The Musicians are all performing at the Big Party Festival at the Eternit Sports and Social Club on Sept 3rd doors open from 12.45pm and the show goes on till late. Local Organiser Richard Trueman who is Cambridge / Herts Regional Manager for the Musicians Against Homelessness month long Campaign said “We have a great line up of bands and solo performers covering almost every genre of music you can imagine. A lot of the performers are up and coming Artists who I am sure you will be hearing lots more from in the charts and on radio in the future.” It’s fantastic that so many have come forward to offer their time and talent to this very worthy cause, I have to thank them very much. I hope everybody turns out to support them and this great charitable enterprise. There is so much going on during the day we have something for every one of every age group as well as the music we have a variety of craft stalls with a craft work shop where people can learn how to get into crafting, Bouncy Castle and Fun Rides and Stalls for the kids, A wonderful demonstration of Capoella the Brazilian Martial arts performed to Samba music and for the adventurous a workshop to follow, and for the daring the chance to try out a Zorb Ball. A fantastic BBQ and all day bar is on offer during the day. We are also delighted that Mr Belbin and his students from Melbourn Village College have agreed to perform with their Big Band and Solo Singers performing some well known covers. We are also providing an open mike for any musician who fancies coming along and playing a number. Tickets are available from Shops displaying our Poster. Also Melbourn Hub Premier Stores Melbourn, Melbourn Village College, White Horse Foxton, Melbourn Co-op, No2 in Royston, and more to come Box office sales 01763 220402.
