Can we talk about Thomas Perry?
I just watched DPS for the first time ever aaaaaandā¦
Like honestly, whatās the deal with this man. As a father, clearly you would want the best for your son. I can understand the concept of setting your son up for success and not wanting them to fail, or even being invasive into their personal lives for the greater good. But, this man was on another level.
1. Neil was already on his pathway to success with or without his dad breathing down his neck. He was getting top grades and was the best in his set. He even participated in extra curricular activities, what more could Thomas ask for from a teenage boy? Why was it so difficult for this man to grasp the idea of a hobby???
2. He already made him drop the school newspaper in the name of āheās taking too many unitsāā¦it wasnāt even affecting his grades. What was the harm in allowing Neil to do his play? itās not like the grades were slipping or he had been skipping class. What was such a big deal about him making extra time out of no time to do something he loves? Plus, even after the play, why did he feel the need to pull him out of school, like the deed was already done. He was just being petty at this point.
It also defeated the purpose of wanting the best for his son, because he literally pulled him out of one of top schools for āmilitary schoolā?? what??
3. If Neil took up acting as an occasionally thing, he was very unlikely to drop out of HIGH SCHOOL. The stakes were too high for him to leave. Thomas had nothing to lose and absolutely everything to gain, if Neil became a successful actor. Heād be making tons of $$ and would really put the family name/legacy out there.
i just canāt grasp how an issue so minute and insignificant could be blown out of proportion, when there was barely and issue to begin with in the first place. I feel like there was a deeper meaning to all Thomasās reasonings and decisionā¦who hurt you Thomas-
like seriously Thomas Perry, was it worth it? The legacy and reputation youāre fighting for, howās it going now? itās giving very muchā¦
imagine making your son kill himself over a fucking play i- and the audacity to blame it on a school teacherš
