hihi I know this was like 6 months ago but your post about how people read into Karin is spot on. Though I don’t think it’s necessarily misogyny I think tbh it’s more so people literally having no idea what her backstory is so they just kinda assume that she’s just a exploitationist or even worse a vouyer which frankly grosses me out. There’s a small part of me that wants to say it’s partially because some fans are just larpers who barely interact with the game outside of animations and stuff but I kinda wanna give people a fairer shake.
you’re so right honestly a lot of fans of the games haven’t even really played them, so they’re just seeing it on a surface level and then it becomes a cyclical thing of “oh this person says Karin is exploitative so I agree based on what they told me”. It’s really interesting to me because as soon as I heard about fear and hunger I played it, and tried to finish the first game before playing termina, which didn’t happen but oh well. Still to complete a fear and hunger run which is #embarrassing for me but at least I have a combined 100s of hours on both games
