what we know so far about the phantom tomorrow:
it is NOT a continuation of the story of the wild ones nor is it related at all; this is an entirely new story with totally new characters
instead, it’s a concept album set in an orwellian-raquel world in which lying or being perceived as a liar is the cardinal sin
from andy: “within the story there’s a group of people who have been branded as disreputable in society, who build their own counterculture. their design of dress, faith and religious beliefs are centred around the idea that they believe themselves to be innately good, but they have been cast out. they are the phantom tomorrow, who believe that there’s something coming, a way to get out of this, but they don’t know what it is yet.”
the central character is the blackbird—most likely portrayed by andy a la wretched and divine’s the prophet—whom andy said is heavily influenced by his affinity for vigilante heroes (think batman or the crow)
as is standard for black veil, there is heavy religious iconography throughout, particularly with the blackbird, who is described as both a mythical christlike “belief system” for those in the counterculture as well as a legitimate vigilante hero
“scarlet cross”, the single that comes out on friday (nov. 13th), is described as “a bombastic rock anthem with a danny elfman-esque orchestral intro”
the full album will be released in 2021, though andy has said they plan to release a good chunk of material prior to the album’s release
andy hand-stitched the costumes for each of the band members / characters
andy has expressed a desire to create a comic book and/or a legion of the black-style film for this story. given some of the things he’s alluded to in recent episodes of the andy show it’s possible they’ve done something pertaining to the movie, though this is just speculation
