as much fun as not havwing to vwork for a vweek is, molting is NOTÂ
You shake your head violently as he turns around, clinging tighter to him and making it quite clear you aren't going to let him leave without you. If he puts you down, you’ll just follow him again, no matter how tired you are.
You’re sick and tired of being alone, and taking matters into your own little hands to fix it.Â
"Eri, please... You can't come out to the city. It's a sick and tvwisted vworld, and I don't vwant you to havwe to go through that. It's vwhy vwe livwe out here. I'm sorry you're lonely, but it'll get better I svwear, okay? I'vwe, uh. I'vwe been thinking of joining the imperial army. I'll be gone for a fewv svweeps, but if- no, vwhen I make it back the bonus vwill be enough to support us for a long time. I could get a part time job, and vwe could spend as much time together as vwe vwant, yeah?"
You haven't stopped walking back to the house. You need him home, and you need this job as well. At least until you apply.Â
You take the cup gratefully, eyes never leaving your brother’s face, and sip at it, careful not to spill any despite your awkward position.
"But…you wwere….gone for so long…"
You still can’t quite believe he’s here; you’re half convinced you’re just dreaming again, but everything feels so much more real than in your dreams…
You sit beside him and look down at him, a small smile on your face. He looks so small and fragile, and it makes your heart hurt.Â
"Yeah, I knowv. I'm sorry for that too. I kinda vwanted to come on your 18th birthday and make it like a surprise birthday present, but there vwas a hold-up in sector 56-Z passagevway through the FTA belt so I had to take the long route to the Triana, so I missed it by like a month."
You shrug a bit sheepishly, and pull out the apple. You're sad to see it got a bit bruised in all the commotion, but you hand it to him anyways.Â
"Here, you probably need a bit of nourishment in you."

shh, i dont need your sass kid, okay.
You wrap your arms around his neck automatically as he picks you up, snuggling a little closer without saying so much as a word. Even in response to his question, you just shrug a little.
That’s not terribly unusual for you, though. Being left alone most of the time when you were growing up, you’d never discovered much of a use for speech, and you often have to be prompted into using it when your brother does come home.
You frown, unsure what to do. He can't walk back home like this, there's no way he could make it, but you have to go to work... You could walk him part of the way back, then turn around to run back to work so you're not late...Â
Yeah. You think you'll do that. You turn around, still holding him in your arms, and begin to walk back to the house, picking up the pace so that you'll get there faster.Â
"I'll leave you closer to the house, and you have to walk the rest of the way back, okay?" you tell him
vvioletvvalet:
You don’t dare open your eyes until he’s setting you down, your teeth gritted against the pain in your back but otherwise hiding it well. That, if nothing else, convinces you that this can’t be a dream. You’ve never felt pain so sharp and clear while asleep.
You’re more than a little confused by the fact that he’s laughing, that he seems entirely unconcerned, and you look up at him with wide eyes, shifting to lay on your side so you weren’t putting more painful pressure on your back. That means you have to tilt your neck at a somewhat painful angle to look up at him, but no matter.
"…wwh…howw…"
You lean in to give him a big fat kiss on the cheek, grinning wide at him. "I told you I'd come back, and look. Here I am!"
You still fail to notice the little ways he shifts as you pull out the water, handing it to him, even though you're the one panting form exertion. "Drink up, you probably need it," you say, beaming at him Â
vwoah, vwhats this???? cronus?? ONLINE??????? vwowv.

tumultuousbinary started following you
i svwear to god youre my 3rd 70th followver.Â
vvioletvvalet
It’s not the first time you’ve followed him. Just the first time you’ve not given up half an hour in, the first time you’re more determined than you are tired. You’re not really old enough to make this kind of a walk, but you’re stubborn and all but desperate.
It used to be okay, that he would be gone every night, because you knew he would come back, and there was plenty in the forest to keep your young mind amused for the long hours of the night. But as you’ve grown older, fear has started to creep in, along with a terrible loneliness that ate at you every night he was away. You know he has to go, that if he doesn’t neither of you will have enough to survive for very long, but it hurts so badly.
And the only thing you can think of to do about it is to follow him. Surely, when you’re strong enough to make the walk, you’ll be strong enough to be with him, to help out?
There has to be something you can do.
By the time he notices you, you’re tired enough to be making mistakes in the lessons of silence you've taught yourself, growing up in the forest. You could sneak up on a deer unnoticed if you chose - but you’re too tired to step properly right now, to do much more than put one foot in front of the other with a halfhearted attempt at being quiet.
Your heart clenches painfully, and you walk back to him, and pick him up, holding him tight to your chest. It hurts, and you feel tears that threaten to fall, but you don't let them. You CAN'T let them.Â
"Hey there, what are you doing here?" you ask him, petting his hair and thumbing his cheek lightly to reassure him.Â
