Semester Summary

Multimedia Application is not only a new area but also a new challenge for me, because I am a business student, I really have no idea about this new field subject and  just feel interested in this subject.

I looked the unit outline and it show than I will be introduced to the basic concepts and techniques relevant to the planning, production and manipulation of digital images using industry-based software. This unit also has an emphasis on visual literacy; therefore students will be introduced to creative strategies and exercises to aid the development of technical and visual communication skills.

Through the whole semester, I have the ability to demonstrate a basic understanding of digital imaging technologies by using the digital imaging software for image manipulation and correction, and demonstrate a basic knowledge of the techniques and strategies that inform the capture, production and output of digital images using industry-based software,and make informed decisions regarding the context and appropriateness of digital imaging as a creative practice .The capture, production and output of digital images using industry-based software so that I can  Develop an understanding of the synergies between media theory and practice.

" A Constructed World" can be a ideal world,a fantasy or surrealistic space (eg; Dali) or a futuristic city. So in this assignment, recap(quick mask, refine edges,masking),adjustment layers basics,masking adjustment layers,and other more adjustment layers can be put into use. Furthermore, clipping adjustments,blend modes,layer organisation also are very useful techniques. 

"The New You" is was use the portrait taken in class, and it can be It may be a dadaist style portrait, a seamless hyper realistic portrait,a radical transformation or a retro version of myself. In this work,I use camera raw and image formats ,recap(smart objects, filters and transforms),retouching(liquify and puppet wrap) and refocusing, furthermore, I specially work on proofing and colour spaces.

"Movie Poster" aims to build visual literacy and technical competencies via the production of a digital image constructed in Photoshop CS5.5. I choose to work on a science fiction. it includes at title, main cast and production credits and three pictures. As I need to consider constructing a text, the font, the colours and framing my pictures. So I use smart object ,filters and transforms first,and then use recap-blend modes,type, layer styles(FX),gradients and fills these professional techniques.

As China Towner is the CBD of the Melbourne, so it is a city never sleep.

Choice, choice and more choice is the main reason to eat in Chinatown. Chinatown, as to be expected, is full of great eateries that offer fantastic selections of traditional and contemporary Asian dishes; all within a stone’s throw of each other. But once you’ve decided on visiting Chinatown, there are also choices within choices - does Cantonese or the spiciness of Szechuan take your fancy? How healthy is your wallet, and do you want a joint that’s jumping or something more sedate? Is Yum Cha the answer? And, with the many fantastic choices available in Chinatown it’s not hard to avoid the not so great choices, such as shark fin soup. Shark stocks are dropping dramatically, so eating soup made from their fins is actively discouraged – try a hot pot instead! The clustering of Chinese eateries within Chinatown makes it an obvious magnet for hungry visitors and city dwellers alike. Quick, delicious and economical meals for lunch or before a night on the town, or the enjoyment of something more lingering, that is the night on the town, Chinatown offers the lot. The area also has its own unique buzz, and throughout the year there are many traditional festivals and activities that pulse with energy and fun. Sure, parking can be difficult and expensive, but taxis and public transport are in abundance and more practical anyway, especially if you plan on drinking. So really there are not too many cons to eating in Chinatown, unless making a choice is a problem?

In order to relax and have a good situation to final exam, my friends and I decide to go to Luna Park to have a free-day. Without assignments, group meetings, and exams.

Melbourne’s Luna Park is a galaxy of amusements and sensations. From the jaw dropping, eye ball popping super thrill rides like the Pharaoh’s Curse, Metropolis and the Enterprise, to the exhilarating rides like the Spider, Twin Dragon, G force and Shock Drop, you’re bound to have an awesome time!

Luna Park has excited and delighted Melbourne families for generations. There are plenty of rides that the family can enjoy, such as Arabian Merry, Silly Serpent, Scenic Railway, Carousel and Red Baron. Attractions such as Street Legal Grand Prix style Dodgems enable you to test your skills and compete against your friends and family. the cost was a bit steep and the rides well there wasn’t a lot unless you like rollercoasters and for the pot luck games there wasn’t much either.

The tickets were very expensive if you bought individual tickets (the day pass was quite good value for money - I think it was about $40).

Unfortunately we went when there was some boy band appearing at the park so there were an unbelievable number of teenage girls there - but otherwise, the line lengths are very reasonable.

The big roller coaster has some great views of Port Phillip Bay - but be careful, the track is unbelievably rough and I got some massive bruises on my knees and the tops of my legs.

Otherwise, a great day out and and attraction I would definately recommend.

Although Duanwu festival is the end of next month, i can buy in Box Hill, it has different favor and different size than what i eat in my hometown.

Duanwu Festival, also known as Dragon Boat Festival and the Double Fifth, is a traditional and statutory holiday originating in China and associated with a number of East Asia and Southeast Asia societies. In Mandarin, it is known by the name Duan Wu Jie in Hong Kong and Macau, by the Cantonese name Tuen Ng Festival; in Hokkien speaking areas, by the names 五日節. In 2008, it was recognised as a public holiday in mainland Chinafor the first time since the 1940s. The festival has also long been celebrated in Taiwan,Singapore, and Malaysia. Equivalent and related festivals in Asia include the Kodomo no ho in Japan, Dano in Korea and Vietnam.

The festival occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar on which the chinese caledar is based. This is the source of the alternative name of Double Fifth.In 2011, this fell on June 6. The focus of the celebrations includes eating the rice dumpling zongzo ,drinking realgar wine xionghuangjiu , and racing dragon boats.

Like all other traditional festivals, Duanwu is reckoned in accordance with the linar calendar consisting of 29 or 30 days. For this reason, Duanwu—the fifth day of the fifth moon, or double fifth—drifts from year to year on the Gregorian (solar) calendar.

I am really like to eat macaron, and the first time i eat i was in La Belle Mitte,in Richmond. I am the loyalty customer,and yesterday i go there again.

La Belle Miette has perfected the mini burger of the 21st-century bourgeoisie - In terms of appearance - La Belle Miette is unparalleled, in Melbourne at least, for the consistency of each and every of its irresistibles. Shells are smooth, never cracked and do not hide airpockets nor empty shells. The feet (the hem of the shell) are moderately-high, not overly-frilly, never protrude and are always present. The shape is desirably and voluptously round, rather than flat. It's sweet symmetry at every angle. In terms of taste - Most of La Belle Miette's macarons are very flavoursome, a flavour explosion in one's mouth. There are many stand-outs: Earl Grey, Raspberry, Pomegranate Pimms, Caramel a La Fleur de Sel. Equally good, the perfume-inspired macarons are simply ethereal (Violet Blueberry, Cherry Blossom, Rose). A few (the Olive Oil, Ginger and Cherry Blossom macarons) however, are more delicate and require far more sensitive tastebuds. Cacao's macarons are probably more consistently flavoursome. Nonetheless, none of La Belle Miette's macarons are insipidly-flavoured, all-sugar mediocre messes commonly found elsewhere. The ganache filling of each macaron is just-right. In terms of texture - The proprietors of La Belle Miette state that "premium grade almonds are dried, ground, sifted; then reground and resifted with sugar until a fine, powder-like tant pour tant (half-almond, half-sugar) is achieved." It's patissier's speak for as close to textural and compositional perfection as one will ever find, a consistent trait from this and past samplings - a melt-in-the-mouth balance of crisp, spring, air and slight chewyness. Never crunchy, never soggy, never sticky. With regards to maturation -  "Maturation" (ie allowing to stand for a day or so, or refrigerate for a few hours) is not necessary. La Belle Miette's macarons may be eaten on the day of purchase.

I took this photo because i want to show Melbourne's street fashion to my friends an d make more and more people like it.

It is so true how much we take for granted in our home city. One of the beautiful aspects of Melbourne is its quaint alleyways, within the perfectly planned grid. If you take a walk through the narrow pathways into the heart of the city you will be transported into another world.

Instead of finding tradesmen and merchants delivering and receiving goods, you will find cafés, quirky sorts and enchanting art and culture.

It was with intrigue and curiosity that Dave and I decided to explore some of Melbourne’s alleys.

Our first stop was Caledonian Lane. Only four metres wide, it is awash with vibrant evolving street art. At one time it was a lane which reflected the past characterised by Lonsdale House. The art deco building originally owned by Sidney Myer was recently demolished by developers. The lane also played host to the infamous St Jeromes Laneway Festival.

We then passed through Bourke Street Mall, often a favourite haunt for street performers, it is also home to the Public Purse. Located at the corner of Bourke and Elizabeth, the Public Purse is a red granite sculpture created by Simon Perry as street seating, commissioned for the council’s Percent for Art Program.

I am always late then other people, last night i went to the cinema to see The Avengers.

Melbourne Central is a famous place to visit.

Queen Victoria Market is Melbourne city, the history of the oldest flea market(stall market). There are more than 1,000 booths, respectively, sales of fruits and vegetables, seafood, meat, clothing, toys, hardware and Australia, a local specialty. Stall more than the Eastern European and Asian immigrants, differentaccent cries, in a variety of goods, low prices and promotions a week attractedmore than 150,000 local and overseas guests come here to purchase and tour to visit, become Melbourne one of the well-known tourist attractions.       Queen Victoria Market is one of Australia's oldest commodity market, March 20, 1878 officially open for business after 130 years of years of changes, still maintains the traditional style. Located around the market, rows of buildings ofthe era of Queen Victoria, is now planning to become a heritage conservationcategory shall not be removed.       The crowd to come to Queen Victoria market purchases, housewives,students, civilians, millionaires, some Members have a level of distinction here,we are integrated in the traditional cultural atmosphere. Melbourne sightseeing, be sure to stroll around the Queen Victoria Market.

Walking in the Melbourne city center, old and new buildings staggered, hasenough personality style; shines nowhere near and got into the alley - the thegraffiti overwhelming variety of different styles to each theme, the spice in every corner of the alley ! Which walk, people such as exposure to a large open-air art gallery, fantastic.

Melbourne's graffiti culture, from a local graffiti Andrew Mcdonale, when heopened in Hoiser Lane, an attic studio, and sometimes feeling really ambitious,they first test sings "crow" in the alley, did not expect to actually attracted a huge response to emulate the congregation, all the streets are subject to different levels of graffiti baptism. Today, Hoiser Lane has been Bong for local graffitiTemple, myriad of colorful graffiti, there have been many international masterswrote, has become a major tourist attraction in Melbourne, was also selected as the "Lonely Planet Australian cultural attractions preferred ! In my next assignment, which is movie poster, i plan to apply element of science fiction films, and this idea comes from these five science fiction movie. I am not interested in science fiction movie, honest speaking, i just saw these five movies about science fiction movie. Although i am not the fan of this kind of this movie, but i really appreciate the scene and stunt inside.

As science fiction movie,extraterrestrial is a key point, i like the e.t. from movie E.T., a lovely role, and his friend, who is a human being,Elliot. A lovely and nice relationship between human being and e.t. The key factor two, which is UFO, i will use its original and classic one.

About the  imagery and  colours, earth, sky and universe is indispensable. From most of the science fiction movies, grey , black, blue and other dark colour is the typical factor. Furthermore, messy buildings and background，irregular objects all can put into the poster.

I took this picture in a Japanese restaurant in Camberwell last night, and i also suggest this restaurant to u, the name is Darumo, it is a small shop and just near Sofia.

i use SLR camera to take this photo, that is also why i like to use SLR camera to take photo. Obviously, from the picture, i want to show the rice and beef in the bowl. Though there are many things on the table, i still can focus on the object which i want to show clearly,   this is focus and soft focus function in SLR camera, and only SLR camera. 

Further more, i use the special function which is paticular for food. From the picture, we can see that the whole object is high light perception and the colour also very bright so that make people feel appetite.

A lot of restaurant use food function of SLR camera to take food photos in order to attract customers. For the runners, SLR camera is a amazing tool to take attractive photo.

 Not only the catering industry, garment industry also like to use it to take photos.

This is a fun task for me to change the object as my friends, and i am very interested in formatting it ,because i think it is a fun and easy work to do.However, it is more difficult than i think.

The most difficult part is the different colour of people's skin, obviously, for myself, face skin colour is more light than body skin colour. I try to use quick mask to change the whole picture colour and make it's colour close to original object's skin colour, but i failed it, because even hair colour also be changed.

This photo was taken on 11 o'clock in the evening, a fast moment. I found this view when i close the window, so i caught it immediately. 

I choose this photo because of the light inside of this photo, and as i stand on the 26th floor of the apartment, i can catch the whole view of Southerncross's evening which with bright light.

I am very enjoy this bright light because of the soft yellow light instead of the sunshine. They are two different feelings, for example, sunshine will make people feel very powerful and full of energy,and like people who already to accept a very difficult challenge,but this kind of soft yellow light which exist in the photo will make people feel quiet and relax,escape from the busy day and unlimited pressure.

The most important is the structure of the lights, different position make different feelings for people. If people stands under the lights, he or she will feel a little of messy and very normal. If people stands in a high position, like me, i can caught the highest point of this light area and those lights make me feel like  a lot of mini bright light point which people called neon light.

All in all, the position is the key element for a photo.

These two photos were taken om 7pm-8pm, a truth photo to reflect Melbourne's late summer.

As i live on the 26th floor of the apartment, i like to enjoy the view of the high position. For example, in the first photo, obviously, 26th floor is a good position to enjoy the sun set. I caught the whole process from a sunny day to a cloudy day which is shown in the sceond photo and this phenomenon also show the magic weather in the Melbourne.

The first feeling of this change between two kind of weather is cool, like transfer from a hot summer afternoon to a cool autumn afternoon , from hot to cold. And then i felt that time flies so fast, it just need a very short time to make it from day to nite, from a busy work time to a relax family-time. Although , i still prefer stay in the first picture, because i can continue to do a lot of things which were didnt finish during the daytime and i can go many places in the daytime because there are few shops are openning in the evening. Finally, the most important point is i am a young people, the sun or the daytime represents our young people.
