This black mother is sitting on the train with her daughter and this man literally puts his backpack in the seat that her daughter is sitting in. He literally asks her to scoot over.

Steam literally came out my ears. I walk up to the mother and ask if her child is ok and have enough room to sit down while I stare this man down. That is a child, a human being the fuck you putting your backpack in a seat. You are a able body man that can either hold you backpack or place it on the ground. A Latina woman thanks me for speaking up and is appalled as well. He hears us talking loudly about it and moves.

White gender roles are not the same as gender roles for poc.

Do you support men wearing weave and women going natural?

Do you support men wearing religious garments and women of non Christian faiths wearing western clothes?

Do you support dark skinned women escaping the oppression of their male counterparts, men who consider women objective symbols of success, men who treat light skinned women as signs of high status and an escape from racism?

Do you understand that beauty standards for women are often determined by white men and women, and therefore exclude women of color, especially black women with ethnic features?

Do you support dark skinned LGBT people and the specific struggles they face that ?

Do you understand the fetishism of Asian women perpetuated by non Asian men that leads to rampant sex trafficking and rape in Asia?

Do you care about the issues that affect women of color in particular, or is your feminism just about the issues white women face?

What it means to be intersectional isnt just to care about women of color when they’re affected by the same issues that you as a white woman face. It means prioritizing women of color, whose experiences of sexism may not apply to you at all. It means putting black women first, as their experiences are vastly different than yours in terms of oppression.

That’s why we need black feminism.

I used to get so upset when people ripped off exactly what I was doing. I didn’t understand why it was groundbreaking on others, but people would straight up ignore me.

Then I realized that I’m here to plant seeds and kick over shit. Now that I’m older I feel like if I can start a wave or trend, how many of them can I start in my life time?
