he was a little ashamed to admit that he had spent way too much time getting ready.
he had dressed up in a freshly pressed button up and some nice black pants. he wanted to look good. dabin was going to be there after all. he was a little nervous to be wearing white at a feast but white looks good on him. he felt like he looked a little more toned than normal in the outfit.
(maybe he was hyping himself up so he didn’t chicken out and avoid her the entire night.)
he was incredibly careful upon arrival. he brought kimchi jjigae that he had made himself. it’s a recipe that his grandmother learned from her grandmother. all the sons knew this recipe and it was daehyun’s comfort food whenever he was feeling a bit sick. he knew it would be a hit at the feast and he was really careful not to let the pot get any close to his body. he was not going to stain this white shirt so soon into the feast.
once the pot was safely placed on the table, he hung his coat up. now to look cool and casual. he figured he’d scope out the place first. maybe even get a plate of food while he finds the optimal place to sit. he wanted to look good. the winter star feast will be the moment for him and dabin.
nothing can ruin this moment.
she was thankful that the weather hadn’t decided to turn into an insufferable winter from day to night. the feast of the winter star always happened as soon as the season started, after all, and there were those years that got worse than one could hope for.
youngae manages to wear one of her preferred jean skirts while the most important piece sits on her shoulders. she calls it her special winter coat and started to wear it since the year she got it. this time she doesn’t go with anything too heavy underneath, trusting that this should be enough to keep her warm (against her mother’s warning words).
once her own dish is placed on its assigned table—a cheesecake she had made herself—the girl looks around for any form of entertainment at such an early point of the party. there were still people to arrive, and her siblings had already run off to deal with their own affairs. so she treats herself to some juice to keep her throat clear. it’s grape, of course, to give the kids the chance to pretend they were drinking wine. it was always a running joke between the youngest.
the girl only gets the chance to sip it once. it tastes good, or at least it did. youngae scans around the room in search of the more familiar faces and then starts pacing around. of course, the older townsfolk would be the first to arrive. she takes a few steps forward before turning around, nearly bumping into one of the local grandmas. “oh, i’m sorry!” and with this she takes a step back, turning around again to meet someone else. there’s only time for her lips to form an ‘o’ while her hand turns to one side only slightly more than it should. she’s quick to raise her own elbow, though, and avoid that the drink spills on herself. “oh my goddess!”
she stares at the other’s previously white shirt, and then up to daehyun’s face. “i’m really truly sorry!”
