she could hear jackâs persuading words, and of course she understood where he was coming from, but she couldnât understand why he refused to see her side of it either.  âjack, you know why we canât go. this project is huge for me, too.â isabella countered, arms moving around as she spoke. she hated the way he made it sound like she wasnât supportive of him. of course she was, but there just wasnât any possibility that she would ever leave the city especially now that her career was finally going uphill.  âwould you rather i lie to you instead? you know me better than that.â and it was true, if there was one thing she hated doing, it was lying straight through her teeth.  âi know youâve been working hard for this, but so have i. this could be good for us, too.â the blonde sighed, burying her head in her hands, unable to stand the sight of him moving around so much in front of her.
jack knew she wasnât wrong, knew that they should come to some sort of compromise for the two of them but all he could think about was the fact that she didnât support him enough, believe in him enough, to chase his dreams with her. she could do her job from anywhere, he thought to himself bitterly, and he couldnât. it was taking everything in him not to spit that out, already trying to breathe deeply in an attempt to calm himself. and it wasnât that he didnât want her to succeed too, but why did it have to be at the expense of his success? âi know it is, belle. i know. but iâve been working on this for years, you know how many late nights iâve spent busting my ass to work my way up at the paper,â he pleads with her to understand, hands on his hips. âi donât want you to lie but- just nevermind. whatever. i guess this is it, isnât it? you donât want to compromise and i donât want to either.â
