Summary: “One of the other boys likes you” in this case: Alex loves you while you’re with Dakota.

Alex was quite good at hiding the fact that he was in love with you, and he had to be because you and Dakota had been dating for a few years, and he didn’t want to ruin that. Still, it was upsetting to see you with Dakota instead of him. He had loved you before you and Dakota got together but he just didn’t say anything and before he knew it it was too late. 

You, Tanner, Chelsea, and Alex were playing frisbee while Dakota went to talk about his location. You took a look over at your boyfriend and smiled broadly, when all of a sudden the frisbee flew right past your face, you yelped and ducked in time. You heard everyone laughing and you looked up at them and started to laugh as well. “You do know, you’re staring at him super intensely right?” Tanner asked and you rolled your eyes. “Shut up, I’m not staring like that!” you exclaimed and shoved his shoulder playfully. “Yeah, you are. Right Al?” Tanner asked Alex and you looked over at him with a raised brow. He could feel his stomach sink knowing you would never look at him the way you looked at Dakota. “He’s right, you look like you want to hold him hostage in your basement.” Alex joked. Your jaw fell open and you tried to stop a laugh, you heard Chelsea burst into laughter as well. “You guys suck! I do not look at him like that!” you said and reached down to pick up the frisbee.  

“Whatever you say you creeper,” Alex said after you tossed the frisbee to Chelsea, you looked over at him with wide eyes and jaw once again on the floor. 

Alex turned around to catch the frisbee when you ran over to him and jumped on his back. He let out a surprised yelp and you laughed. “Take it back Al!” you exclaimed as he tried to get you off. “No!” he fired back. “Fine, then I’ll take this from you, and you won’t be getting it back!” you exclaimed as you grabbed the frisbee from his loose grip and you quickly dropped yourself onto the grass before sprinting away.  All you could hear were his footsteps running after you and your laughter in the air. 

You looked behind you to see how close he was and tried to run faster seeing how close they were. “You can’t get it unless you take it back Alex!” you said and made a quick turn, running back to your original spot. He looked at you and smiled widely at how cute you looked with your hair all wispy from the wind and the sweet smile taking its rightful place on your lips. Tanner and Chelsea were waiting for you both with smiles on their faces, before Alex could catch you you tossed the frisbee to Chelsea who then tossed it to Tanner. When Tanner threw it you tried to jump for it before Alex could get to it and you barely managed to grab it before he caught you around the waist. You let out a squeal and tried to get out of his hold. Everyone laughed when he spun you around before setting you down to grab the frisbee from you. 

Alex smiled at the new memory made only seconds ago, he got to hold you and make you laugh like that in his arms just for a second and it was amazing. It made him fall even more in love with you, and it hurt him, even more, knowing that you didn’t feel the same way about him. 

“Going long, going long!” Alex said as he tossed the frisbee after trying to shake his thoughts away. You grinned broadly at him before running to catch it before Tanner could. You caught it and went back to your spot while sticking your tongue out at him. You tossed the frisbee to Chelsea and it almost went past her but she caught it, “Nice catch Chels!” you shouted. She smiled over at you. “Why thank you!” she yelled and you chuckled. The frisbee was being thrown around and whenever you could you’d steal small love-filled glances at your boyfriend. 

“Look at Dakota over there sulking,” Alex said and you turned to look at him. You chuckled, and he smiled at the sound of your laughter that he caused. “He must not like fun,” Tanner added and you let your head lull back as you laughed again. You and Chelsea looked at each other as the boys kept up their teasing. You shook your head with a smile and she laughed. 

“I don’t think he likes fun very much,” Alex said.  “He is a bit somber isn’t he?” you quipped and he chuckled. “I just don’t think he’s a fan of fun,” Tanner said and you smiled while catching the frisbee. 

“Dakota!” Chelsea yelled to her brother and he turned to look at you all. You smiled broadly at him, “Smile for me babe!” you shouted and he did just that. You chuckled, “Jeez, he’s so serious.” Chelsea said and you laughed. “That’s not true, did you see that genuine, not-at-all forced smile he just gave us,” you said jokingly. 

“No, but really, I’m worried,” she said and your smile died down a bit, understanding what she was talking about and you knew you felt the same way. 

“I mean this place is obviously no joke,” she said. You nodded your head in agreement. 

“Yeah, me too, but hey, while we have the chance let’s get a few more laughs in huh? Don’t let it spoil the mood. We can do that when we read the packet.” you said with a small grin. They all looked at you with small smiles as well. “Alright, I guess we should have fun while we can before Mr. not a fan of fun is done sulking under the tree.” Alex said and you laughed loudly, going over to give him a hug, “You see that’s the spirit Al!” you exclaimed as you wrapped your arms around him for a tight hug. He swore every time you came near him his heart would either stop or almost burst out of his chest. This affection from you wasn’t new, it wasn’t new to anyone but still each time he couldn’t help but want more. 

Soon enough Dakota was done and he stood up, “Guys, you ready to get going?” he called. Your head turned at the sound of his voice and you ran over to him. You wrapped your arms around him and he chuckled almost tripping as he caught you. “Hey baby, it’s been a while,” he said and you chuckled. He set you on the floor and you smiled brightly up at him. “It’s been a long while,” you replied.  He placed his hands on your hips as you leaned up to kiss him softly. Your fingers gently ran through his hair and after a few seconds, you pulled away.  He had a small pout on his lips when you did and so you leaned up once more to place one more kiss on his lips. 

Before you could step away he grabbed your waist and spun you around a few times just to hear your laugh and see your smile. “Dakota, what are you doing?” you asked through laughter. He smiled and chuckled before setting you back down. “I wanted to hear my favorite sound and see my favorite sight at the same time. And it was even more perfect than every time before,” he said and you wrapped your arms around his waist while resting your head on his chest. 

Little did you know, that Tanner, Chelsea, and Alex were off to the side still, letting you have your moment with Dakota. Chelsea smiled brightly at two people she loved more than anything being so happy together. She could not have been more excited when you finally told her that you and Dakota had started dating. Alex could barely even glance at you guys, it hurt him to see that what he wanted was what someone else was getting. Your love. 

And that someone just so happen to be one of his best friends, and so he kept his mouth shut. 

He broke out of his trance when Tanner patted his shoulder on his way by. “Let’s go, Al,” he said. Tanner could see how Alex looked at you and it made him sad to know that he was in love with you. He felt so badly for him, having to be around the girl you love, while she’s in love with someone else. You nor Dakota knew about his feelings and so you had no idea that you were hurting him at all. 

Alex followed Tanner into the RV where everyone was already seated. You and Dakota were at the table while Chels occupied the other side. That left Tanner and himself on the couch. 

Your back was to the window and your legs were draped over Dakota’s, his hand was resting on your exposed calf tracing soft comforting patterns on your skin. One of your hands was reached up into his hair letting the strands run through your fingers, gently working the small snags along the way. Dakota bent your knee up so he could place a soft kiss on it before letting it back down again. You smiled brightly at the affection, and everyone could practically feel the love you had for each other radiating off of you both. 

Alex sat across from Chelsea seeing as Tanner thankful sat across from you and Dakota, so Alex wouldn’t have to deal with it head-on.

“I am so freaked out to finish this road trip,” Dakota said and you looked up at him. All of you had your cameras in hand, already rolling as he continued to speak.  “Like, I don’t even want to go into another abandoned building. The only reason I’m doing it at this point is because of that adrenaline rush,” he said and you reached up once again to play with the small wisps of hair at the nape of his neck. It was always a comforting action when he was tense or nervous. You could feel him relax just the smallest bit but continued, seeing as it was a strange self-soothing gesture to you as well. 

“But, I think it’s getting worse like we’re getting more scared,” he explained. He felt the cold ring on your finger against his neck and shivered a bit, and you laughed very softly as to not bring attention to you. 

But Alex heard your laughter and turned to look at you, just to see that sweet smile and love-hazy daze, all directed at Dakota. His heart shrunk and his mind tried its best to rid the sight from him.

“We’re experiencing new levels of fear and different layers of it that we weren’t expecting,” Tanner said. You nodded in agreement. 

“Speaking of things to test our fear capacity, I did pick this location specifically to challenge your fear of stuff that’s bigger than your and larger than you.” Your boyfriend explained his decision-making. You sighed heavily and let your head lull back. “If you can’t tell, I’m just as excited as Tanner is,” you said and looked over at Tanner. “I’m already sweating,” he said and wiped the sweat from his forehead. You chuckled. “This oughta be fun!” you exclaimed, and they all chuckled softly. “It sure will be,” Dakota said and turned to look at you with a Cheshire-grin. “But yeah, you’re screwed,” Dakota told him. You smacked upside the head lightly and he chuckled. “What? It’s true,” he said and you sighed. 

Your eyes were heavy and your mind was exhausted. You were so drained mentally and physically from this trip and you could tell it was taking its toll. You were about to fall asleep right there but alas that did not happen. 

“Right now we are actually about to pass through the city of Buffalo, New York. which is a city that houses one of the scariest locations we’ve ever been to. The Statler Hotel.” Dakota said and your eyes widened. You had a horrible experience there and so it did not bring back any good memories. Alex looked over at you knowing how sensitive of a subject the place was and saw how tense you got. He noticed Dakota slip his arm around you and pull you almost fully onto his lap, holding you as close as possible in order to comfort you. 

Alex couldn’t help but think that he should be the one doing that to you, and he should be holding and kissing you every day and night. You looked over at Alex and saw the concern in his eyes, you smiled softly trying to let him know that you were ok. 

He nodded but absolutely didn’t believe you and so he decided to text you. 

You got an alert on your phone and carefully took it out to check, knowing that you could cut the footage of you on your phone so the audience didn’t see it. 

Al: Are you sure you’re ok?” 

You read his text. You sighed before answering. 

(y/n): Yeah I am, just a bit tired and the memory isn’t great but I’ll calm down. Sorry to worry you.” 

You replied.

He read the text and quickly texted back. 

Alex: ok, well if you ever need me. I’m right here, no matter what.” he hit send and waited for your reply anxiously. 

(y/n): You’re the best friend I could ever ask for Al, I’m here for you too, don’t forget that. Love you,”

You sent your last text. 

He responded before taking a deep breath to try and calm his mind. Knowing that you only considered him as a best friend hurt him. Knowing that you loved him but not in the way he so desperately wanted you to.

Everyone continued the discussion but before you knew it, you were fast asleep curled up to your boyfriend. The group quietly chuckled as they realized why you had stopped speaking. Dakota kissed your head softly as to not wake you and looked at everybody. 

“Guys, it won’t be long until we get where we’re going but I’m gonna let her get some rest in the back. I’ll stay with her. He said and looked at you lovingly. Alex looked away when he imagined that it would be him carrying you to bed when you fell asleep on him, it would be him staying with you, it would be him getting kisses and I love you’s and getting to be vulnerable in every sense. If only he had told you first.

"Sweet Questions"- Alex Schroeder x Reader

Summary: Reader asks a "Sweet Questions"

Alex had known you for about a year now and asked you to be his girlfriend after liking you for about 9 months. You had liked him for about 8 months and when he asked you out you immediately told Dakota who was actually the one to introduce you to him. Dakota was almost just as excited as you were because he knew about both of your feelings. He knew Alex liked you and he knew that you liked Alex.

When Dakota told you that he knew that Alex liked you you looked at him like he was crazy because he didn’t tell you.

“Why didn’t you tell me in the first place Dak?” you asked in bewilderment. “I wanted you guys to find out from each other,” he told you with a smile as he shrugged his shoulders.

“How are you so casual about this?” you rushed out. “I’m just so relieved that it finally happened. I’ve been waiting for months!” he exclaimed. You looked at him with the same bewilderment in your eyes. “So have I!” you retorted. “I can’t believe you knew,” you said and shook your head. “I wanted you to hear it from him,” he told you and placed a hand on your shoulder. “I know Dak, thanks for letting it happen like that. I’d probably have been a nervous wreck if you had told me,” you said and smiled at your best friend. He pulled you into a side hug, “I’m so happy for you,” he said.

“Me too,” you said with a chuckle. He chuckled too and held you a bit tighter.

Being away from him hasn’t been very easy especially since it’s the first time he left while you’re actually dating. He had been gone for about 2 weeks now and you were missing seeing him in person and not through a screen.

Your day had been terrible and the one person you needed was on the other side of the country. It was difficult falling in love with someone who was what felt like worlds away.

He was gone when you needed him, you never realized how strong your feelings were until he was yours and then he was gone.

All you wanted was to hear his voice and have him next to you but the closest you would get to that was a phone call and his shirt.

Tonight was a night when you just needed that sense of reassurance, and you couldn’t wait to hear his voice again. You decided that it was best to text him before calling just in case he was too busy.

You began to text him with hesitance, not wanting to be interrupting something. Before you could send a text your screen lit up with the name of the person you were dying to hear from.

You waited a few seconds prior to answering the call. When you answered the call the first thing you heard was an almost giddy tone of voice.

“Hey, babe, how was your day? I miss you,” he said. You smiled at the sound of his voice.

“Hey, Al, I miss you too. My day was fine, just the usual,” you said accidentally letting your sadness shine through a bit at the end. “Anyway, how was your day? Anything good happen?” you asked with that genuine curiosity that Alex always loved.

He knew that something was wrong by the sound of your voice and it made his brows furrow.

“You don’t seem fine at all, what happened?” he asked, completely ignoring your questions.

The concern in his voice was evident, and you knew for a fact that he wouldn’t let it go if you didn't tell the truth. He cared too much to let it go.

You sighed heavily and tried to keep your emotions under control. “I haven’t had the best day, it- it wasn’t great.” you let the words tumble out of your mouth. “What happened, babe?” he asked softly. “He yelled at me again, they all talk about me… again. I know I messed up but he didn’t have to yell at me in front of everyone,” you explained to him. You knew you were about to cry, you felt your lip tremble and tears collect in your eyes.

“Hey, listen to me. Everything is ok now, I know you’re hurt. It wasn’t fair what they did today, you deserve much better than that even if you did make a mistake. You shouldn’t be treated like that. I’m sorry I can’t be there right now, but I will be soon I promise,” he did his best to comfort you through the phone. Just the sound of his voice was enough to help you calm down. Knowing that he actually cared about your day meant so much to you.

“I’m just glad today is Friday and I won’t have to go back until Monday,” you told him. He could hear the anxiety in your voice, and it made him cringe.

“I’m sure they’ll have forgotten it all by then. You’ll go back and everything will be ok, you’ll be ok,” he said. Just hearing him say that caused you to feel the relief you needed. You didn’t know how much you needed to hear that until he said it.

“I really miss you,” your voice shook as through the phone. “Aw babe, I miss you too. Please don’t cry,” he said as soothingly as he could. He knew he missed you more than he would allow himself to think. He wanted to be back home and with you, he wanted to be there for you right now but he knew he just had to do the best he could through the phone.

“I’m sorry,” you said and tried to get yourself together. “Why would you be sorry? There’s no reason to be,” he said with confusion. “I’m crying, and I’m sorry,” you gave a short explanation. “Don’t be sorry for crying. You can cry all you need to, I’m right here,” he told you and you just let yourself cry. He stayed on the phone with you that night, until you fell asleep. He was there.

Alex was finally going to be home and you couldn’t wait to see him. You had told him to get settled at home for a while before he came over cause you wanted him to take care of himself first.

It was the next day going into the evening when you heard the doorbell ring.

You were already finishing putting together your movie night. You quickly made your way over to the door and opened it with a smile. There stood your boyfriend with a tired but broad smile. You hastily grabbed his hand and pulled him into the house. He let out a chuckle at how excited you were. Once the door closed he tugged you into a hug, “Hey, babe, it’s been so long. I’ve missed you,” you said and let your head rest on his chest. He held you tightly, “I missed you too. I’ve missed this,” he said and kissed your head softly.

You didn’t want to pull away from him but you knew you had to at some point in time. He was the first to let go though it was reluctantly you could tell.

“Should we watch some movies?” he asked gently and laced your fingers together. “Yeah, c’mon,” you said and you once again pulled him along with you.

He sat down on the couch and you sat next to him grabbing one of the blankets and offering it to him. He took the blanket and unfolded it so that you could both be under it. He pulled you closer to him and wrapped his arm around your shoulders so you could lean against him. You looked up at him with bright eyes, and he chuckled at the gleam in your eyes.

“How have you been? How is work?” he asked and moved his hand from your shoulder up to play with your hair. You sighed heavily, “It’s been fine, nothing new. They’ve thankfully forgotten what happened,” you said and smiled softly. “I told you it would all be ok, I knew it would be,” he told you.

You leaned up to kiss his cheek, and he leaned down to reciprocate the action.

“How about you, how was the road trip?” you asked and reached over to grab his hand. He fiddled with rings on your fingers. “It was good honestly, I’m tired but it’s always worth it. Getting the chance to do what I do with my best friends is once in a lifetime. It’s always amazing,” he explained to you and you smiled at how happy he was. “That’s great, I mean it’s amazing. I’m so happy for you,” you said. He leaned down to rest his forehead against yours. You moved your hand from his to place it gently on his cheek. You stayed there for a few moments before separating.

“C’mere,” he said and maneuvered you around so he could place you on his lap. You chuckled at his actions, and he smiled at you. “What’d you do that for?” you asked. “I wanted to be closer,” he said softly. You once again place a hand on his cheek and he looked at you. You brought your face closer to his letting your eye flutter closed. He leaned in the rest of the way and let his lips press against yours. You moved your hand into his hair and he placed one hand on your cheek and the other on your leg. Pulling away you smiled seeing his eyes still closed, “What’d you do that for?” he repeated your earlier question. “I wanted to be closer,” you repeated his earlier answer. He chuckled at the sight of your soft grin.

“Alex,” you said, “Hmm,” he hummed as if telling you to continue. “Would it be alright if we stayed this close forever?” you asked in a gentle voice. He smiled brightly at you and pulled you in for another kiss, “It’s just fine with me,” he said when he pulled away.

"He or you makes the other blush"-Tanner Wiseman x Reader

You walked out of your room and down the hallway into your living room and saw that it was almost time for you to leave. Tanner texted you and told you that they would be there to pick you up in about 15 minutes. You sighed and checked around your house to make sure nothing was forgotten. You saw your journal lying open on your bed and immediately went to grab it, you always took your journal with you on the road trips so you could write about the most memorable things that weren’t caught on camera. You wrote about the small conversations you had with your friends that made you happy.

You smiled at the well-used book and tucked it into your bag gently. You got a ding on your phone and checked it to see that Tanner had texted you. The next second you got a knock on your door and went to go get it. You opened the door and tanner is already smiling down at you. “Hey babe, are you ready?” he asked. You nodded your head and stepped aside to let him in he kissed the top of your head as he walked by you, and the boys followed him in. you chuckled at the chorus of good mornings. “You do know, that I don’t have that much stuff right? I can take my own things to the RV, “We know but we want to so here we are,” Dakota said and smiled at you. You chuckled, “Alright well I guess you can carry something.” you told him. “Too late we got everything, let’s go!” Tanner exclaimed and walked out the door. As Tanner passed by you he leaned down and kissed the top of your head again. You rolled your eyes, “Alright, let’s go then.” you said and ushered the boys out of your home so you could lock the door behind you all.

Tanner walked back over to you and smiled before leaning down to kiss you softly. You wrapped your arms around his neck and his arms wrapped around your waist. He pulled away and you smiled up at him, “I didn’t get to do that earlier,” he said and you chuckled before pulling him back down to place another kiss on his lips.

“Well I appreciate that you did it, now I guess it’s time to go then huh?” you asked with a smile. “Yeah, I guess so, c’mon you can sleep for a while,” he said and you nodded your head with a laugh.

You settled on the couch in the RV and smiled at the boys, “Well, are you guys excited?” you asked.

“Yes, and no,” Alex responded and you giggled but agreed. “Yeah, I think I’m ready. I’m definitely excited to see your reactions to these places, your reactions are the best honestly.” Dakota said with a big smile. You looked at him in mock offense, “My reactions are perfectly normal to these crazy-ass places we go to!” you exclaimed and he chuckled.

“He isn’t wrong babe, your reactions are pretty funny,” your boyfriend agreed. You looked up at him as he sat next to you. “You’re a jerk!” you said and playfully slapped his chest.

Alex shook his head and laughed.

You settled next to Tanner and curled up next to him. “If you wake me up I’m gonna be really pissed.” you pointed at all of them.

They chuckled, “We won’t,” Tanner said and kissed your head before pulling you closer.

You closed your eyes and let yourself fall asleep

You began to feel yourself stir, but stopped yourself from opening your eyes when you heard the boys talking.

“You are head over heels man,” you heard Dakota say. You had to hold back from smiling. “I know,” Tanner didn’t deny what his friend had stated. “You’re lucky ya know, she’s an amazing girl and anyone would be lucky to have her,” Alex said. Your heart swelled the tiniest bit at Alex’s comment. He was always so sweet and that’s one of the reasons he was your best friend.

“I don’t deserve her to be completely honest,” Tanner confessed. Confusion floated through your mind and you had to control your expression.

“Why do you say that?” Dakota asked. “She’s amazing, I mean she’s the only thing that holds me together after some of these places we go to. She makes the world around her brighter, and the people she knows are so positively affected by her. She is so loved and she loves so much.” he said and your heart felt like it melted. You instinctively held him tighter, and they chuckled quietly trying not to wake you up. “She’s gorgeous, and she has no idea,” your boyfriend said and leaned down to kiss your head. You felt your cheeks heat up involuntarily and in your head, you knew that it wouldn’t go unnoticed

“Oh my gosh, dude she’s totally awake, she’s blushing.” Dakota pointed out. You buried your face in your boyfriend’s shoulder trying to hide your face. Tanner chuckled, “Babe, c’mon don’t do that,” he said and kissed your head. “Then don’t look at me,” you whined though it was muffled. The boys chuckled, “Alright, they won’t look, now c’mon let me see you,” he said. The boys looked away trying to hold in their laughter.

He gently turned your face so he could see you, your cheeks were pink and it made him smile. “You’re too cute you know,” he said and kissed your cheek. “Shut up,” you said and slapped his shoulder lightly. You heard the boys fake gagging, and you looked over and saw that they had turned to look at you. You sighed and placed your hands over your face.

“Guys, stop,” you whined. “Shut up, guys you’re embarrassing her,” Tanner stepped in. You could hear that he was trying not to laugh. “Ok no, I’m leaving,” you said and got up from your spot to move to the back of the RV. “No,” Tanner complained as you left his side. “Nope, I’m going,” you said and lied down on the bed in the back. The be dipped and you sighed. “Babe, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to embarrass you,” he said and sat next to you. He played with your hair gently, you sighed “It’s fine, I guess,” you said with a hint of a smile.

“I love when you blush babe, it’s so sweet,” he said and leaned over to kiss your cheek.

“Ugh, Tanner. Stop,” you said and hid your face again. He kissed your hands before pulling them away from your face, “There she is,” he said and leaned down to kiss you. You let yourself smile against his lips. “I love you, babe,” he pulled away and said. “I love you too Tanner,” you said.

You and Tanner had just started dating about a month ago and things were going really well. They had all known you since you were very young and so Chelsea was the one to find out that you had a crush on him. That’s how it all started and that’s how you ended up where you are.

All of you walked through the airport, it was finally the day that you got to go to Ireland. To say you were scared of heights and flying would be an understatement and Tanner knew this. He knew he would have to be there for you and be patient when your anxiety set in.

He had his arm around you as you walked through the crowd keeping you from straying or getting anxious.

“Are you excited babe?” he asked and looked down at you. You nodded your head softly, “Yeah, I just can’t wait to get there,” you said and leaned into him a bit. “I know, but you’ll be ok I promise,” he told you. “Ok,” you softly spoke and cast your gaze to your feet as you walked. “Chin up, just think about how worth it will all be,” he encouraged you. You let a small smile place itself on your lips at the thought of being in Ireland. You’d always wanted to go, and even if was just for these locations you were going and you couldn’t be more grateful for the chance.

You looked around at all of your friends and shook your head in disbelief that you got to do this with them. It all seemed like a big dream to you, finally being with the person you’ve loved for years, and getting to see the world with your best friends. It was your reality and you could hardly believe it.

“You ready Chels?” you asked and looked over at her. “Yes, and no. I’m so ready to be there but I’m also really nervous about the locations,” she explained to you/ “You should be nervous,” Dakota piped up and you turned to look at him. You glared at him and he chuckled. “It’s true,” he defended himself and you rolled your eyes. “You’re crazy Dakota,” you said and shook your head. “You agreed to this, so I’m pretty sure you’re crazy too,” he told you and you chuckled. “I guess so,” you said and leaned your head on Tanner’s shoulder.

It came time to board the plane and so Tanner was slightly nudging you forward. He made sure you knew he was there and it gave you a sense of calm. You sighed heavily as you finally were able to find your seats. You sat down next to your boyfriend, he could feel how nervous you were and it made his heart ache knowing you were scared.

“I know you’re scared right now babe, but everything is going to be ok. I’m next to you the entire way,” he said and quickly moved his mask down so he could place a kiss on your head. You leaned against his shoulder and you wrapped your arm around his. “Thank you,” you said and looked up at him with a grateful gaze. “You never have to thank me for being here for you,” he said and placed a hand on your knee comfortingly.

The flight there was difficult for you, but you tried your best to keep calm. Tanner was there for you just like he said he would be, and his patience with you was something you always appreciated. You ended up falling asleep for a while before landing and he didn’t move despite how uncomfortable and tense he was getting. He knew you needed that rest and so he didn’t dare interrupt your sleep.

He gently shook you awake, “(y/n), hey, it’s time to wake up. We’re landing soon,” he said and you let your sleepy eyes flutter open. You rubbed your eyes and looked at your boyfriend. “Really?” you questioned groggily. He chuckled at how tired you sounded. “Yeah, really. It’s almost over babe,” he said. You sighed in relief that it would be over soon.

He could see some of the tension in your shoulders release and he smiled.

The plane landed and you all began to file off. When you were finally off of the plane and onto solid ground once again you let out a sigh of relief.

“It’s over,” you said to yourself and smiled softly. “You did it, babe,” Tanner said and wrapped his arm around your shoulders for a side hug.

“I did!” you said excitedly. “I’m so proud of you,” he said and you could hear the smile in his voice. “I couldn’t do it without you,” you told him truthfully. “That’s not true, you can do anything I know you can,” he said.

You all got your things and headed out to the RV that was waiting for you outside.

You put your stuff away and took off your mask and so had everyone else. You could see that they were all smiles and it made you smile as well.

Later in the day, Dakota had told you where you were going and you already hated it.

The Hellfire Club is where you were headed and you weren’t too excited. The RV stopped and you looked outside. “Dakota this already sucks. I swear you have the worst ideas sometimes,” you sighed before you all got out. You started on your way across the grass, and as you walked you smiled up at your boyfriend. You then looked around at your friends with the same giddy grin on your face. Your gaze cast down and noticed how close you and Tanner were so your immediate thought was to grab his hand but you didn’t know if you should. You were on the shy side, but that never stopped you from showing affection to your friends and boyfriend. You didn’t know why you were doubting yourself now, but you just were. So, you did the only thing you thought reasonable. You asked.

“Tanner,” you said, and he looked down at you. “Yeah,” he said. He saw your cheeks turn a bit pink and smiled brightly. “What is it babe?” he asked and gently nudged you.

“Can I- um- Can I hold your hand?” you asked softly.

His smile got broader and you looked away. He chuckled, “You don’t have to ask, you know that,” he said.

You turned your eyes back to him and smiled softly, you reached out your hand and grabbed his. You carefully interlaced your fingers with his and he leaned down to kiss your head. “Sorry for asking,” you said quietly. “You don’t have to be sorry, just know that you don’t have to ask,” he said and squeezed your hand in his. “I love you,” you said and he brought your hand up to place a kiss on it. “I love you too,” he said and you smiled at him.

“I know you guys are being cute, but if you’re done we have this creepy place to look around,” Chelsea said with a teasing smile. You rolled your eyes but walked a bit faster and tugged your boyfriend along with you. It was gonna be a long few days but at least you had a hand to hold.

You had gotten home from the last road trip 3 days ago and your mental health had been on a decline. It started about a week ago when a switch just flipped in your brain. That’s what tended to happen to you, you were happy for a period of time and then you got really low for a while. You had been in bed all day and it was beginning to become evening. You decided that you would get up and check on your boyfriend. He had come to check on you during the day and almost every time you cried when he left. You had felt so bad that your depression was coming back and you didn’t have any way to fix it, you couldn’t make it disappear. It was something that always caused massive amounts of guilt to weigh heavy on your shoulders.

You looked at your reflection in the mirror and cringed at your appearance. You looked exhausted and like you’d been crying all day. Which wasn’t the exact truth, but nonetheless you looked terrible. You hated that anyone had to see you this way let alone your boyfriend. You usually hid it very well and didn’t ask for help but there was something about this time that just wouldn’t let you breathe for even a second. You decided it would be best to make yourself look the slightest bit decent and so you brushed your hair and tried your best to cover the dark circles from restless nights and sheer exhaustion. You threw on one of Dakota’s shirts and a pair of your comfiest shorts. You tried to put a smile on your face but each time it fell, you told yourself that it was for him and you finally managed to get your smile to stay.

Grabbing the door handle you slowly turn it and open the door as quietly as possible and walk out of the room into the vacant hallway. Thinking he’d be working on something you were beginning to feel bad that you may be interrupting him. Before you could turn around you heard the TV playing and your brows furrowed. You walked into the living room to find him sitting on the couch watching a movie. Confusion swirled in your mind wondering why he didn’t want to watch in the room with you. You stopped in your tracks and just stood there for a few seconds.

Before he noticed you, you turned around and went back to your room to curl up under the blankets once again. You thought that you were a burden and he didn’t want to be around you, you were scared that you had made him not want to be around you. Your (e/c) eyes were beginning to become glossy at the thought of having driven him away. You had no idea that you were that bad. You didn’t want to make it any worse and so you decided that staying in your room would be the best idea for now.

The guilt was eating away at you and tears fell down your face and onto your pillow.

“Why can’t I get better?” you cried to yourself. Biting your bottom lip that quivered to keep yourself as quiet as possible. The things that popped into your head were making everything worse. You thought about why he would be staying away.

Sure he had checked on you but he must’ve gotten sick of you at some point.

“You’re so pathetic how do you not get it. He’s tired of you, you’ve made him sick of you and he doesn’t even want to be around you anymore,” you thought to yourself.

So much time had passed, you hadn’t realized that it was fully dark in the room beside the moon shining through the window. You finally were able to bring yourself back from the far corner of your mind and saw that the room was completely dark now. You looked to the window to see small rays of light coming from the moon and it made realize how lost you were. You couldn’t even keep track of time and days were flying by without being able to live them.

You looked over to Dakota’s side of the bed just to see that he still wasn’t there with you. It made your heart ache that he hadn’t come to bed yet, he would usually be lying with you by now but the spot was cold and empty. You took a deep breath and turned around to face your nightstand, the small clock read about 11 pm and you squeezed your eyes shut. You wanted to make it disappear and have time go back so you could fix everything. You wanted to go back and try harder to hide your feelings. You weren’t one to ask for much from anyone and so being this vulnerable was a scary thing for you.

You heard footsteps down the hallway and pretended to be asleep. Dakota opened the door and expected to have a light left on like you always did when he came to bed later than normal. It was dark in the room he could only tell that you were there because the moon from the window cast a soft light onto your figure curled under the sheets. You tended to hold your breath when you were in stressful situations or environments and so that’s exactly what you were doing now. He saw you completely still and didn’t even see you breathing and from that, he knew that you weren’t actually asleep.

Walking around to your side of the bed he crouched down by you so he could see your face. He moved one hand up to brush the hair away from your face. “I know you’re awake babe,” he said softly and turned on the light so he could see you better. He saw you cringe at the sudden brightness the room now held. You finally let out the breath you were holding and it came out shakily. He sighed and gently stroked your cheek trying to coax your eyes open. “Please look at me,” he said. You could hear how upset he sounded and it made you want to cry. You were afraid that you made him upset and he wanted to leave. You didn’t want to open your eyes just in case he would disappear.

“Please,” he whispered and placed a kiss on the corner of your lips. You hesitantly let your eyes open just to see him on the floor in front of you. “Are you doing any better?” he asked with a comforting smile as he still stroked your cheek. Before you could stop yourself from saying it, it just slipped past your lips.

“I’m sorry if I made you not want to be with me…” you whispered. His eyes went wide at what you had just said. He got up from his position on the floor and sat next to you. “Why would you ever think something like that?” he begged the question. “I know I’m hard to be around right now, and I made you upset and tired of me. I wish I could fix it but I can’t and I’m so sorry,” your lip quivered once again. He looked at you with sad eyes. “You’re not thinking right, right now. I’m not upset with you or tired of you at all. I love you, and I want to be around you all the time. I just thought you might want some space,” he admitted to you. You looked at him hesitantly.

“I could never be tired of you or upset with you for going through this. I know it’s difficult for you, and I know you usually like to be given space now and again. I thought you may have needed some today. I’m so sorry I didn’t see that you needed me,” he told you in a soft voice.

You raised your hands and wiped at your eyes trying to will the tears to stop. “I know I usually keep it to myself, I’m sorry that I can’t right now. I am so sorry you have to see me like this,” you tried to keep your voice from breaking.

“You don’t have to keep it to yourself. I’m here for you, I want you to be able to be vulnerable with me. Know that I will never be upset with you for being vulnerable, I’ll never judge you and I will never get tired of you. I love you,” he stated in confidence. “I want that for you too ok. I love you so much,” you said and sat up slowly. When you sat up he noticed that you had changed clothes and smiled at the sight of his shirt on you. You saw the smile on his face as he looked at you and your cheeks flushed. “What are you looking at?” you asked with a scratchy voice. “I didn’t notice you had changed into my shirt,” he said and reached up gently to tug on the sleeve. He trailed his hand down your arm to intertwine your fingers.

“It’s my favorite one,” you told him with a soft laugh.

“Well, it’s yours if you want it,” he said and raised your hand to place a kiss on the back of it.

You looked at him shyly, “Can we share it?” you queried bashfully. He furrowed his brow a bit, “yeah sure we can. Do you not want to keep it?” he asked in confusion. Your eyes widened a bit. “No, that’s not it. I just want you to wear it so that when I wear it…” you paused for a second. He looked at you with curiosity. “It’ll still smell like you. If I keep it, it won’t smell like you anymore,” your free hand played with the hem of the shirt nervously. He had the broadest smile on his face at your reasoning.

”Then that’s what we’ll do. We’ll share it,” he said and leaned forward to rest his forehead against yours softly. He slowly leaned in and placed a kiss on your lips. The kiss lasted only seconds but it was enough to make your smile genuine, it was enough to make that guilt and shame disappear even just for a while.

You were with your boyfriend just lying on his bed watching some random show you found. Neither of you were paying much attention to it if you were being honest. You sat criss-cross in front of him just relaying your week to him, you hadn’t seen him in a few days and so he had missed some things. You worked at a school and had just gotten a job as an English teacher. It was your first time being a teacher, and you had been there for about a year now. It was one of the best parts of your life, and Alex was extremely supportive. You actually had to stop going on the road with them because of your job. They all understood and were very happy for you and super proud. They knew how much you loved working with the kids. It was an eighth-grade English class so the kids weren’t too bad. Some needed extra help and you absolutely loved to help them.

You had already made great friends with their science teacher actually. She was a sweetheart, and she really helped you out in the beginning. So you had some things to tell Alex about at the end of the week.

“So there’s this guy at work, he’s a total asshole by the way. His name is Damien and he just makes me want to bang my head against a wall whenever he talks I swear,” you said and rolled your eyes. Alex chuckled. “What did he do?” he asked and reached over to grab your hand. “So, Melissa and I were having lunch, ok. We were talking about the kids and what we were teaching them. I am, as you know, teaching them about poetry and plays and such currently. Well, I was telling Melissa about it, and telling her how excited I was about it because they seem to really be liking it so far.” you explained to your boyfriend. He nodded his head, letting you know he was listening. “Here, this bitch comes over to us. He thinks he’s better than us because he teaches a philosophy class over at the college as well as teaching here too. Can you even believe that?” you asked with a huff. “That’s stupid. How does that make him any better?” Alex asked, almost as upset as you were. “Right! It makes no sense!” you expressed. He nodded eagerly. “What did he do?” he asked, sitting up straighter ready to hear what you had to say.

“So Damien walks over and sits down right next to us, and you know me trying to be polite even though I can’t stand him. I ask how he’s doing, and how his class is. You know I try to include him, cause I’m a nice person, and so is Melissa, of course, backing me up.” you said and took a breath.

“He looks at me with the fakest smile I had ever seen in my entire life. Babe, it was horrible, I wanted to punch him.” Alex let out a laugh, “I would too,” he said.

“Instead of bringing up his class, you know what he talks about? You wanna know what he fucking talks about?” you were getting worked up. Alex takes your face in his hands and places a kiss on your forehead to calm you down a bit. “What does he talk about sweetheart?” he asked and held your hands.

“Apparently this little shit of a person has seen the show somehow and starts talking about me being on it. Ok, which may not sound too bad, but wait. Just wait until you hear what he had to say.

He looked at me directly with that fucking grin, and he says “Yeah, I thought it was pretty silly. I mean you should be old enough to know that those things aren’t real. It was probably all faked anyway,” that is exactly what this fucker had the audacity to say. He had the fucking audacity to say that shit to my face!” you exclaimed in exasperation. Alex looked at you in surprise and you could tell there was a bit of vexation floating in his eyes.

“I didn’t want to go off on him at work. I didn’t want to get in trouble, you know so I had to handle it like a civilized person. I looked at him with a smile ok, a big sweet, kind, and oh so innocent smile.

And I said, “You know, I understand where you’re coming from, we all have our different opinions and beliefs. That’s fine, you have yours and I respect that, but don’t be rude about mine. I’m not telling you that you’re wrong in what you believe I’m just saying that I don’t agree with it and so if you wouldn’t mind respecting my friends and I that would be really kind. If you think we’re faking the things we find then fine you can think that but we know we’re not. Because we were actually there when those things happened to us and they were and are very real. They have left lasting effects on all of us. So please don’t invalidate our experiences. You can think what you think, but you can’t tell us that what we felt and saw and experienced was fake and just lies that we made up. It’s really rude and hurtful. So if you would please, respect me and the people I love, with the respect that I have for your opinions and thoughts and beliefs that would be much appreciated.” that’s exactly what I said to him.” you let out a deep breath you didn’t know you were holding. Alex looked at you with no more frustration and just a look of pride and love. You always stood up for them, and what you believed and you did it in the most respectful yet direct way possible to get your point across.

Alex hadn’t responded and so you looked over at him just to see a big smile on his face. “Why are you looking at me like that?” you blushed a bit under his gaze. “You’re perfect, you’re absolutely perfect,” he said and reached over to grab you and pulled you into his lap. You let out a yelp of surprise at his actions, a bashful pink tint on your face still ever-present.

You turn to look over at him and he chuckles at the blush on your cheeks. He placed a kiss on your heated cheek, “Why are you blushing babe?” he asked and you attempted to look away from him to hide your face. “Why did you say I was perfect?” you asked softly. “Because the way you stand up for the people you love and what you believe in. You don’t disrespect people, you’re just direct. You handle it maturely and that’s one thing I love about you. You’re just perfect,” he said and you blushed even more.”Don’t say that stuff Al,” you tried to make him stop. “Why? I love to tell my beautiful girlfriend how much I appreciate her,” he said and kissed your neck softly. You felt his smile against your neck and rolled your eyes.

“You’re too much Alex, I don’t know how my heart isn’t a puddle yet,” you said softly and he chuckled. “I guess I’ll just have to work on that then huh?” he asked and kissed your neck a few more times before turning your face towards his. He leaned down and pressed a kiss on your lips. Your hand ran up into his hair and his arm wrapped around your waist tightly. When you pulled away he smiled at the soft smile on your lips. “Is it working?” he asked. You chuckled and shook your head. “Not yet, I think you may have to try a bit harder,” you said with flushed cheeks and a bashful gaze.

“Then, I won’t stop until it works,” he kissed you again and smiled against your lips.

“Babe, what’s your favorite thing about me?” Dakota asked as he looked down at you lying on his chest. “Hmm,” you hummed in thought. Your leg was lazily tossed over his waist, he was tracing patterns on your skin as he waited for your answer. You tilted your head up to look at him and moved your hand up to run through his hair.” I would have to say your hair,” you said. He looked down at you with a slightly confused smile and as he was about to speak up your finger had trailed down and traced his lips. “Or maybe-” you paused for a second before sitting up more with your elbow placed by his head to prop you up. “Your lips,” you spoke softly. He looked up at you in awe of your fascination and care. His lips slightly parted as you traced his bottom lip with the tip of your finger. You could feel his breath against your hand and it made you smile. “Maybe it’s the way you breathe,” you whispered and placed your hand on his chest to feel his breathing. You could feel his heartbeat under your palm, “How fast your heart beats when I’m close to you,” you said and leaned down so that your lips were barely brushing his just to see how his heart would speed up.

You then fully placed your lips on his, he tried to deepen the kiss but you gently pulled away with a smile. He looked at you with a soft pout and confusion. You chuckled and placed one more sweet kiss on his lips. Then you placed a kiss on each of his cheeks, his forehead, and his nose before gently nuzzling your nose against his. That made him chuckle and you smiled brightly at him.

“You know, I have lots of favorite things about you, I could go on for days about everything I adore about you,” you said. The low yellow lighting in the room made everything seem perfectly hazy.

You gently maneuvered yourself so that you were lying on top of him. He chuckled at your actions and wrapped his arms around your waist.

“I love the way you hold me, how you make me feel safe. I love that your eyes light up when you see the people you love. I love when you hold my hand. I adore the way that your hands run under my shirt when we kiss. I adore it when you ask me to dance with no music playing. I love your creativity and how you express yourself. I love your family. I love the way you love your family. I love you Dakota.” you said.

He looked down at you in awe as you just list off things you love about him as if it is something you don’t have to think about at all. You looked up at him through your lashes and smiled at him, he lifted his hand to run over your hair as he smiled right back at you. “I love you too (y/n),”

You kissed his chest and settled down, you could hear his heartbeat and again you could feel and hear how fast his heart was beating.

“You know, I could go on for days too,” you heard him say. You let out a giggle and moved off him and to his side again. “No, where are you going?” he asked as you moved to his side. “I wanna face you, I wanna see you,” you said and rested your head next to his. “C’mere,” he said and placed his arm around your waist. You were on your side and so he easily pulled you closer to him.

Letting a giggle slip past your lips you placed a hand on his cheek and a toothy grin placed itself on his features. You ran your thumb delicately under his eye and his eyes fluttered closed, letting his lashes brush your skin softly. You leaned forward carefully and kissed his eyelids lightly. You pulled away and his eyes opened with a glimmer. “You’re the best thing that has ever happened to me,” he said. “I can safely say the same,” you replied. He leaned forward and placed his lips on yours sweetly. He moved his hands from your waist and down to your thigh once again moving it across his waist. He then slipped his hand back up and under your shirt pressing his hand flat against your back to hold you closer to him. You let your hand weave into his hair, gently tugging at the soft strands.

He reluctantly pulled away and let his hand move back to your waist, your hand didn’t move and just continued to play with his hair. You hummed in content, as you just admired him, your eyes tracing his features. “Staring is kind of rude, you know,” he said in a joking tone. His words broke you out of your trance and made you chuckle, “I can’t help it, it’s not my fault that you’re so handsome,” you said with a grin.

He squeezed your waist gently at your comment and leaned forward to nuzzle his nose against yours. You gently moved down the bed so you could tuck yourself against his chest. He chuckled and held you closer, “Dakota,” you spoke softly. “Yeah babe,” he responded.

“I forgot to say one more thing that I love about you,” you said. “Oh, really, and what is that?” he asked and kissed your head.

“I love the first words you ever said to me,” you said and felt your lips curl up into a smile. You heard him sigh heavily, “Oh crap… why?” he asked. “Because they were super sweet and will never not make me smile,” you told him. He moved you back so he could see you. “You better not say it,” he said in a warning tone. “I remember it like it was yesterday. What grade was it?...” you pretended to think hard about it. “Oh yeah, it was 3rd grade, and you walked up to me on the playground,” you began. Dakota leaned in and placed his lips on yours over and over trying to keep you from speaking. You eventually got away from him and placed your fingers over his lips to keep him from kissing you.

“You came up to me on the playground and had the biggest smile on your face. It was the sweetest thing you said, and I quote, “when we grow up will you marry me?” it was the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard. I knew right then that you were going to be mine someday, and when I talked to my mom once I got home, you were the only thing I talked about.” you told him with a big smile on your face.

You took your hand away from his mouth, and he just stared at you. “You talked about me?” he asked softly. “Yeah, I did,” you said and chuckled.

His cheeks heated up and you noticed the red tint on his face and it made your smile bigger. “You’re blushing,” you said and reached out to hold his face. “What, no, no I’m not,” he said and buried his face in the pillow. “Baby, no, please don’t hide from me,” you tried to make him look at you. “C’mon, babe, I won’t mention it I promise,” you said. You heard him sigh before he turned to look at you.

“You’re so sweet babe,” you said and leaned forward to kiss him. He kissed you back softly, you placed your hand on his cheek. You smiled at the heat against your hand, and accidentally let a giggle slip. He pulled away from you in confusion, “what are you laughing at?” he asked. “You’re so cute when you blush,” you said. He sighed and let go of you, rolling onto his back covering his face with his hands. “You said you wouldn’t mention it,” he whined. You tried to cover up your laughter, “I’m sorry but you’re so cute, I just love you so much,” you said and tried to pull his hands away from his face.

Eventually, he gave up and just let you grab his hands and pull them away from his face. “Consider this payback for every time you’ve made me blush and tease me about it,” you said “alright, alright,” he said and you smiled broadly.

“C’mere,” he said and opened his arms for you again. You just let yourself settle back down in his arms. He kissed your head, and you sighed happily “I hope you know that I love you, and I guess I found one more thing to adore about you. When you blush.”

You looked at your boyfriend who was sitting at the end of the bed putting his shoes on. His hair was still a mess and when he turned to look at you you could see how sleepy he was. You smiled softly at him, “Hi babe, you sleepy?” you asked with a gentle tone. He nodded his head, “It’s way too early.” he said and moved around the bed to sit next to you. “Yeah it is, but hey it’s the start of making tons of new memories,” you said and reached up to run your fingers through his messy hair, trying your best to smooth it out for him. He grabbed your arm gently and brought it down so he could place a kiss on your wrist. “I know, but I want memories with you too, and I’m gonna miss you so much,” he said and leaned forward to press a kiss to your lips. He slowly moved even more forward and pushed you down and back onto the pillows. You giggled at his actions in between kisses. He pulled away a bit and looked down at you with a bright smile on your face as you looked up at him. He then just leaned down and rested his head on your chest, you could feel his breath on your collarbone. You sighed at the feeling of him so close to you, trying not to think about not being able to wake up with him. You reached up to once again run your fingers through his hair, one of his hands was resting next to you and so you reached down to interlace your fingers with his. You could feel the cool metal of the necklace you gave to him, you had one too. It was a small silver chain with a small round pendant that had your first initial on it and you had one with his.

You woke up to someone placing kisses on your face, and it made you sleepily scrunch your nose up and try to turn away. You groaned sleepily, “Baby, I’ve got to leave soon.” you heard Tanner speak. Your eyes immediately opened and you sat up. “Why didn’t you wake me up earlier?” you asked with sleep still evident in your voice. Your hair was a mess and you rubbed the sleep from your eyes as best as you could. You were upset that he hadn’t woken you up earlier like he said he would. “I hate waking you up so early, you know that,” he said and sat on the edge of the bed next to you. “You promised you would wake me up so I could be with you for a while longer, and help with last-minute things,” you said, your tone was sad. He saw the look in your eyes and sighed. 

“I’m sorry babe, I just wanted you to be able to rest because I know you wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep after I woke you up. So waking you up later would mean that you got more rest,” he said and reached forward to grab your hand.  You held it tightly and looked at him with shimmery eyes. “But, I’m not going to see you for so long, and now we barely have any time,” you said with a wobble in your voice. “We have some time and we’re gonna spend it with each other right now,” he said and let go of your hand to scoop you up into his arms. You yelped in surprise and held onto him tightly, “What are you doing?” you giggled. “I want to hold you for as long as I can,” he said and kissed your cheek, you reciprocated the action. “I want you to hold me forever,” you said softly and once again sadness crept into your voice. He looked over at you and set you on the bed.

It was the day that Dakota was set to leave for the next road trip. Your heart always broke a bit these days, knowing you would be away from him for so long. You sat there on the bed while he gathered some last-minute things. 

“Are you excited, babe?” You asked with a small smile, not wanting to be upset and bring his mood down. He looked over at you with a smile. “Yeah, I am really excited about this one.” He said happily. You could hear the sleepiness in his voice still, and it made you smile sadly knowing you wouldn’t wake up to that for a while. “I’m sure it will be a good one.” You said softly. He looked back up at you and his smile faltered a bit, he could tell you were upset. “Hey babe, I’ll be back before you know it ok.” He said and walked over to grab your hands to pull you to the edge of the bed. He pulled you off the bed to stand on your feet so he could pull you into a big hug. You were still in one of his sweaters, with messy hair and your favorite socks on. You buried your face in his chest, trying to savor the feeling of him being in your arms. 

“I’m gonna miss you so much, Kota.” You said and looked up at him with sad eyes. He looked down at you and leaned down to kiss your forehead. I’ll miss you too babe, I always do.“ He said and let you go a bit so he could look at you better. 

He placed his hands on your cheeks and gently ran his thumbs over your cheekbones. Your hands rested in the front pocket of his sweatshirt twisting the ring that he gave to you on your birthday. 

"You know I’m just a call away.” He said and rested his forehead against yours. “I am too ok. Just one call away, no matter what.” You spoke softly.

Missouri State Penitentiary pt.3- Tanner Wiseman x Reader

Summary: Based on Season 3, episode 4 of DF. so all credit goes to the crew, the show and the channel! Dakota’s experiment is revealed and the reader doesn’t react too well. Being without Tanner begins to take a toll on her.

Your heart stopped and you took a step behind Tanner in fear. This was not going to be good for you at all. You knew it was gonna be bad but you didn’t think it would be like this. You could feel that fear that you tried to suppress rise to the surface and you almost started shaking from how scared you were. Knowing Dakota, you knew he would be taking sight, seeing as all that went on in the prison so heavily involved the dark and lost vision. You were horrified as you closed your eyes tightly, trying to keep your breathing regulated. “You know this is a location where people were sent to solitary confinement for so long. 17 years in some cases, that they went blind” at his words your head began to swirl with thoughts of completely losing sight in a dark abandoned prison for God knows how long. You reached up with one hand and grabbed a hold of Tanner’s arm tightly. He looked down at you in concern knowing how scared you were and knowing that Dakota completely obliterated that fear and turned it into horror. He held his camera with one hand and wrapped his arm tightly around you so you were fully leaning into him. You tried to put on a brave face for everyone but then you started shaking. Tanner leaned down and placed a kiss on your head rubbing his hand up and down your arm in a soothing manner. You had to keep it together for the night to continue, you didn’t want to be the reason it would be held up so you tried your best to calm your breathing and stop the tremors your body was experiencing.

“We’re going to put all of our names into a hat, and whoever’s name is drawn has to go alone for up to 3 hours in the dungeon cells blindfolded.” your eyes widened and your breathing soon quickened, your heart was beating so fast you swore it was going to beat right out of your chest. Tanner looked down at you when he felt your hold on him loosen. Immediately he noticed the look in your eyes and gave his camera to Chelsea as quickly as he could. He knew you were about to pass out and he had to act quickly so you wouldn’t hurt yourself when you fell. “Babe, hey, hey stay with me. Look at me, just pay attention to my voice ok. Listen to me babe just try and listen.” you heard your boyfriend’s voice fading in and out as your vision began to blur. You tried to keep your eyes open but all of a sudden your eyes closed and everything went dark.

Tanner held you up when your body went limp, everyone looked on with wide eyes full of worry. “Crap, Chelsea get some water or something for when she wakes up,” Dakota said and Chelsea went to grab a bottle. By this time everyone had set their cameras down, and somehow yours managed to come out unscathed from when it fell. Tanner sat on the ground with you in his arms hoping that you would wake up soon. He knew you couldn’t handle fear and it hurt knowing that he didn’t know exactly what your breaking point was. Dakota looked at your limp body and felt that it was his fault for this happening. If he really would’ve known that this was too far he wouldn’t have done it. Chelsea sat next to you with the water next to her and a hand moving through your hair hoping it would somehow coax you out of your unconscious state.

Tanner held your hand tightly in his squeezing it three times just wishing you would return the sweet gesture you had together.

Everything was just silent as Tanner tried to get you to wake up. “(y/n), hey, c’mon babe wake up.” he said quietly and kissed your forehead.

Your eyes started to flutter and you took a deep breath through your nose. When your eyes completely opened you saw everyone looking on in worry, but with relief riddled in their eyes. You looked up and saw your boyfriend looking down at you with a relieved smile before he lifted you more into his arms and held you close. “You scared us. Are you ok?” he asked, even though he knew the true answer. “Um, yeah, yeah I guess just not enough water today or something. I’m ok though.” you tried to convince everyone around you. Seconds after waking up the fear came rushing back, and it took everything in you not to cry. Tanner saw right through you and you knew that everybody else did as well. You looked at them just to see their looks of doubt. “I’m serious, I’m ok,” you said with a slight shakiness to your voice. You turned to look at Chelsea and forced a smile. “I’m ok Chels, I just need some water that’s all I promise,” you told her. She opened up the bottle of water she had gotten for you and passed it over. You took it gratefully and took a drink trying to get your nerves to calm down. You looked at your boyfriend with a small smile before leaning into him for comfort, not knowing where the night would go. He let you lean against him as he held you tightly. You sighed against his chest and let yourself find some kind of peace and calm before the storm you knew was coming. After a few minutes, you decided you were ready to continue with much reluctance from your boyfriend and friends. “It’s ok if you can’t do this one, we can call the RV back here and you can skip out for tonight. Everyone would understand.” Tanner said as he stood right by your side. “No, it’s ok. Like I said I’m fine, I need to do this,” you whispered the last part to him. He leaned down and placed a soft kiss on your lips and rested his forehead against yours. “We’re always here when you need us ok. We’re right here,” he said and kissed your head before turning back to the others and keeping an arm wrapped around you tightly. You looked at everyone and nodded your head with as much confidence as you could muster.

The cameras were turned back on and the night picked up where it left off.

“Are you sure you wanna do this?” Alex asked with unease. “It honestly might be me who gets to go. I will draw. Only fair.” Dakota said as he reached into the hat and pulled out a piece of paper. You became tense and you let out a big sigh. Tanner squeezed you and you looked up at him with a nervous smile.

Dakota unfolded the name. “Tanner,” he announced. “No!” your boyfriend shouted in fear. Your heart dropped knowing that he would be away from you alone in a cell blindfolded for three hours. The worst things came to mind and you had to hold back from crying, you knew you had to be strong to get through the night. “Oh, this is gonna suck!” Tanner exclaimed. “I mean think about it. I mean people were down there for 17 years, 3 hours…” he trailed off

“Yeah, they did something wrong. I didn’t do anything.” Tanner blurts out

“You don’t know. I could be mad.” Dakota said playfully. You tried to smile at his playfulness but it wasn’t a genuine one. He looked at you with guilt and mouthed an “I’m sorry”, you just nodded trying to let him know that it was ok and you weren’t mad at him.

“Okay.” your boyfriend sighed and sat down. “Alright,” Dakota spoke as he got the blindfold ready. You stood by Tanner and reached for his hand to hold. “Throwing the blindfold on Tanner,” Dakota said. Once it was on he flashed the flashlight at him, “you can’t see the flashing light in your face?” Kota asked him. “No,” he responded and adjusted the blindfold. “Okay, that’s good,” Dakota responded. “No, it’s not good,” Tanner said. 

Dakota picked up a roll of duct tape and began to unravel it. You looked at him with wide eyes. “What the hell are you doing?” you asked incredulously. “Seriously what are you doing?” Tanner followed up on your question. Dakota didn’t speak his only answer was him wrapping the duct tape around the blindfold over your boyfriend’s eyes. 

“Oh, okay,” Tanner said in surprised annoyance. You watched on in annoyance and hurt that he would do that to your boyfriend knowing the fear you had. 

“You don’t have to do it so tight,” Tanner complained. “This is great.” Tanner sarcastically commented. “I didn’t know this was part of the deal,” he spoke again. 

“Okay, I just want to make sure you don’t take it off.  Dakota said. 

You rolled your eyes. “If he gets hurt during this I’m gonna kill you Dakota.” you chuckled dryly and shook your head. “I know, but he won’t I promise.” He told you. You had always trusted Dakota and knew he would never let anything happen to any of you. “You better pray man,” Alex told him with a laugh. “I probably should,” he mumbled and you smiled because you heard him. 

Tanner stood from the chair and you immediately grabbed his arm to steady him. 

“Oh, this is gonna be the real challenge, trying to get you across the damn courtyard and into solitary without you tripping and taking me with you.” You joked although you were a bit serious. Everybody let out a laugh including your boyfriend. “Hey, at least you have a likely chance of landing on me and not the ground.” he shrugged playfully.

You rolled your eyes once more. “Alright, let’s get you over there. Although I’d really prefer you not do this at all.” You mumbled for only him to hear. He fumbled a bit to find your hand and when he did he squeezed it tightly. “I’ll be fine. It’ll be over before you know it and I’ll be right back next to you,” he said soothingly. “You better not go fucking blind down there,” you said under your breath and he let out a big laugh. Everybody turned to look at you both with raised eyebrows. “What’s so funny?” Chelsea asked with a grin. “Nothing.” you both answered at the same time and it made you smile.

Missouri State Penitentiary pt.2-Tanner Wiseman x Reader

Summary: Based on season3, episode 4 of DF. so all credit, to the crew, the shows and the channel. The group prepares to investigate, and the reader finally knows the experiment Dakota has planned. how will the reader react?

You walked into the RV and everyone smiled softly at you in an attempt to calm your nerves. 

“I’m sorry about earlier you guys I’m just really nervous for tomorrow.” you apologized to your friends. “It’s ok (y/n), we understand,” Chelsea said and got up to hug you. You hugged back tightly and mumbled a small thank you. 

“Kota, I’m sorry for snapping at you earlier. I really wasn’t thinking and I’m sorry,” you said in regret. He could see how upset you were about it and so he got up and walked over to pull you into a hug. You hugged him back tightly and just told him you were sorry. “Don’t be sorry, It’s ok. I know you didn’t mean to.” he pulled back and gave you a warm smile. You nodded your head and sighed. “I love you guys,” you told them, and they responded with the same words. 

“Well, it’s gonna be a long day tomorrow so let’s try and get some rest,” Dakota said and everyone moved to get ready to go to sleep. 

You lied next to your boyfriend as he held you close. “I’m right here babe, try and get some rest,” he said quietly and kissed your head one last time before falling asleep next to you.

You woke up the next morning and felt that there was no one beside you. The spot your boyfriend occupied was now cold and it made you whine knowing it was time to get up. 

You slowly got up and got ready for the day before joining the others. 

“Hey, look who finally decided to rejoin the land of the living.” Alex joked. You playfully glared at him and sat yourself next to Tanner. You sighed heavily knowing that today would be long, and most definitely unkind to you all.

You were mere hours away from heading to the location and your mind was racing. You knew that Tanner would be with you, but you also knew he wouldn’t be next to you for the whole night. That was ok, but still, it freaked you out even more because of the location you were going to be at. The fact that Chelsea, Dakota, and Alex would be with you as well made things a little better, but it didn’t wash away the concern completely. 

You had gotten up to go hang out with Chels for a while on the bed in the back. You greeted your friend and sat down next to her. 

“Hey, Chels. You nervous about tonight?” you asked. “Yeah, I am but when am I not you know.” she chuckled and you did as well. “How about you? How are you doing, any better than last night?” she asked and set her phone down so she could talk with you. 

“Honestly, I’m still scared. I’m not ready for this one Chels, and I’m nervous about being separated I know we do it every time but this time I’m really not so sure I can.” You revealed to her. 

“You can always walkie us, you know we’ll come running if you need us. I’ll try and make sure I’m with you for the whole night ok. You won’t be alone, and if Tanner is separated from you you’ll still have one of us. I know you’re scared but it’ll be ok, we’re right there with you.” she reassured you. “I just hope Dakota’s experiment won’t be too bad.” you sighed. She could hear the nerves in your voice. She reached over and grabbed your hand, “It’ll be ok. I promise.” she said and squeezed your hand. 

You nodded your head trying to get her words to stick with you. 

It was a while later when Tanner walked in and saw you had fallen asleep he smiled softly at you knowing you needed the rest. Chelsea smiled at him and patted the bed softly as to not wake you. She carefully got off of the bed so Tanner could be next to you, after switching places Chelsea made her way to the front of the RV to give you some time. 

Tanner let his hand run over your hair and it made your eyes flutter open slightly. At the sight of him, you smiled sleepily and moved closer so you could wrap your arms around him. His hand rested on your back and traced light patterns, he looked down at you with a comforting smile. 

“How are you feeling babe?” he asked you while pushing hair away from your face so he could see you. “I’m ok, feeling a little bit better since you and Chels talked to me. I just hope everything goes ok tonight because I know that after this we still have so much more to go. I don’t want the second location to get to me, I don’t want to not be able to handle the rest of them. I just want to get it done, and leave it behind so we can go forward you know.” You spoke to your boyfriend. He nodded at you and pulled you up so that you were upright and next to him. 

“It’ll be over before you know it. I know it will be a difficult one and that’s ok we have all had hard locations that we needed some time to bounce back from. You’ll be ok, and the rest of the trip will be just fine.” he said and kissed your head. “What if you’re not fine?” you asked with worry swimming in your eyes. “Hey, no. Don’t think like that, I’ll be fine. You’ll be there with me and so will everyone else. All of us will be ok I promise you.” he said and leaned down to press a kiss on your lips. Your hand blindly reached for his and you interlaced your fingers loving the feeling of him so close to you. You pulled away slowly and smile shyly at him, “I love you (y/n).” he reminded you. “I love you too,” you reply and give him one last peck. 

“How about we head back out there it’s almost time,” he said and you took a deep breath before nodding your head. He helps you off of the bed and you both walk to the front to sit down with everyone as you continued to get closer to the location.

Everyone had their cameras out as Dakota began to talk about that night. 

“Tonight is the night that we go to the Missouri Penitentiary. How are you guys feeling? Are you guys ready?” He asked with a smile. You looked at him with a raised brow. 

“Oh yeah, Dakota I am so ready for this. I’m the most confident I’ve ever been.” you retort sarcastically and they all laugh. “Usually I can fake some confidence but tonight I have none. I’m nervous about your experiment that you have.” Alex replied as well. You immediately moved across the small couch to kiss Alex on the cheek in exaggeration of your appreciation for his agreement with you. “Thank you, Alex! This is why I love you! You agree with me when he’s being stupid!” you exclaim. He lets out a big laugh and Dakota rolls his eyes. You squeeze his shoulder and return to your place next to Tanner. “Those ideas are never really good” Your boyfriend agreed and you kissed his cheek as well and grabbed his free hand in yours. 

“Are you like second-guessing the experiment at all as we’re driving closer to the location or what are your thoughts on that?” Chelsea asked her brother. You sat up straighter, ready to hear what he had to say, a small part of you hoping he would have changed his mind about it. 

“It’s obviously going to be a next-level type of experiment tonight, but I am confident that each and every one of us can take on this challenge. And I think we might need it too. You know we’ve been- we’ve been through a lot. It’s gonna take a lot now to raise the bar. I don’t want us to be not scared.” He said. Your heart dropped as he spoke about it. 

“Speak for yourself!” Tanner exclaimed and you all let out laughs, though you were absolutely horrified. You just had to keep reminding yourself that you weren’t going to be alone for most of the night and that everyone would be with you and you’d all be ok. 

“I’ve been terrified every place we’ve gone.” your boyfriend finished and you chuckled before leaning into him and letting his presence be your comfort. 

“I hope you know that if the spirits take my sight you’ll hear from my lawyer.” you jokingly pointed a finger at your friend. 

But, in all honesty, you were afraid that you would somehow lose your sight. you knew it sounded silly and it was highly likely that it wouldn’t happen but it was an irrational fear that never seemed to disappear from your thoughts.

“Chelsea, Tanner, you guys wanna hop up front?” Dakota asks. 

“I guess it’s time,” Tanner says with a smile. He stood up and squeezed your hand before leaving to look through the window. 

You hesitantly rose and moved over to take a seat at the table so you had better access the window next to it, As soon as the location was in view you tensed up. The location was huge and you could tell this would most likely be the worst investigation for you. Dakota noticed how tense you were and reached over the table to grab your hand tightly in his. You looked away from the window so you could see his face. His eyes held encouragement as he squeezed your hand trying to comfort you. You gave him a small smile and he smiled back sweetly. “You’ll be ok,” he told you and squeezed your hand one more time. He went to pull his hand away but you just held on tighter. 

“Oh, what?!” Tanner exclaimed. “That’s huge!” Chelsea spoke just as loud as Tanner. 

“This is so intimidating.” she said. 

Dakota looked at you and gave another reassuring smile before speaking up. “Alright, let’s do it,” he said. 

“Oh no,” Chelsea whined. 

Dakota dropped your hand as he got up to exit the RV, “I fucking hate you all.” you muttered under your breath but Alex heard it and chuckled. “I do too,” he said and it made a small smile form on your face. 

Dakota opened the door. “Woah. Holy crap,” he said as he stepped outside and saw the full view of the prison. 

Chelsea exited after her brother and Tanner gently pushed you in front of him. You reached your hand back so you could hold his while walking out. You pulled him along with you trying to keep calm and ground yourself knowing that Tanner was next to you. When you heard Alex shut the door it made you jump and turn around quickly to see what happened. Tanner looked down at you in sympathy. “It’s ok babe, Alex just closed the door too hard. Nothing to be afraid of ok I’ve got you,” he said as you looked up at him with doe-eyes. You nodded your head and began to walk toward the building again. 

“After you guys,” Dakota said as he held the door open for everyone. 

“So creepy,” Chelsea announced as she walked in. you sighed and continued on through the building and into the courtyard. “Oh my God dude. This is so big!” your boyfriend exclaimed from beside you. “Oh, no!” Chelsea exclaimed for the second time that night. 

“There is something so wrong with you Dakota!” you proclaim. He just turns to look at you with a goofy grin and everyone laughs. You all approach the entrance to the main building and fear accumulates in your stomach. 

“Alright, let’s do it,” Dakota spoke. 

Tanner released your hand so he could hold the door for everyone, and you did your best to be calm. You knew he was right next to you and that’s all you needed, at least that’s what you tried to convince yourself. 

You all set up the gear room and you tried t keep your mind occupied by getting a song stuck in your head. You just sang it in your head. 

“I can take you out oh, oh

We can kill some time stay home

Throw balloons, teddy bears, and the chocolate eclairs away,

Got nothing but love for you, fall more in love every day

Valentine.” 

The 5 seconds of Summer song trapped in your mind caused you to begin unconsciously singing it under your breath. The first one to notice was your boyfriend and it put a smile on his face at the sound of your voice. It seemed that eventually everyone had heard you and tried to hold back their laughter and smiles. 

You noticed everyone had suddenly stopped setting things up and you quickly looked up to see them all staring at you. 

“Why are you all staring at me?” you asked in concern. 

“You were singing.” Alex chuckled. Your cheeks heated up immediately. 

“What? No- no I wasn’t.” you try to defend yourself. “No.” Chelsea laughs. “You totally were.” they all chuckled. 

“I can take you out oh,

We can kill some time stay home 

Throw-” Tanner tried to mimic you and you slapped his arm. “I do not sound like that!” you raised your voice. “Oh, but you totally do.” Dakota laughed. 

Tanner walks towards you and wraps his arms around your waist from behind while settling his chin on your shoulder. “What was the even about?” he asks, and you giggle at the feeling of his breath on your ear. 

“I just want to distract myself so I don’t think about this place too much you know. I was just trying to calm down,” you said with warm cheeks and a shy smile. “And so you decide to sing 5 Seconds of Summer?” (you can change the song to anything you like, I just really love the song and it makes me feel better when I’m having a hard time!)

“Yeah,” you nodded your head. 

“You’re adorable,” Tanner whispered and kissed your cheek. 

Everyone went back to setting everything up and once you were done you picked up your cameras and prepared yourselves for a long night. 

“So we just set up our gear room. And now we are about to start our overnight. So before we get going, I do have a proposition.” Dakota announces and you sigh heavily. 

“A proposition?” Chelsea asked. “You have an idea,” Tanner said and you added to his statement. “A more than likely stupid idea.” you quipped he looked at you in feigned annoyance and offense. “That’s the same thing as you have an idea.” Chelsea continued. 

“It’s not the same thing.” her younger brother defended himself. 

“We can deny a proposition can’t we?” Alex threw out there. 

“Okay, I have a plan then?” Dakota asked. “It’s not a plan. You have an idea,” you said. 

“Cool, you picked a new word. Congratulations it still sucks.” Tanner said and made you giggle. He smiled down at you, happy knowing he brought you a bit of joy throughout the fear you were plagued with. 

“Okay, I have a suggestion.” Dakota tried once again. 

“Your suggestion suck.” Your boyfriend pipped up again. “It’s just a suggestion. We can deny that, right?” Alex fires back. It made you laugh.

“You guys, you need to bear with me.” Dakota pleaded. 

“Say what you always say, you have an idea,” Chels spoke again. 

“I wanna see what happens when we take away one of our senses,” Dakota revealed his experiment to you all.

Missouri State Penitentiary pt.1- Tanner Wiseman x Reader

warnings: language, bits and pieces of fluff, the usual creepy packet read(if that counts), i think that’s it. if not please let me know!

Summary: This series is based off of season 3, episode 2 of DF. So, all credit to the crew, the show and the channel. Reader and the group are tired from their first investigation. will Reader be able to handle the next one even with her Boyfriend Tanner by her side?

It had only been a couple of days since your first location of the road trip and you were already exhausted. You could tell that everyone else was as well, and it made you chuckle a bit. 

They all looked at you with confusion as you let out a small laugh. Your boyfriend Tanner looked down at you sitting next to him with his brows drawn together in confusion. 

“What are you laughing about weirdo?” he asked. “I just think it’s funny how exhausted we are after one location. I always forget how much energy it takes out of you on these road trips,” you explained. 

They all nodded in agreement, and Tanner wrapped his arm around you to hold you tighter to him and you sighed in content while relaxing in his hold. 

“Yeah, I forget how depleting these road trips are. Even right off the bat, it’s like one of these locations can just suck the energy right out of you.” Chelsea said. 

“Yeah.” Dakota agreed. “We have so much road trip left,” she spoke again. 

“I’m tired. I’m like seriously so tired.” Dakota expressed his own exhaustion. 

“That was a long night,” Alex added. “Yeah honestly, it was a huge location.” you agreed with him. 

You looked to Dakota as he spoke up again. “That was a really massive location that took a lot out of us, and this next one is equally as big.” you let out a sigh as you rolled your eyes and let your head lull back in exasperation. Tanner chuckled at you before asking a question. “Where are we going now?” 

“Right now, we’re headed to a place called Jailhouse Pizza,” Dakota confirmed your next destination. Your eyes lit up and you gasped. 

“Pizza?!” you exclaimed. You looked up at your boyfriend in excitement with a wide grin and he laughed before leaning down to press a kiss on your forehead. 

“I love pizza!” Chelsea beamed at her brother. She reached over the table to high-five him as he expressed his excitement as well. 

“Good call.” she praised. 

“Seriously, I’m stoked right now.” you professed your elation. 

“It actually used to be a jail and then it was abandoned. And they came in and renovated it into a pizza place.” Dakota revealed. 

“Pizza in a jail?” Alex asked. “Uh-huh,” Dakota confirmed. “Is it haunted?” he asked the question that you were sure most of you were wondering, or at least you were. 

“It is haunted.” Dakota once again confirmed. 

You let out another sigh, one of the many you would let out throughout the road trip. 

“For once can we go to a place that isn’t haunted? Like damn Dakota.” you expressed and he laughed. “I guess keep your guard up while you’re taking a bite.” he shrugged. 

 You flipped him off and everyone chuckled. 

“I hate you sometimes Kota, I swear,” you complained a bit and he just tossed you a Cheshire grin. 

 You huffed and curled in on yourself so you could fit next to your boyfriend and leave some more space on the couch for Alex. 

“It better be some damn good Pizza,” you grumbled and Tanner chuckled.

You pulled up to the place and piled out of the RV. One of Tanner’s beanies sat atop your head and a need for food filled your stomach. 

He grabbed your hand and interlocked his fingers with yours and squeezed slightly. You squeezed his hand back and he brought it up to his lips to place a kiss on your knuckles. It made you smile brightly at the small yet incredibly sweet gesture of affection.

“If a Pizza place prisoner ghost gets me. Promise to find love again,” you said to your boyfriend and it made him laugh. He pulled you to a halt before grabbing your waist and leaning down to kiss you sweetly, his nose was cold as it bumped yours but his lips were warm. He pulled away. “I make no promises.” he joked and tugged you toward the entrance where your friends waited. 

Tanner held the door open for everyone before walking in behind you so he could wrap one arm around your waist and hold the camera with the other one. 

“Let’s check this out,” Dakota said and you all walked around the place, acting silly. 

Dakota closed one of the cell doors and you could hear Tanner whine and it made you giggle. 

“That’s not very nice dude.” your boyfriend whines as he’s let out. “This would be foreshadowing, I don’t know,” Dakota said and you looked at him with a confused glare. 

You all decided it was time to sit down and order, you entered your “jail cell” and looked through the menus. You were seated between Tanner and Chelsea, as you looked through the options. 

“What do you guys even like on your pizza?” Dakota asked everyone in curiosity. 

“I’m a cheese gal,” Chelsea revealed and you looked at her and chuckled. “Same as her,” you told them. 

“Just the cheese?” Alex questioned incredulously.

“Yeah, guys,” you said and chuckled. “That’s so boring,” Alex exclaimed. “I know,” Chelsea said. 

You just rolled your eyes and let out a laugh. 

“They have a pizza called the Electric Chair. It says “Warning, eat at your own risk,” pepperoni sausage, jalapeno peppers, hot sauce, and it says “Caution, very hot.” “ Dakota described the pizza to you all. 

“I’m going to order that,” he stated. You laughed. “You boys are not gonna handle it very well I swear.” you joked and they looked at you in offense.

The pizza arrives and your eyes light up, “You guys! Look at this! I have never been more ready to eat a pizza in my entire life!” you blurted in excitement. They all laugh before reaching to grab their pieces. “Time to try the hottest pizza in the state,” Dakota announced. 

The boys took their first bites and their eyes widened at the heat of it. Tanner fanned his mouth and Alex stuck out his tongue and whined. You looked at Dakota and saw him rubbing his eyes. “I’m actually crying,” he said and you grinned. “I told you boys.” you nagged and Chelsea laughed. “Well, let’s see you try it then!” Alex challenged. You brought the pizza up to your mouth and took a bite, you could feel the heat but it wasn’t nearly as bad as they made it out to be. Your assumption was correct, they just couldn’t handle it. It wasn’t really bad, honestly, it tasted really good. They all looked at you as you calmly took another bite and chewed happily. “What the hell is wrong with you?” Your boyfriend asked. “It’s honestly not that hot, you guys are obviously just babies,” you said with a shrug and a smile. Chels took a bite and looked at you with no sense of discomfort just like your reaction had been. You raised your hand and gave her a high-five. She chuckled as you all continued to eat. 

Dakota set down his drink and spoke. “Do you guys want a hint about the main haunted location we’re going to tomorrow night?” 

His question made you nod your head with fervor. 

“Sure,” Tanner answered. 

“There were people at this location who literally spent over two decades in total darkness,” he said. “What?” your boyfriend questioned in shock. Your eyes widened and you reached to grab Tanner’s hand, he held it in reassurance. “Two decades?” Chelsea inquired. 

Dakota hummed in confirmation. “So much so that they went blind. By the time they went out, they couldn’t see anymore.” He explained. “That’s horrible Dakota. What the hell?” you said. 

“That is messed up,” Alex added. 

“I can’t imagine being stuck in darkness enough for you to go blind. I don’t even know like a type of place that would do that to a person.” Tanner spoke. 

“I got nothing,” Chelsea said. 

“I honestly have no clue…” you said softly. 

Tanner looked down at you and let go of your hand to wrap his arm around your shoulder knowing that you were afraid of the dark. It was always a hard part of being on the road trip, being in the dark for hours on end really freaked you out. 

He leaned down and pressed a kiss on your hair before whispering. “You’ll be ok babe, I’ll be there I promise.” you nodded and leaned into him a bit more.

You all got back into the RV and took a seat. You sat next to Tanner at the table your back was against the wall and your legs were draped over his. He let his hand rest on your thigh drawing comforting nonsensical patterns. He could tell you were even more nervous about the location because of the information Dakota had disclosed earlier. 

The hours leading up to the packet read weren’t very easy for you. All of it was stressing you out more so than usual. You hated the dark and you had a feeling that Dakota was going to have one of his stupid ideas and center it around that. It gave you anxiety like you couldn’t believe. The only thing keeping you grounded was Tanner being close to you and giving you as much comfort as he could. 

You pulled off of the road and you knew it was time to get out and read the packet. It was time to figure out where you were going next, and honestly, you weren’t ready to know. You Tanner, and Chels sat across from Dakota with the packet in his hands. You were tense and Tanner could tell  so he pulled you closer to him to try and help you relax a bit. He rubbed his hand up and down your back in soothing motions helping to release some of the tension that had been building all day. “Alright. Are you guys ready to find out where we’re going? Dakota exhaled the question. “I mean I’m definitely nervous.” Your boyfriend answered. “I am definitely not ready for this.” you exhaled heavily. Chelsea reached over and gave your hand a reassuring squeeze. “There’s an experiment that I do have in mind for this location, something that we’ve never done before,” he said and your heart dropped. You knew he had something up his sleeve, he always did. “Those never end well.” you rolled your eyes at him. “Hey! They aren’t that bad.” he protested. Chelsea raised an eyebrow at her brother.“Fine ok, they’re horrible but they’re effective,” he said. “Now let’s just say this is going to be a night we’ll probably never forget. So you guys wanna open the packet?” he questioned. He passed the packet forward toward Tanner and he took it from him. You watched as he slowly revealed the location you were going to stay in the next night. “The Missouri State penitentiary!” you all exclaimed. You internally cringed not wanting to hear anything about it as Tanner began to read the packet. “Once infamously labeled ‘the bloodiest 47 acres in America,’ the Missouri State Penitentiary now sits vacant stoically decaying along the Missouri River. In operation for 168 years. The prison held some of America’s most notorious criminals, including Robert pretty boy Floyd, anarchist Emma Goldman, and even murderer James Earl Ray. It was from this prison that James Earl Ray escaped and assassinated Martin Luther King Jr.” Tanner finished. You sighed heavily and Chelsea took the packet next and begun to read. “The violence of this penitentiary was legendary and nearly 2,000 people died on-site.” She handed the packet over to you and you sighed before starting to read. “One inmate firebug johnson was kept in the dungeon cells of housing unit 4 for 17 years after he started a fire that killed four fellow inmates.” you stopped and looked up from the page in disbelief.  “Can you imagine being locked in a dungeon isolation cell for 17 years?” Dakota asked. You could’ve cried, it was almost like you could feel yourself locked away in pure darkness completely alone. You were terrified to go to this location. “With no light, of course, you’re going to go absolutely crazy,” Tanner said. “I have never heard that at any penitentiary before,” Chelsea added. “And it gets worse. Trust me.” Dakota said. Your muscles became tense once again and Tanner noticed that this wasn’t going to be good for you at all. He was honestly scared for you, he knew you were strong but you needed him to be there for you more than ever and he would be.  “Forty death row inmates were executed here, most in the gas chambers that are still on the grounds today.” Chelsea read. “Gas chambers!” you exclaimed“I didn’t know that was a thing in the U.S.” Alex revealed. “No,” said Dakota. “I really didn’t,” Alex said. “That is disgusting,” Tanner stated. You grabbed the packet that chels handed over to you. “In 1953, the prison had the notorious distinction of executing a woman, Bonnie B. Heady. Putting her and her partner, Carl Hall to death at the same time. They had kidnapped 6-year old Bobby Greenlease the son of a multi-millionaire auto dealer and demanded 600,000 dollar ransom for his safe return.” you finished. You were disgusted completely by these people. “Why write a ransom if you’ve already killed the son?” Chelsea asked. “You know it’s hard to feel bad for those types of people when they do something so horrific like that,” Tanner said and you nodded. Continuing on you read, “It’s said that Bonnie’s soul is still contained inside the gas chambers to this day.” you finished with a slight tremble of fear in your voice. Tanner kissed your temple before squeezing you tightly. Dakota takes the packet and furthers into the hauntings. “Haunted accounts.” he starts. “The prison has immense paranormal activity, and many claim it was haunted even while it was still in operation. Since it closed in 2004, the activity has increased tenfold,” he said. They all noticed how uncomfortable you looked. They had no idea why it was affecting you so badly this time because it never did this much damage to you before. They were worried. “You ok (y/n)?” Alex asked the question everyone had on their mind. “Oh, um yeah. It’s all just incredibly disturbing you know. It’s just hard to think about.” you explained to them. Not wanting them to know what the exact truth was. “You sure?” Tanner asked and moved a stray hair out of your face gently as you looked up at him. “I promise,” you assured. You let Dakota continue. “The most active areas include Housing Unit 1. People report seeing full apparitions of female prisoners walking into cells. Intense class A EVP’s have also been captured. Including one that said ‘somebody cut me apart’. Your eyes widened in surprise. “What?” you asked in fear. “Alright, Tanner,” Dakota said and passed the packet back to his friend. “The gas chambers, a woman’s voice can be heard softly speaking. Many believe it’s Bonnie Heady. She’s been heard whispering ‘love’ to those who enter.” he read. “Who else would it be?” Dakota queried. “And she was executed with her boyfriend, so it’s almost like she’s talking to her boyfriend or searching out for him,” Tanner explained his thoughts.Chels took the packet next. “The dungeon Cells!” she exclaimed. “Yep” her brother confirmed. “Otherwise known as solitary confinement, located in Housing Unit 4, people report having their hair tugged, their ankles grabbed, and being viciously scratched. Menacing entity resides here appearing with half a face next to visitors and transferring his distress and pain onto them until they are so overwhelmed they flee the area.” she continued. “What the fuck Dakota?” you sighed heavily and shook your head. “I know, it’s insane,” he said. Chelsea hands the packet to you and you take a deep breath before reading. “3d Punishment Cells. These are the basement solitary confinement cells for Housing Unit 3, and many people refuse to be down here alone. The energy is very unsettling and violent.” you read. “Ok screw that,” Tanner interjects. You nod aggressively in agreement with your boyfriend. “There is also an 8-foot tall shadow figure sometimes the figure becomes a full apparition that opens its mouth and silently screams until they leave.” you read in disbelief. Your heart starts racing at the thought of being alone down there completely in the dark. You grab Tanner’s hand and interlace your fingers to try and find some sort of comfort. He rubs his thumb on the back of your hand in soothing figure eights. “Yeah,” Dakota said. “Are you kidding me?” Tanner said incredulously. “That’s just creepy,” Dakota spoke up. You glare at him. “That’s out of a damn nightmare Dakota!” you practically shout. They all look at you in surprise at your tone of voice. Dakota could tell you were especially uneasy and began to feel a bit bad, but it had to be done. He didn’t know you were going to react this way, he couldn’t do anything about it now. Tanner squeezed your hand in an attempt to calm you down. He knew you were scared and it hurt him to see you this way, you’d never reacted this way before. You looked up at him with a glint of fear in your eyes and he tugged you closer so you could lean against him. You sighed and shook your head before going completely quiet. Everyone tried to shake off your little outburst and Chelsea spoke up to ease some tension and get the attention away from you, she could tell you felt bad and wanted to make your feelings lessen. “Dakota, you don’t have the best track record with prisons.” She said to her younger brother. “No, I don’t. I do not like prisons. They scare me more than any other location. And this one could get the best of us.” He said. “This is going to be difficult,” Tanner stated. Everyone nodded in agreement. “Well, you guys it’s time to wrap this up and get some rest for tomorrow because God knows we’re gonna need it,” Dakota spoke before rising from his seat to get ready to head back to the RV. As everyone headed back you kinda hung back, your mind was racing and you knew for a fact that you would get absolutely no sleep that night. You had no idea you had stopped walking until you felt a hand on your cheek. Your eyes snapped up to see Tanner standing in front of you with worry clouding his eyes.  “Babe, I know you’re not ok. I know you’re scared, but we’ll be ok.” he tried to reassure you. You shook your head. “Tanner I don’t know if I can do this one. I really don’t know if I can,” you spoke up and placed your hand around his wrist. “I know it’s scary, but what else has you so worked up about this location?” he asked gently. Your eyes teared up and you sighed shakily. “It’s so dark. I know that it’s always dark and I know that you know I hate the dark, but something about this one is too much for me.” you began to explain to your boyfriend. He nodded his head in understanding letting you know he was listening to you. “People were locked in the dark for 17 years. They were locked in the dark until they completely lost their sight until everything in their lives went totally black. The history is so horrible and the hauntings are worse. An eight-foot-tall shadow figure, Tanner, I don’t think I can do this one. I don’t want to end up alone with that thing, and Dakota’s experiment. Fuck, those are never good, and especially at this location, I’m sure it’ll be even worse. I’m not ready for this Tanner.” you were crying now. Tears ran down your cheeks and your boyfriend wiped them away. His eyes held sympathy and worry, they also held understanding and love. “Oh, babe, I’m so sorry. I know it seems horrible, and it is honestly. I know how much the dark scares you, I know all of this information is hard to hear and horrifying to take in, but I promise that everything will be ok. I know you don’t feel ready for this, I know you don’t think you can handle it, but I know how strong you are. I know how brave you are, and look how far you’ve come, you have overcome so many of the things that you fear, and I know you haven’t conquered the dark yet but you will. Even if you don’t I’ll be right there next to you in it. You won’t be alone I swear. As for Dak’s experiment, I’m sure that it will be ok. I know it’s scary not knowing what will happen, but I promise I won’t let you go through more than you can handle. You’ll be ok.” he said and brought you into his arms. You let out small cries as you held tightly to him not wanting to let him go. He cradled your head to his chest and whispered words of encouragement. You pulled away from him just a bit so you could look up at him. Your eyes were puffy and red and mascara had stained your cheeks. “I love you Tanner.” your voice broke. He leaned down and pressed his lips against yours in a sweet kiss. You pressed up on your toes a bit and wrapped your arms around his neck while his arms weaved around your waist. He pulled away first and your feet landed flat on the ground again and your cheeks were flooded with heat as he lovingly looked down at you. “I love you too,” he said and kissed your head. “Now how about we go try and get some rest before tomorrow. I’ll protect you I promise, let’s go get some sleep,” he said and grasped your smaller hand in his to pull you toward the RV. you held his hand tighter and followed along.

The 1- Alex Schroeder x Reader

After high school you and your boyfriend of 4 years broke up. It crushed you to see him walk away, you really thought he was the one. You still remember the day it happened. The day Alex Schroeder broke your heart.

It was about a month after you graduated high school and you were extremely happy. It was a new beginning and you were starting it with the love of your life.

He was supposed to pick you up so you could to the movies and he would be there any minute. You heard a knock on the door and ran down the stairs to get it. You opened the door and there he stood, you could tell something wasn't right and it made your brows pull together.

"Alex, are you ok?" You asked with worry in your eyes. "Can I come in?" He answered your question with a question.

"Yeah of course you can, you always can." You told him and went to grab his hand but he pulled it away. You looked at him with a hurt and confused expression.

He looked anywhere but you as he walked into the house. "Let's go up stairs." He said before heading up. Your heart was racing and your mind swirled with questions.

You entered your room after him and shut the door.

"Alex, you need to tell me what's wrong. I'm worried." You informed him.

He sighed heavily and still looked anywhere but at you. "Look at me Al." You told him. He hesitated for a moment before looking at you. You saw what looked like guilt on his face.

"(Y/n), I don't want to hurt you I hope you know that." He said. Your stomach dropped, you hoped what you knew was coming wouldn't happen. "What do you mean Al?" You asked timidly.

"I hate to see you cry." He said.

"Alex. Just say it." You stated in impatient frustration.

He looked at you with sadness and regret before taking a shaky breath.

"I know it's hard to hear, and it's hard to say but I think it's for the best that we break up." He said as kindly as possible. You look at him with wide eyes, he could see the pain flood into them creating pools of water. He felt his heart sink at the sight of you so hurt and knowing it was him that caused your tears. He knew he was doing it for the best, but he also knew he wanted you still.

Tears ran down your cheeks as his words crawled under your skin. It was over, the best part of your life was over. The love that had held you so safely cast you aside and you had no idea why.

You looked at him and the only words you spoke were a question.

"Why?" Your voice was so small, so shattered. His breath caught in his throat when he heard the question. He noticed the way you stood with your arms crossed across your chest. He had learned that you only did that when you felt the need to be protected, when you wanted to guard your heart from anymore damage. He shut his eyes tightly and held back tears.

"Please tell me why..." you pleaded softly.

He walked closer to you and you fought the urge to back away from him. He stood in front of you not knowing whether to try and hold your hands or just let you be.

"We have different plans. We both want different things. I think it's best if we go our separate ways to be able to accomplish those things." He explained to you what he felt. He put it as simply and straightforward as he could.

He sees no anger in your eyes, you nod.

"If that's what you want then I'll respect that." You told him with trembling lips and a broken voice. He felt tears fall down his cheeks.

"It's for the best." He told you while trying to control te uneasiness in his voice.

You took a step back and let out a shaky sigh.

"Well when you get to where you're going don't forget me ok." You breathed out and stepped forward to place a kiss on his cheek for the last time.

When you pulled back you looked at him. His eyes were trained on you and you could see the sadness in them.

"I'd never forget you (y/n), ever." He reassured you.

You nodded at him and tried your best to smile.

"I hope you find what you're looking for." You said with finality.

"Goodbye (y/n/n)." He said before exiting the room.

When the door closed he could hear you start to cry and it caused his vision to blur with tears again knowing he just completely changed your life and his own.

You heard the front door close and you took a blurry look around your room. All the pictures you had with him and your friends. Your favorite stood proudly by your bed framed behind glass. The two of you were sitting under the bleachers with grass stained jeans and remnants of your strawberry lip gloss on his lips. Dakota took the picture after he and Tanner noticed you and Alex "sneak" away from the group. They made a joke about the lip gloss and it caused a smile to form on your face as Alex glared at them. That's how that picture came to be on your night stand.

You didn't pick it up and break it but you slipped it out of the frame to look at it. It made your heart break a little more at the memory and so you put it in a box filled with other special moments in time.

It had been years since that happened and you heart still ached. You looked at the TV and smile at the people you knew. Alex, Dakota, Tanner and Chelsea had their own show and it made your heart swell with pride knowing he found what he was looking for.

So had you.

You had an album that just came out and it was one of the things you were most proud of. There was a specific song on the album that reminded you of Alex. It was called The 1 and it was about him, it was about everything. Yo cried when you wrote it but it was a truly beautiful moment in the album process.

You wonder to yourself sometimes if he has heard it. If he knows...

"Hey Al, have you heard this album before?" Chelsea sits next to him.

"What is it?" He asked "it's called Folklore, and it's by (y/n) (y/l)." She said and raised her brow while looking at him. His eyes widened as he looked at her.

Are you serious? She did it?!" He questioned excitedly.

"Yeah she did." Chelsea smiled brightly. "Who did what?" Dakota asked as he and Tanner entered the room. "(Y/n) released an album!" Chelsea exclaimed. "Oh shit seriously?" Tanner asked excitedly.

"Yeah, and it's fucking amazing!" She exclaimed excitedly. Chelsea took her phone out and pulled up the album to show everyone. "Do you guys wanna hear it?" She asked with a big smile, they all nodded.

"Ok so the first song is called The 1, and I'm pretty sure it's about you Alex. Just listen." She explained and reached to grab a tissue. They all looked at her with slight concern. Alex could already tell it was gonna be hard to listen to. He was nervous about hearing especially seeing Chelsea grab a tissue obviously assuming she'd cry.

"Is that really necessary?" Alex asked. She just nodded. "I cry when I hear it sometimes leave me alone." She said. Alex put his hands up in defense while the other boys laughed.

"Ok everyone be quiet here we go!" She said as her thumb hovered over the play button. Alex took a deep breath as the music started.

"I'm doing good I'm on some new shit.

Been saying yes instead of no.

I thought I saw you at the bus stop I didn't though.

I hit the ground runnin' each night

I hit the Sunday matinee."

Your voice flowed through the phone speaker and Chelsea mouthed the words along with you. Alex was still trying to process that the song was about him and was trying to listen to the lyrics as carefully as possible.

"You know the greatest films of all time were never made.

I guess you never know never know

And if you wanted me you really should have showed."

They all glanced at Alex.

"And if you never bleed

But it's alright now.

It was just the beginning and Alex was already feeling his heart ache a bit at the memory of leaving you.

"I really loved the chorus." Tanner said "She's always been great with words. I remember she used to help me with my essays and stuff." Dakota said with a smile.

"Me too and she was a grade below me." Tanner said and chuckled.

"I had this dream you're doing cool shit

Having adventures on your own

You meet some woman on the internet and take her home."

"Well she's not wrong about the cool shit." Dakota said. They all chuckled and looked at Alex. They could all see he was lost in thought. They could tell he was trying to process everything.

"We never painted by the numbers baby but we were making it count.

You know the greatest loves of all time are over now.

I guess you never know never know

And it's another day waking up alone.

You always used to call him baby and it made his heart ache hearing your voice use the word again. Knowing you were talking about him. All of it made him think about the time you and he were barely apart.

"I persist and resist the temptation to ask if you if one thing had been different would everything be different today?"

At the question he closed his eyes tightly thinking about it as if he really had to answer you.

He hears a sniffle and his eyes snap toward where the sound came from. Chelsea had tears in her eyes. They all look at her in concern. "You ok Chels?" Her brother asked.

"Yeah, yeah I'm ok just that part makes me really emotional because I know what she's talking about because she told me everything. She always told me everything.

I just know how much it means to her, and how much it would mean to her knowing you've heard it Al. She loves you, I can hear it.

"We were something don't you think so?

Rosé flowin' with your chosen family.

And it would've been sweet

If it could've been me."

Alex started to tear up a bit as well. The room was silent interrupted only by your soothing voice through a speaker.

"It was you, it should've been you..." he mumbled to himself. Little did he know that all of his friends had heard him and it made their hearts ache for him. They knew how in love you both were and it hurt so badly to find out that you were no longer together. One piece of the chain that held them together was broken off.

And they had no idea what to do.

"In my defense I have none

For diggin' up the grave another time

But it would've been fun

If you would've been the one."

The song came to an end and everything was silent.

Alex was so proud of you, but there was a huge part of him that had been dying to get to the top with each other. You were the one, and to you so was he.

Chelsea and the boys waited for a few seconds as they watched their friend crack. They could feel the regret roll off of him. They could feel that there was still love there and they were so sure that you were the ones made for each other.

It was days later when a tweet popped up on your timeline that tagged you in it. You opened the app just to see that the person who tagged you was Alex. He posted his high praise for the album and pride he held for you. He said.

"We were something don't you think so? I remember throwing our pennies in the pool. I want you to know. You're still my one." You teared up as you looked at the screen. Little did he know, he's was still your one.

kiss for luck- Alex Schroeder x Reader

warnings: Fluff, kisses, kisses, kisses! Just fluff I believe that’s all!

Summary: Before investigations you and your boyfriend wished each other luck in a very sweet fashion.

The group had gotten out of the RV all of your hands full of gear that you lugged out and were getting ready to set up. It was your very first location, Brushy Mountain Penitentiary, your mind was absolutely reeling at the thought of having to spend the whole night there. It wasn’t your first time doing this kind of thing but you never spent the night alone. You had everything set up and were getting ready to go into the building. Your nerves were ramping up and you were trying to hold the camera steady in your shaky hands. You closed your eyes and took deep breaths trying to calm your nerves. 

Alex scanned the area trying to find you and when he did he walked over to you knowing all too well that you were scared. You felt someone take the camera from your hands and set it on one of the cases that held your equipment. You looked up just to see the person you needed to, your boyfriend stood in front of you with sympathetic eyes and his kind smile that you loved so much. 

“C’mere babe,” he said and pulled you into his arms letting you wrap your arms around him as tightly as you needed to. 

You took a deep breath and rested your head against his chest letting his heartbeat bring you back down. 

“Sorry Alex.” you apologized when you pulled back and looked away with embarrassment causing your cheeks to heat up. He placed his hands on your cheeks so he could see your face properly. “Don’t apologize, I know you’re scared and you shouldn’t be embarrassed about that. I think we all are. So don’t apologize, especially not to me.” he said and looked down at you with a soft smile. You relaxed a bit and let out a sigh of relief before reaching up to place your hands over his wrists. 

“I love you, Alex.” You said with a soft smile. He leaned forward and placed a kiss on your forehead. “I love you too (y/n),” he responded. He released his hold and wrapped you in another hug. You pulled away and gave him another smile before reaching down to pick up your camera, your hands were much steadier than they were before and you felt better knowing your boyfriend was with you. 

The group was getting their cameras ready, and making sure everything had fresh batteries. 

You took this time to once more set down your camera and turn toward your boyfriend. He looked down at you in confusion as you grinned up at him. “What are you doing?” he questioned curiously. You reached up and wrapped your arms around his neck tugging him down so you could place your lips on his. He quickly responds by placing his arms around your waist and pulling you closer. You hummed into the kiss and let yourself relax in his arms as your lips moved in sync. Your lips parted and you let your tongue trace along the seam of his lips, longing for that one step forward, that one step to make you feel that safe haven of intimacy you got whenever you were close to him. He responded languidly in a love-filled haze. He let your tongue map out and trace his mouth. Letting out a sigh of content at the taste of strawberry that lingered on your tongue. His tongue journeyed forward and passed your lips tenderly massaging your tongue as a small whine slipped through the kiss and it permeated the sound of his pulse raging in his ears, 

The feeling of intimacy you so desperately craved made your thoughts blur and your mind to only be filled with flashes of these moments you had with him. It made your heart flutter even with this being one of the many kisses you shared. Each time you fell deeper in love with him. 

The need for air became ever-present and so with reluctance, you pulled away from him. His lips were red and kiss swollen, and you had no doubt that yours were the same. 

The feeling of him lingered for moments after he let you go. 

“What was that for babe?” he asked breathily. “That was because I love you, and I want you to know that if we make it out alive I still will love you and forever be yours until you decide you may not want me anymore,” you informed your lover who stood before you with wide eyes. 

“And let’s just say it was for luck too.” you smiled with a short shrug. A smile broke out on his face. 

“I will never not want you. Plus I know we’ll make it so don’t ever worry about that,” he said with a glint of playfulness floating in his eyes. Pressing up on your toes you once again kissed him quickly before setting yourself flat on the ground again. 

You smiled up at him with gleaming eyes, fully trusting that he would keep you safe and you would keep him safe no matter what. 

“Where’s my good luck kiss?!” you heard Tanner call over to you. You let out a chuckle and shook your head. You lifted your hand and blew a kiss their way, Dakota jumped in front of Tanner and grabbed the invisible sign of affection before placing it in his pocket. 

“Thanks (y/n), I’ll keep it forever for every investigation!” Dakota joked. 

“They’ll be the death of me I swear.” you let out a breathy laugh. Alex looked at you with a big smile and adoration-filled eyes. Knowing that this night would be hard but ever easier with you by his side. 

And so you began.

You stood outside the last location of the road trip and you let out a sigh. You looked around at everyone and smiled. 

“Well here the fuck we finally are!” you announced and they all chuckled. “The end of the line, our last night, our very last stop.” you paused dramatically while everyone was facing you. 

“It’s not the last night of our lives… or is it?” you wiggled your brows and laughed along with the rest of the group. 

“Oh shut up.” Chelsea smacked your arm playfully. 

“Hey, I’m just saying, you never know.” you shrugged your shoulders. 

You stood in front of your boyfriend his arms wrapped around you from behind, he rested his chin on your shoulder. You turned your head slightly and kissed his cheek. You felt his skin heat up and it made you smile. Alex had set his camera down so he could hold you and make you feel safe before going in for the night. 

“Well, let’s get out our equipment and set up a gear room, then we can get started,” Dakota said. A camera was set up as all of you got to work setting up the gear room. When everything was set up all you guys had to do was change batteries and get their cameras situated. 

While they were doing that, Alex pulled you out of the building and to the side. You looked up at him in confusion but with a grin. “What might you be doing sir?” you questioned playfully. “I just wanted a minute with you…” he said softly while bruising your hair away from your face. 

Your brows furrowed a bit. “Is everything ok Alex?” you asked with concern lacing your voice. 

His hands moved to wrap his arms around you and pull you closer to him. You lifted your hands and placed them on his chest gently letting your nails scratch and trace patterns on his chest. 

“Baby, what’s wrong?” you asked once again. “I’m fine, I just wanted to be with you for a  few seconds before the ghosts steal you from me,” he said gently. 

You smile brightly at him, “I love you Alex.” you said and he leaned down to kiss your cheek. He didn’t stop there though, he kissed all of the way up your cheek and down your jaw then to your neck. He moved your hair out of the way so he could kiss your neck better. It made your heart flutter, and your knees go weak. He moved back up and stopped only centimeters from your lips. The anticipation was growing at the close proximity, and your eyes fluttered closed at the feeling of his warm breath on your cheeks. 

He leaned down finally and placed his lips on yours, letting them move in sync with one another. His tongue tangled with yours letting that closeness bring him to the ground again. You slithered your arms up and around his neck playing with his hair. He was your safe place, the one place you knew you could go to find strength and security. He was your home, and you were his. You were each other’s safety.

His hands moved down to grip your hips tightly and his hold made you sigh into the kiss. You tugged the soft tendrils that rested on the nape of his neck because you knew he loved when you did that. He pulled you closer even though it seemed impossible to be closer. Your need for air was what caused you to pull away but when you did his lips chased yours and it made you grin. Leaning in one more time you pressed a soft chaste kiss on his lips.

He opened his eyes to be met with yours shining brightly as you gazed at him. He smiled down at you, 

“We made it,” he whispered. You bit your lip while grinning at him. “Yeah we did, didn’t we?” you raised your brow. 

He nodded his head with a big smile. 

“Now I have to ask… what was that for?” you asked him. He tucked a piece of hair away from your face. 

I want to remind you that if we make it out alive one more time, that I’m going to love you for the rest of our lives.” he said and your cheeks heated up. “And I guess you could say it was for luck too.” he teased you about what you said earlier in the season. You rolled your eyes and chuckled. 

“I love you for the rest of my life and even further,” you said before wrapping your arms around him and resting your head on his chest. He kissed your head and sighed. 

You pushed up on your toes and kissed him one more time. “That was good luck for you.” you smiled sweetly at him. 

“Hey, what about us?!” Dakota called just like before. 

You rolled your eyes and gave them the finger before pulling Alex down to kiss again, just to annoy them. 

“Alright, alright we’re done now detach yourselves from each other so we can get this night done!” Tanner yelled. You giggled against Alex’s lips and he let out a small laugh also. 

 “What do you say we get in there get it done and go on home?” you asked teasingly. 

Without warning, your boyfriend leaned down and swept you off of your feet. You let out a yelp and then a loud laugh. 

“Let’s go lucky,” he said and kissed your cheek. “Lucky?” you question with a raised brow. 

“You’re my lucky charm babe,” he said and threw a smirk your way. You shook your head and let it fall back as you laughed.

Little did you know, after the end of the night. he would kneel on one knee and pull out a ring, to hold to his promise of loving you for the rest of his life. You of course said yes, and did so to hold your promise of loving him forever. 

From then on kisses for luck were never not shared before each investigation and each day.

Fear- Dakota Laden x Reader

“It’s ok Dakota, I’m ok I promise. Go see Chelsea.” You told your boyfriend. He kissed your head and walked towards his sister pulling her into a hug. You let out an unsteady breath and your hands shook in fear. Though you needed Dakota his sister did too and you didn’t want to take him from her.

Tanner noticed how scared you looked and walked over to you. He put his hand on your shoulder and you jumped a bit. “Hey, hey, you ok? C’mere,” he said and pulled you into a hug. You let him hold you for a bit with your arms wrapped loosely around his middle. Your shaking continued and his hold got tighter for a second before he decided to let go, took a step back, and gave him a small smile. “Thanks, Tanner sorry I’m shaken up a bit.” you apologized and shook your head. He shook his head, “No, it’s ok I would be too. Don’t be sorry for that, we’ve all been there.” he reassured you and squeezed your shoulder. 

Dakota looked over towards you to make sure you were ok when he saw Tanner holding you. His heart wrenched a bit at the thought of not being the one to comfort you. You sent him away, and he couldn’t help but wonder why. In the back of his mind, he knew that you thought his sister needed him more, but couldn’t help the thought that you just didn’t want him to comfort you. 

You all decided to head back to the gear room for a tiny break. On the way back you walked alongside Chels and Dakota. The walk back was pretty silent but fast-paced all of you wanting to get you and Chelsea back quickly.  

You thought over what had just happened and your hands began to shake once more, you didn’t tell any of them that something had touched you not wanting to bring much attention to yourself. You were never one to be in the spotlight too much, you were a part of the show but tended to be on the quiet side. You shut your eyes tightly for a second and let out a shaky breath remembering standing in a room on your own, the feeling of someone or something watching you. You asked a question wanting to know who was in the room with you. And it didn’t go as expected.   Then loud footsteps were heard coming towards you and Chels that’s when you both let out screams and the boys came running.

You and Chelsea were sent up to the third floor together because it was known that the entity who loomed there touched and targeted women. You looked at the boys like they were crazy when Dakota suggested you and Chelsea go up there alone. You threw your boyfriend a glare as you turned to walk onto the third floor with Chels. “I hate you Dakota!” you called over your shoulder. “I love you too (y/n)!” he called back. You and Chelsea looked at each other and rolled your eyes, “These guys are gonna kill us one day. I swear.” she let out a breath and shook her head. 

You walk further down the hall, “Hey Chels, stay here for a minute I’m gonna check out room 303 ok?” you said. She looked at you with furrowed brows. “What, alone?” she questioned quickly. 

“Yeah, alone. I’ll be ok I just wanna test something. I’ll be quick.” you explained to your best friend. She looked at you wearily, “I’ll do a digital recorder session out here. If something happens come get me, and we’ll leave.” she said. “Ok, call me if you need me. I’ll be quick,” you said before wandering down the hallway to room 303. 

You took a breath before walking into the room. “So this is room 303, it is said that this is where a woman took her own life. People have said that there is an entity in here that suppresses her from communicating with anyone who tries. I’m gonna try and talk to her now.” 

You sat down on the bed that was still there and pulled out the ovilus. “So I heard that there is a woman here that took her own life in this room. They said your name is Annie Paige, is there anything you would like to say?” you question. Your heart rate picked up a bit at the feeling of someone or something watching you. You let the question sit for a few seconds and when you were about to ask another question the Ovilus goes off. 

You jump at the sudden sound that emitted from the device in your hand. “Careful.” your eyes widened “What do you mean? Are you telling me to be careful? Why should I be carefu-” you were cut off by the ovilus going off one more time. “It.” you jumped to your feet in fear ready to run from the room if necessary. 

The room grew colder, and you felt tears come to your eyes. You felt cornered and you didn’t know what to do. All of a sudden you felt a presence behind you and a strong pull on your hair almost bringing you to the floor. You didn’t even know how to respond no noise even escaped you, you were scared enough that you couldn’t let out a sound. You didn’t want to alert Chelsea and scare her even more, and so you kept quiet about what happened as you quickly exited the room. You luckily didn’t drop your camera from your shaking hands when “It”  pulled your hair. 

You made your way towards Chelsea, to see she was standing up from her position on the floor. 

“Did you get anything on the digital recorder?” you asked as calmly as you could. 

“No, I didn’t. Did you?”  she responded. 

“Um, no not really, just an eerie feeling,” you said, not wanting to alarm her more than she already was up there. 

Just as she opened her mouth to speak the sound of rushing footsteps coming towards you. Both of you let out screams and almost ran into each other as you backed away from the noise. 

That’s when you heard the boys running up the stairs towards you and Chels.

Dakota turned to look at you after he heard you let out a shaky breath and his eyebrows furrowed a bit. His hand brushed yours and it made you flinch, he had seen you scared before but never like this. His worry began to build when you sent him a tight-lipped smile. 

You got back to the gear room, and you and Chelsea were getting asked questions on what had happened. 

“What happened up there?” Alex asked. “Me and (y/n) decided to separate. She went to 303, and I stayed back to do a digital recorder session and when she came back into the hall we heard footsteps running towards us,” Chelsea explained. “It was so loud, I swear it sounded like an actual person running at us,” you said deciding not to tell everyone just yet. 

Your cameras were all set down for a second, and when you had a moment without being filmed you quickly walked towards your boyfriend. Tears began to form in your eyes and a lump in your throat grew. Dakota was changing the battery in his camera when he felt a tug on his jacket. He turned around quickly and saw you standing in front of him with teary eyes. His eyes widened, and he placed his hands on your cheeks. “(y/n), what’s wrong are you ok?” he questioned hastily. 

Concern laced his words as he saw your lip trembling and fear-filled eyes. 

“ I know I shouldn’t be like this. I know I should be able to handle this but I’m scared. I’m sorry but I’m scared Dakota.” you cried. Small hints of embarrassment dripped from your words, but you knew Dakota wouldn’t judge you.

His eyebrows knitted together, and he grabbed your hands and pulled you away from the group so you could speak in private. 

“Babe, what happened? Are you hurt?” he asked as you clenched his jacket in your fists while his hands placed themselves on your cheeks once again. 

You let tears fall down your face and tried to form proper words. 

“Something happened up there… I’m so scared Dakota. I don’t- I don’t want to go back there. I know I shouldn’t be this scared but I really am.” he kissed your head and pulled you close. He could feel you shaking and his heart wrenched at the feeling. 

You could hear his voice softly ask you the question you were scared to answer. You didn’t want to relive it but you knew he needed to know what was going on. 

“Can you tell me what happened up there?” he asked while pushing you away slightly, so he could see your face. One hand was on the back of your head gently playing with your hair, and his other rested securely on your waist. Your eyes were glassy, and your breath was unsteady. 

“I was- I was in room 303. I wanted to see if I could communicate with Annie. I asked her if there was anything she would like to say.” you shut your eyes tightly and reached up to harshly wipe tears from your eyes. Your body involuntarily shook and you let out a small cry. Dakota quickly reached for your hands and shushed you trying to give you some sort of comfort. “It’s ok (y/n), I’ve got you. You’re safe, just take your time.” he squeezed your hands in his. 

You lifted both yours and his hands towards your chest, holding them tightly over your heart as if trying to calm it. 

“The first word from the Ovilus I got was ‘careful’.” you stopped to breathe. He looked at you intently trying not to show the worry that was rushing through him. “I went to ask why I should be ‘careful’ It cut me off… the only word that was said was ‘It’.  The room got so much colder Dakota. I felt cornered I felt trapped and…” you looked towards the ground as you choked on your words. His eyes widened in fear. He had no idea what to do, he was scared of what you were going to say. It was obvious that your story wasn’t over. His breath caught in his throat. 

“Babe, did it hurt you?” he asked in the sternest yet gentle tone. “I- I felt something behind me. It felt so dark, it was heavy, I felt like I couldn’t breathe. Out of- out of nowhere something reached up and grabbed my hair.” you felt Dakota loosen his grip on your hands, and he went to pull them away. Quickly your hands shot out to grab him once again, but he caught your wrists. You looked up at him with wide eyes. He let his hands move your arms to your sides, so he could place his hands on your waist and snake his arms around your waist. You let out a heavy sigh of relief and relaxed in his grip. “It grabbed my hair and pulled it. It pulled so hard I swear I was gonna hit the floor. I was so scared I could barely get a sound out, all I could do was get out of that room. I was so scared, I didn’t say anything. I didn’t want to scare Chelsea even more than she was. I’m sorry I didn’t say something, I just I didn’t know- I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t want to scare anyone. I’m sorry Dakota.” you thoroughly apologized, as you told your boyfriend what happened. 

He pulled you close and held you tightly to him trying to calm you and himself. He had no idea what to do to help you. He didn’t want you or Chels to go back up there alone. There was no way he was going to let you sleep alone up there. Hell, he didn’t want you to sleep alone period. 

You clung tightly to him and buried your face in his neck trying to calm your nerves by feeling his skin against your still trembling lips. He felt your lips on his neck and sighed at the feeling of you in his arms. 

“You have nothing to be sorry for Babe. It’s ok, you and Chels are not going back up there.” he pulled you away from him and pushed your hair away from your tear-stained face. 

“You aren’t mad at me?” you asked with shiny eyes. He looked at you in surprise at your words. “I could never be mad at you for that. I understand ok, but why didn’t you let me comfort you up there?” he asked with sincerity. “She’s your sister, and she was scared, and she needed you. I didn’t want to seem selfish,” you explained to him shyly. He looked at you sadly. 

“You needed me too, especially after that. She would’ve understood, you wouldn’t have seemed selfish at all. Don’t think that way, I’m here for both of you. You’re both too important to me to let you be on your own. I would drop anything to be there for you.” he said and cupped your cheeks. He leaned down and rested his forehead against yours. “Anything.” he breathed out. You wrapped your hands around his forearms tilted your head so you could kiss him. 

His lips were warm against yours and his thumbs stroked your cheeks. You could feel the soft tendrils of his hair brushing your forehead, all of these feelings were grounding you. He grounded you, he brought you back from the precipice of your breaking point. 

He pulled away and looked at your face. Your eyes were closed still, and he could tell you were beginning to calm down. 

You opened your eyes and were met with your boyfriend’s bright, reassuring smile. 

You smiled back lightly. 

“Are you ready to go tell the rest of them?” he asked you. You looked at him with unsure eyes, scared that they may think of you as weak. Despite the fact that you knew they would never think that of you seeing as they have all had their own experiences. You knew they wouldn’t judge you. 

“I’ll be right there.” he tried to encourage you. You looked at him and nodded before reaching to grasp his hand. 

“Ok. I’m ready.” he kissed your head and you walked back to the others. 

They heard your footsteps and turned to face you all. Dakota gave them a look that told them to not let you know that they noticed you breaking down to him; to not mention your absence.

They all got the message. 

You looked at all of them with nerves running through you, you squeezed his hand and took a deep breath before explaining what had happened to you. 

They all looked at you with wide eyes, wondering why you kept that from them. 

“C’mere,” Chelsea said and held out her arms. You walked towards her and wrapped her in a hug. “It’s ok to be scared, you have such a valid reason to be. I’m glad you told us, we won’t go back up there. You or me.” Chelsea assures you. You nodded and smiled shyly at her, “Thank you. All of you for being here for me. I’m so lucky to have friends who have each other’s backs. I love you guys.” you told them before going around and hugging them all. 

You all let fate decide your sleeping arrangements, and neither you nor Chelsea got the 3rd floor which was a huge relief. Even though you knew if you did draw it you would draw again. You let yourself accept the fact that you wouldn’t be sleeping alone tonight. You were actually glad that Dakota would be in the same room as you. 

You all settled in your sleeping arrangements, you were sitting on the cot opposite Dakota. He got up and pressed a kiss to your head and sat back down with his hand in yours. Throughout the rest of the night, things went as they usually did. Noises were made and screams were heard from each of you. When the sun came up you were sitting nestled into Dakota’s side searching for comfort in his presence. 

He kept you safe all night long, and you did the same for him. 

You got through the night and after that swore you would never go back, but knowing you had the people you loved by your side made it all bearable and worth it. 

When the cameras turned off you all stepped into the RV. You curled up next to Dakota on the small couch. 

“Thank you, Kota.” you thanked your boyfriend. He looked down at you and leaned down to press a kiss to your lips. Reminding you that he would always be there for you. By your side as you made your way to overcome your fear.
