Sounds of the World

The greatest bands and artists have their sound. It’s the sound you hear and you say, “Oh I know this guy/girl/group.” That perception of certain acoustic vibrations is a wonderful experience, and it all started somewhere. However a band or artist obtains their sound is all a matter of influence and where they grasp their inspiration. This creative kickstart can come from anywhere and everywhere.

For me, the Middle East and Asia are big inspirations for me. The way their scales and progressions flow together just drives a natural force inside me. The sound of those regions even goes into the mixing and mastering portions of the music. Engineers of these areas have a way of blending the different instruments together to create a full spectrum and vibrant sound. The subtleties of the engineers work plays an important role in creating a sound different than that of the western world. This work inspires me to shape my mixes in an unfamiliar way which creates a larger sound with more clarity.
