Everyone keeps putting down the police lately. I just want you to think for a minute about what doing their job means. It means putting your life on the line every day with the threat of catching a bullet because of the color of your shirt. It means serving the public even though the bad mouth you, call you racist, swear you up and down, and call for your head on a pike. It means not knowing what could happen in the next 3 seconds. Every call has the potential to be your last. Now imagine being a white cop who works in a predominantly black neighborhood. Who will be singled out because of the color of his or her skin. Automatically labeled a racist, mean, and unforgiving. Finally, imagine you are injured, imagine someone has broke into your home while you were at work but your 14 year old daughter was home from school. Imagine that no one would be there for her. Imagine the fear she has, imagine the suffering she could go through. Because that's what happens when you turn your back on the one force that consistently goes up against evil on a daily basis and doesn't ask for anything in return. That's what being a cop means. Living to fight another day.
