la vie en rose // zackelle
It was morning time when the sunlight from zack’s curtains decided to shine on him. he slowly fluttered his eyes open, a faint sound of music making its way to his ears. the man didn’t remember having any tunes on when him and noelle had went to bed the night before. he smiled slightly at the thought of his girlfriend, and turned over to look at her. but she wasn’t there. a slight panic jolted through his heart, but he had to stay calm and trust that she hadn’t left for good.
Stretching his arms and legs out, he blinked the tiredness from his eyes and listened closer to the sounds he heard. guitar, and a familiar voice. was that. . . lisbon s i n g i n g? and was she using his ukelele?
Breathing in order to calm the shock he felt when he hadn’t seen the redhead in bed, he slowly shifted to stand on his exhausted legs. he was shirtless, but had some pajama pants on. they were long enough into their relationship for him to feel comfortable with his tattoos and body in general around her.
Shuffling out into the hallway, he followed the sound of her beautiful voice. what a keeper, he thought to himself, as he peeked into the living room to watch her in all her g o r g e o u s n e s s. extremely quietly, though, so as not to be known quite yet.
starlight ✨ zackelle
“Okay… okay–” she opened her mouth to say more but she didn’t know what to say. the situation was foreign ground and she was treading carefully on the new terrain.
Feeling more confident in her words she pulled zack closer, her hands intertwining into his. “Don’t believe a word she said… okay? she acts like she loved olivia but the truth is she kicked me out for almost a week when she found out i had a girlfriend.” realizing she was walking on thin ice, noelle shook her head and looked down. fuck. “god, i’m such a fuck up. i’m trying to help you and then i talk about olivia, which literally doesn’t help at all–” she stopped herself, feeling like a complete i d i o t once again. “sorry, i ramble when im nervous, or sad, or angry…” the girl trailed off, realizing she was lengthening her sentences again.
Zack clenched his jaw.
Looking down at their hands, he watched how they were perfectly intertwined. as if they were made to be together. while noelle spoke, he just stared down at them. some of her rambling was registered, some of it went in one ear and came out the other. when she called herself a fuck up, he squeezed her hands lovingly, “babe—” his voice was soft, but extremely quiet, so he repeated the call: “babe, it’s really okay. you’re trying your best and that’s. . . all that matters.” he breathed, olivia’s name still dwelling in his mind, floating around like the doubtful reason to be sad it was.
The man looked up to catch sight of his girlfriend, and tilted his head at how d i s t r a u g h t she looked. as if her thoughts were flying all over her head, some spilling out into the open, others crashing around inside her skull. if anyone knew what that felt like, it was frey.
He stepped closer so that their bodies were almost pressed together.
“Breathe for me.”

When they arrived back and zack’s place, noelle handled him carefully and she led him out of the car. “thank you, george. tell nan i said hi.” she replied softly, smiling at him.
Noelle led him up the stairs and into his apartment, stopping before the door to fish the keys out of his pocket for him. when they were in the safety and comfort of the loft, noelle turned to zack. “i’m sorry i dragged you into this… all of this money and glitz is not your style, and i knew that, and i’m selfish because i just didn’t want to be alone. i knew she could have been there– but i went anyways, and i feel like such an idiot, and i’m sorry, this is all my fault–” noelle’s thoughts raced too fast to get them out of her mind and she felt herself start to panic like zack had done beforehand.
The car ride was helpful. it gave zack the time to close his eyes and get his thoughts into order. cuddle against noelle. convince himself that she was real and her comfort was true. but also that his attack had been real and he would have to explain sooner or later.
When they got into his apartment, the girl who hadn’t spoken much on the way there e x p l o d e d into apologies of her own. and zack had thought h e was the one who had a lot to say. “woah, slow down—” he reached out in an attempt to place his hands on her shoulders, but quickly pulled back, not wanting to do anything wrong. “it’s not your fault, babe. nobody wants to be alone. i thought i was happy going— i really did. . .” having to calm his girlfriend down would be a challenge, he realized. there were billions of ways he could take this. would explaining to her help? he didn’t know the beginning how to put his feelings into words. physical affection? not until she gave some consent. he was so eager that he was ready to ask the other for her shoes so that he could literally try them on himself.
starlight ✨ zackelle
After picking up his suit jacket off the floor of the bathroom, noelle locked eyes with zack and gave him the most reassuring glance she could. she couldn’t imagine how he was feeling but tried her best to fit into his shoes.
you never truly know a person until you climb into their skin and walk around in it
Noelle grabbed his hand tight, unlocking the opening the door releasing the noise and hustle of the room. she shimmied through veins of people, making sure to keep zack close. once they were in the clear and in sight of the car she felt like she could finally breathe. she didn’t blame zack for panicking and wasn’t mad, but her breathing was just as bad as zack’s throughout that moment.
She opened the car door for zack and helped him in. his body was still weak. when she sat down, she pulled him in close, not wanting to ever let go.
Zack kept his gaze low once they joined the crowds of people outside of the washroom. he focused on his breathing, trying to forget the ruckus around them. his thoughts s c r e a m e d at him to just stop thinking about what had gone down, and where they were, but it was impossible to forget anything when he didn’t have his keyboard or wasn’t distracted by a movie of some sort. it was childish, especially if said out loud, but he usually wasn’t able to calm down completely until he was stepping out of his own shoes and into someone’s else through sound or visuals. maybe once he was alone with noelle, it would help better. he didn’t know.
When they got outside, he breathed in the fresh air. he felt his lungs opening up again, but he was still trembling.
Quietly, he slipped into the car with the help of noelle, who had switched the roles for his sake. he found himself burying his head into her bare shoulder, closing his eyes tight so as to not let any of his tears fall. “i’m sorry. . .” he whispered again, even though she had already assured him that it was okay. if they had been in private, he would have bee sobbing and repeating his apology over and over. but for the sake of her reputation, he was clearly holding himself back.
starlight ✨ zackelle
“Don’t be sorry, babe. it’s okay.” noelle took his step forward as a signal he needed affection. she brushed her hand over his face and through his hair, trying her best to calm him down. she felt like it was all her fault. noelle had known it was a possibility for her mother to be there, she just didn’t know it was that great of one.
She searched his eyes for any sign of calming down as he caught his breath. noelle pulled zack close but gently, as if he was fine china that would break at the slightest touch. she stroked his hair and pressed gentle kisses to his neck. “you’re okay… i won’t let anybody hurt you.” she purred softly into his ear.
Noelle was too busy worrying about zack that she left no room to worry about herself. she hadn’t seen her mother in months. the night brought back memories that ghosted in her mind in bright spots that left burning holes in her vision.
Taking her mind off herself and onto zack, she pulled away just enough to lock his gaze in. “we have to go back through there to get to the car, but i’m right here. it’ll be fast, promise.”
Zack didn’t feel selfish quite yet. once the attack subsided, he knew he would feel extremely bad. this was supposed to be noelle’s event and it had backfired on her, not him. he should have been the one to comfort her in her time of need, but he wasn’t in the right mind state to be criticizing himself just yet. noelle’s touch did soothe him, and he melted into her embrace. unlike her, he had never been with anyone in his life, so he wasn’t sure if physical affection was something that could calm him down during one of his attacks. but now, he knew.
She was his rock.
Weakly, he returned the hug, holding her close for a moment and completely believing in her words.
The mention of leaving the bathroom made him tense all over again. he breathed, trying not to get worked up and instead, put his trust in his girlfriend. looking into her beautiful blue hues with his brown, glazed ones, he nodded slowly, and took another deep breath. moving back slightly, he took her hand into his and squeezed it gently.
“Okay. . .” he agreed, and went to the door with her, bracing himself for the noise and chaos that would be on the other end.

olivia’s heart thudded in her chest, each beat threatening to jump out of her body. the boyfriend of someone she loved was standing in her apartment, and once she spoke what she needed to say, he could possibly kill her.
all she had to do was stay calm, speak calm, and keep him away from any possible knifes. that’ll do just fine.
“come along, this way!” olivia chirped, guiding him to the living room. she sat down first on the worn down, leather couch, making a creaking noise as her weight settled. most of her furniture was like this. with all the bills and rent that she had to pay, olivia could only settle for hand-me-down furniture and anything salvageable from the dumpster. but hey, olivia was pretty proud. her apartment looked cozy, as if an old lady threw up everywhere and just left it all up. elderly interior design at it’s finest.
“you can have some water, if you’d like. but by all means, if you’d like anything else, i have cranberry juice, milk, and some beers in the fridge, if you’re interested.” olivia fidgeted with her sleeves, never looking up at him once. she really didn’t want to start on with the conversation, but then what would be the point of him coming over here? it’s just once olivia started talking, she wouldn’t know when to stop. she didn’t know how much would be too much for zack to hear.
she didn’t know much about him, but she knew a few facts due to her working with noelle. he was an amazing boyfriend, apparently the best kisser, and he had his temper. it didn’t seem like he was raised in a flourished household like noelle and olivia did. noelle was wealthy, and olivia grew up with a tight knit family, who flourished her with loving culture and a caring nature. if there was anything the three of them had in common, it was that they had scars which could have been prevented, but weren’t.
it wasn’t that olivia wanted noelle back in her life, actually, she wanted the opposite. it was nice having noelle as her friend and all, but it wasn’t working out so well. whenever noelle stood too close, olivia would catch herself glancing at her lips rather than her eyes. whenever olivia’s fingers slightly brushed past noelle’s, her stomach would flip somersaults. and as olivia took her lunch break, she would watch as noelle worked, wondering what it would be like if she took her to the backroom, and just kissed and giggled for hours, like old times. olivia didn’t want that anymore, but her heart was ignoring her brain. she was tired of going to sleep every night, feeling her chest drain her head feel heavy, scared of being alone. noelle was the only person who made her feel completely whole, but now she was gone, and olivia didn’t really know how to put herself back together. even after two other relationships, they didn’t make her feel as complete as noelle did.
“so, i called you here because i need to talk to you about noelle.” olivia gulped, swallowing down any remaining anxiety that had surfaced. she stared straight into zack’s eyes, wanting to act powerful, but in fact, she felt very small and too weak, she could drop at any moment. the water glass shook in her hand, and a few drops spilled down the sides. “i really appreciate you, zack. i really do. she was my best friend when we were younger, and i never thought i would get to see her happy again. actually, when we broke up, i thought i would never see her again, but hey —–what a surprise. i’m glad that you’re treating her as she deserves to be treated. i just —–i need your help with something, and you’re the only person who deserves to know and the only one who can help me. no one will tell me the right advice except for you, i trust you, for some odd, eye boggling reason. i’m just really scared to ask.”
zack found himself following olivia inside, and trailing his eyes over as much parts of the interior of the apartment as he could during the travel time from the door to the old couch. in a way, he appreciated how things were lined up. it was as if the girl took trips to the thrift store for a living, and refused to shop anywhere else. probably because of financial issues, but he could only imagine different situations to go with a girl like her. that was because he was a writer, and he spent most of his time analyzing character traits and putting himself in other people’s shoes.
the way she was peppy, but not enough to make him want to be in her presence spoke wonders to him. it was actually the point he realized the reason she wanted to talk to him was probably about something serious that he wouldn’t want to speak about at all. or maybe that was just his mind trying to convince him his life was similar to that ‘ lie to me ’ series he had watched not too long ago.
the point was, the walls were old, and so was the furniture and light sources. everything was old opposed to new and he knew it would grow on him. especially since he was such a low class fellow, completely unlike his girlfriend. noelle had grown up with riches, and practically everything anyone had ever wanted, other than her family life. zack had grown up with clothes on his back and that was all he ever had, or needed for that matter.
the man sat down on the couch carefully, but it still made a noise. he decided to ignore it, though.
when he looked up, he realized that the girl in front of him was really nervous. at first, he thought that maybe it was because he was intimidating, which probably was one of the reasons, but not the main one. just as his mind was starting to make up all these weird possibilities of what kind of person she was, why she was fidgeting in front of him, and what she wanted to talk about, she spoke up. about water. that was when he realized how dry his throat was. lips curved up into a small, thankful smile as frey reached over to pour himself some water. with a surprisingly calm grip, he lifted the cup to his lips as sipped at it. this was probably because he felt he had the upper hand. plus, there was no crowd to make him anxious in the apartment. just him and olivia. which made things more civilized.
it wasn’t until the girl in front of him mentioned lisbon that he paused with the rim of the cup still to his lips. his eyes met her’s for a brief moment. he felt as if she was staring into his soul, but knew he was probably just being dramatic. both their demeanors seemed to suffer then.
what was she trying to do? make sure he was listening? she probably didn’t realize that zack was one of those people who always listened, so even if her voice got sidetracked into a mumble, he would still be able to hear her.
slowly, he ripped his gaze away from her’s, and put his cup down on the table. “i don’t want any trouble. . .” he finally said after she was finished speaking, “. . . if you need advice, i can try my best. just don’t turn into a ghost from her past trying to jump out at me, okay?” his voice was steady, but only because he was trying not to freak her out.
attentive was what zack was. and he could see the way her hands were shaking— the way it caused small water droplets to drip down the sides of her cup.
the last thing he wanted was a fight.
“I told you, Zack – I just didn’t pay attention! So excuse me for not being a Marvel expert and also not knowing that Captain America’s real name is Steve. Wanna make fun of me some more?”
‘ you’re making it so easy, n i c o l e! . . . hey, hey. i’m only joking around. not everyone is a marvel expert like moi. didn’t mean to make it seem like i was targeting you s p e c i f i c a l l y, or anything. truce? ’
starlight ✨ zackelle
As zack started to panic, so did she. noelle tried to hide it as much as she could, knowing that if he knew she was freaking out as muc has he was it would only make it worse. she knew what was happening and she wished zack had told her before she subjected him to being in a room teeming with people.
Forgetting about being polite, noelle pushed through people occasionally muttering a ‘sorry’ or ‘excuse me’ but it was rare. she was focused on getting zack out of there and calming him down. her options seemed limited in the moment because she guessed the car would be too tight a fit if he felt like he was being suffocated. the other rooms weren’t an option because people were filling up every square foot of the place.
After she had finished going over every possible option, she went with instinct and pulled him into the ladies washroom and locking the door behind her. she made sure no one was in here for his sake. noelle turned to zack, not touching him because she had never been in a situation like this.
“Are you okay?”
Zack allowed noelle to lead the way through the banquet, looking down at their feet moving as they rushed.
There was something blocking any oxygen from getting to his lungs. a part of him figured it was because there were so many people around that they were hogging all the air. that was irrational, but he was too off track to tell himself so.
When his girlfriend pulled him into what was none other than the women’s bathroom, he couldn’t help but furrow his eyebrows. it was a miracle that nobody was in there.
Once the door closed, the music muffled, and he sucked in a deep breath as if he had been underwater. he turned away from her while she locked it, and faced the mirror, looking down into the sink.
It was so hot. he shoved his suit jacket off of him and held it t i g h t l y, then rubbed over his sweaty face with his free hand. looking into the mirror, he realized how much he was trembling, and that his eyes were glazed over. for some reason he could still hear kathy’s voice in the back of his mind, and thought maybe noelle would know what that felt like. he ran a hand through his hair, gently tugging at the back of it in an attempt to stop thinking all together. swallowed hard. held onto on side of the sink, probably wrinkling his suit. but he wasn’t worried about that.
He was panicking.
Turning back to his girlfriend, he shook his head. “i’m sorry. . . i didn’t. . . i’m just—” he subconsciously stepped closer to her, dropping his stray article of clothing on the floor in the process. trying to catch his breath.
starlight ✨ zackelle
Noelle stared straight at her mother, not showing any emotion. she learned over the years her mother frankly didn’t care how she felt, so there was no use. she looked over to zack with the most apologetic look she could before turning back to her mother, the words she was about to say filling up her mouth with poison.
“Yeah… i could do better. like dad, huh?”
She saw her mother’s face turn more upside down into a scowl, which noelle didn’t think possible. the state of her face was already so twisted. before speaking again, noelle smirked. “fuck off, honestly.”
Noelle turned back to zack without seeing her mother’s reaction and whispered into his ear. “lets get out of here, yeah?”
Getting out of there right then sounded like the best idea since eating oranges to zack. he didn’t even l o o k at her mother anymore, although he was beaming on the inside that noelle had stood up for him like that, and was willing to leave. she was a keeper. he squeezed his girlfriend’s hand gently, and turned the tables, leading h e r away from her mother instead of the other way around. his eyes caught sight of all the men in fancy suits and women in nice dresses as he pushed through what felt like crowds after crowds of people as politely as he could.
Throat dry, eyes f r a n t i c.
He sort of forgot he was dragging the red head behind him.
His heart beat was loud, b o o m i n g in his ears, blocking out any of the fancy music playing.
Unlike seconds ago, his anger was s l i p p i n g away and being replaced with sudden panic.
There were too many people there, and since the most famous figure out of all of them practically hated him, he thought everyone else did too. he could practically hear the people whisper about him behind his back— could see the looks they were giving him.
Pausing in his tracks, he realized he didn’t know where he was going, and turned to noelle, letting go of her hand abruptly. “babe—” but he couldn’t speak. his lungs had run out of air.
In reality, nobody was really paying attention to them, and if they were, they were looking at lisbon, not frey.
Were the walls closing in on them or was it just him?
starlight ✨ zackelle
When zack spoke she squeezed his hand as if to signal him to stop. the less conversation the better, but he kept on anyways. he was polite for his own good. kathy looked over to zack, studying his entire b e i n g and looking into his soul with her navy blue eyes. she shook his hand like it was dirty and gave noelle a look. it wasn’t just any look. it was the prepare because im going to be judgmental look. she leaned closer into noelle, whispering into her ear. it was less of a pianissimo and more of a forte in noelle’s mind as the poisonous words slipped out of her mouth. “you could do better.” she was sure zack could hear it.
Retracting from noelle, she painted on a confused look. “what ever happened to that olivia? she was very pretty, i haven’t seen her in a while.”
Noelle flushed with embarrassment and she swore there was steam coming out of her ears. her mother knew, yet she did it anyways.
Classic kathleen lisbon.
Zack quietly sucked in a breath through his nose.
He looked at his hand. it was clean. he, of all people, kept himself clean 24/7. but noelle’s mom obviously didn’t care. his gaze lifted to look at her again and he dropped his hand back to his side, lips tight and gaze d e a d. he listened to her, watched the way she rudely spoke about him in front of his face, and then mentioned what he thought was one of noelle’s former lovers. his jaw tightened at the lack of respect and he resisted every urge to hurt this woman, who stood before them like she was any better than a loyal, middle class man by being a snobby, higher class lady, if frey could even call her that.
The man looked to noelle. big mistake. he didn’t want her to see how internally angry he was. so he acted like he wasn’t paying attention, and looked around at the fanciness going on around them. there were servers, and shiny lights. the walls were painted the purist white there was, yet held one of the meanest, insensible people he knew.
Unlike before, the guy wanted to mingle just to get away from kathy. he was actually considering it. . .
@zackfrey
“Look, I much rather not talk about this, okay? It was a stupid mistake on my part and I rather you just shut up about it.”
‘ i didn’t w a n t to get you worked up, it’s just kind of funny. . . i mean, it’s stated several times that the winter soldier is bucky barnes throughout the entirety of the movies. how could you have missed it? ’
starlight ✨ zackelle
“It is… it’s my mom.” the words stumbled past her lips. noelle had thought she would be in the clear, but she guessed wrong. her mother and her father were supposed to be in san francisco visiting her mother’s sister. she hoped her father was there without kathy. her hands were shaking as she searched the room for the tall figure but saw him nowhere. her body relaxed slightly, knowing he wasn’t there. but the problem of her mother still rose.
Zack’s touch only managed to soothe her so much. the uneasiness branched from her head down to her feet and she felt light headed as her mother stepped off the stage when the presentation was done. her eyes never seemed to leave noelle but they seemed a drop warmer than before because of the facade of a smile she had on her face.
Kathy seemed to float as she walked towards them. she stopped abruptly before noelle, eyeing zack out of the corner of her vision. she raised a hand and caressed noelle’s hair. she stood stoic as her mother spoke. “noellie–” her mother’s voice sounded sultry but stern.
Picking up her mother’s hand and swatting it away like it was a fly, noelle scowled. “i’m not five, mother.” the girl said in a tone that zack had never heard before. it was straight and emotionless.
Something about this whole situation gave Zack a weird feeling in his stomach. just the fact that he was outside his usual comfort zone had been enough to make him nervous, but noelle’s mom arising and the way her knees were shaking beside him just added to the pressure. despite all that internal struggle, the man stood close to his girlfriend and kept his hand in her’s, watching over her expression worriedly. one of his shoulders was standing higher than the other because he was so focused on her and only her. that didn’t change until he noticed the mother figure stop abruptly in front of her daughter. she had scared him, but he chose to keep a classy composure— well, as classy as it got when it came to zack frey.
The tone that came from lisbon was enough to make him raise his eyebrows, but he tried to keep his awe as subtle as possible.
Clearing his throat suddenly in an attempt to get kathy’s attention off of her daughter, he spoke sheepishly. “hi,” he held his hand out in a friendly manner. “i’m zack.”
To avoid her gaze, he looked between the two women, trying to think of something else to say now that he had the spotlight. he decided to carefully add: “it’s nice to meet you.”
starlight ✨ zackelle
The car ride was quiet but not uncomfortable. she saw zack eyeing everything he could, soaking up the moment. she knew that her old lifestyle wasn’t his cup of tea but she could tell pretty, shiny things were. that’s how everyone felt.
They arrived at the venue fashionably late, getting out of the car and thanking the driver (whose name was George, noelle had found out). noelle led zack into the gallery, as she was leading him everywhere. they took a spot in the back while a man who looked too old for his age talked into a small microphone. noelle took two flutes of champagne off a table, handing one to zack. she realized how bourgeois this must have all seemed to him. it made her want to laugh but the room was so silent it would have been absurd.
They arrived fashionably late, but apparently not late enough to miss the part that stopped noelle in her tracks and made her choke on the alcohol.
“— And, we’d like to give a big thanks to the person who helped fund this event, Kathy Lisbon!”
Noelle imagined her breaths would have been shorter if she could even breathe at all. her dress felt like it was choking her and she felt uncomfortably hot all of a sudden, because there she was. the dream, kathleen lisbon; the i n f a m o u s. she was more of a star than noelle. short red hair put into finger waves, striking features and an emerald green dress. but what noelle noticed the most was their blue eyes matching up, her mother’s seeming more fierce than warm.
“I’m going to need more alcohol, zack.”
When they got there, zack quietly thanked the driver with noelle, and stepped out of the vehicle. he held onto her hand to help her out, like a real gentleman. just because he had never experienced a lifestyle like this didn’t mean he didn’t have proper etiquette. plus, film knowledge did help more than he realized.
He allowed his girlfriend to carry him through halls and rooms, until they stopped where they were supposed to be. the place was so rich, he could smell the fortune off of everyone around him. he probably smelled like lower class and c h e a p cologne to them.
Politely, he took the champagne lisbon had offered him, and sipped on it so as not to be rude.
Making the connection was not easy. it was a minute or two into the uneasiness radiating off of the girl beside him that he realized the women had the same last name, and they must have been related.
“What?” he asked quietly, looking to the redhead with raised eyebrows. “wait, what’s the connection? she’s not your mom, is she?” frey glanced up at the stage to the woman, who was strikingly precise and stunning for her probable age. the blue eyes, which he recognized even from how far away they were standing, were what made him realize. those were noelle’s hues. but they seemed d a r k e r.
If he thought her angry gaze had burned through his pupils before. . . well, let’s just say he would rather have to face her’s than her mother’s.
Reaching over to take noelle’s hand into his, he rubbed his thumb soothingly over the back of it. not knowing what to do, he thought the first step would be to try and calm her down because she looked like she was having a hard time balancing herself on those heels all of a sudden.
starlight ✨ zackelle
When the door opened and the compliment stumbled past zack’s lips, noelle couldn’t help the giggle and the bright smile that lit up her face. “oh this?” she looked down, “this is nothing, you know.” she said in a honeyed voice.
she noticed the tie hanging limp around his neck and his scattered demeanor. although looking bewildered, he still looked amazing. he had shaven and wore a navy blue suit and his hair looked nice. he looked polished besides the fact his tie was untied.
Noelle stepped into his apartment, closing the door behind her. “you need help, huh?” a laugh escaped her lips, knowing the answer to the question. she stepped closer to him, doing the moves almost robotically as noelle hadn’t had to use that skill in a while. she patted his chest and smoothed out his shirt, smiling up at him. “there you go.”
Taking a better look at zack, her smile only grew, if that was even possible. noelle couldn’t believe he was hers. she loved that he wore a blue suit mostly because it would be considered somewhat improper. noelle was always one to jack the system.
“We have to go or we’ll be late, baby.” noelle gave him a quick kiss, leading him out the door, down to the lobby, and out the door where the man and equally handsome bentley were waiting.
Zack practically beamed when noelle stepped inside to help him. he watched her do his tie, trying to memorize the steps but losing track after the first few seconds. instead, he gazed at her in all her w o n d r o u s glory. then he returned the short kiss, mumbling a ‘ thank you ’ against her lips.
He checked for his phone in his pocket as they walked out, and then went down to the lobby with her. the car waiting for them outside looked incredible. unlike anything zack had ever seen in his entire life. he was speechless. first noelle’s attire, and now this. it made his suit and skateboard look like dirt.
When they got into the vehicle and were seated, zack’s arms were stuffed close to his body. he was scared he would break anything he touched.
These must have been the most comfortable seats he had ever sat in. no other car beat them.
Cupholders were conveniently placed. the inside was practically shining with wealth. if this was what her ride looked like, he was having a hard time imagining what the event would look like. that just made him more nervous. so he looked over at his girlfriend and smiled slightly, knowing just the sight of her would calm him down.
