There are many reasons someone might use it/its pronouns. It might be using those pronouns as an act of reclamation. It might enjoy the specifically non-gendered feeling that it/its has, as opposed to they/them being ambiguously-gendered. Its native language might refer to everyone as what is essentially "it/its". It might just like those pronouns. If it's like me, it uses it/its because it is nonhuman and wants that acknowledged in how it's referred to. My pronouns are it/she- it for my species, she for my gender.
