what is exorsexism?

Exorsexism or exornormativity refers to discrimination against non-binary individuals, as well as against individuals with gender modalities other than cis and trans. This discrimination includes beliefs that individuals can only be male or female (in both gender and sex), and that the only two gender modalities are cis and trans. Exorsexism falls under the queerphobic umbrella.

was hanging out with my friend and she went like "wow lol I just realized I'm the only one who's not a trans man in our friend group" and I said "im nonbinary tho" and she said "well that's basically the same thing" UUUUUUGHHHHHH I'm tired boss. we're still friends but like. I still think about this a lot :/

the way people say "the girls and the kind of girls" to say "women and nonbinary people." it's icky and exorsexist in a way I don't know how to describe. they sure do love their boxes, huh

misogyny is when im doing a personality quiz for school and the "optional" question asks me if my gender is male, female, or other

Except, the option was automatically selected as male. Because of course men are the default.

This is misogyny and exorsexism, due to male being placed over female and "other" (which in itself feels quite exorsexist to me because it groups all non-binary identities into one. I also dont love schools asking for gender identity for a personality quiz of all things, but thats a different issues entirely)

I asked my mom about neopronouns and she said that they were "unimportant", "not what we should be fighting for", and "nobody will get them right anyway so what's the point?"

She also said that people who use it/its pronouns are mentally ill and should seek therapy.

just so we're very clear

the fact that SOME trans women and fems are enbyphobic and transmisandrist doesn't give ANYONE the right to misgender them, deadname them, or be otherwise transphobic/transmisogynistic.

i saw someone call a trans woman a "shemab" for holding those opinions, and that's not something we do here, folks!!! i won't tolerate that!!!

at the end of the day, trans women are our sisters and we should strive to be in community with them, as long as they show mutual respect. but name-calling and such behavior is NEVER acceptable.

hi, I'm sorry if it's cluttering your askbox but since queers are losing rights around the world, I wanted to give a warning for enben (and other queers too) in the EU.

The EU still wants to pass Chat Control 2.0 which would cause scanning *ALL* of the messages (yes, including E2E ones). This would start a massive surveillance in the EU. And no one talks about it!

It would become especially dangerous if the law changes to target minorities like queers, POC, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities that are seen as dangerous etc.

I can’t remember if I submitted this, but a while ago I was visiting my grandma. And she won’t address me by the right pronouns and terms, and I’ve gotten used to that, but when mentioning my best friend I was determined to force my grandmother to use the correct terms and pronouns. She actually did without realizing.

But then she had to go and spoil it with, “so is [friend] a boy or a girl?” I answered nonbinary, and she continued, “yes but what were they born as?” And I refused to answer because that’s personal.

And then my mom helpfully (this is sarcasm) jumped in to say, “oh, [friend] is [assigned sex at birth], and [friend’s name] is a nickname, their actual name is [not quite deadname but unpreferred name].”

I still hold a grudge over this. I don’t give a shit if my family misgenders me at this point, but I was purposefully being stubborn because my friend shouldn’t be addressed as anything other than what they are.

My ex who is a trans man. During the height of the anti trans legislation in the US told me i couldn't understand what it was like to face so much hate from the government.

Im bigender nonbinary and he always made me feel less trans then him :/

Are there any specific terms for polyamorous nonbinary people/polyamorous relationships involving nonbinary people?

I would assume diamoric would also apply to polyamorous relationships, but I just want to be sure.

(Basically... any specific [unique] terms for nonbinary polyamorous relationships or people?)

Saw a clip of a comedian he was saying "gays and lesbians are being pushed out of pride. We're being bushed out by the they thems. Theres two types of they thems, the [something rambeling basicallycalling us cdaze and fascist/authoritarian].... its not all they fhems but"

At which point I was done watching that and blocked the account. Trying to remind myself that most people dont think that way, but it's more hurtful coming from within the community, and it was so blatantly cruel.

actually, I think we saw a minecraft video abt tiktok stereotypes (?) and I could've sworn I remember one of them being called smth. I forgot what it was called but im certain the adjective used in it was something pretty negative. The clip showcasing said stereotype showed a character talking (angrily) to the camera telling the viewer(s) (or in this case the people who talk about zir) to stop using she/her on zir and instead use zir real pronouns (ze/zir) and looking back at it, it was quite rude of the uploader to present neopronoun users as nagging, annoying "women" who will verbally harass you if you didn't use the correct pronouns for hem. I hope the uploader's opinion has changed on neopronoun users now. It's been a couple years since that video came out, so something should've happened in those last few years.

honestly everything going on in the among us show fandom. Do you know how groundbreaking it is to not only have a show where EVERY CHARACTER IS NONBINARY, but a show where they don’t even like. Talk about it! It’s completely natural! Trying to say that certain characters are trans is straight up misgendering!! Aaa!!!!
