Zane Mercer || 38 || Chef / Restaurant Owner || FC: Idris Elba
↳ Born on October 4th in Matanzas, Cuba. Heterosexual.

In the center of Hollywood, life becomes similar to a carnival ride. And that’s exactly what Zane’s childhood was like. Growing up with Camden Mercer, the infamous bad boy of 1970s soap operas, was nothing but eventful. He’d rocked the world when he came out of the so-called closet in the late 70s and succinctly announced his relationship with Luis Gessati, an Italian male model. And when they announced to the world that they were adopting a child together, it made even bigger waves.
Needless to say, Camden and Luis were quite busy with their social lives. Sure, they toted baby Zane around in a stroller when the paparazzi were rampant, smiling down at the little boy and tickling his stomach in an affectionate manner. But when the cameras weren’t rolling and the people weren’t watching, Zane’s fathers were nowhere to be found. They had a tendency to put the glitz and glamour above their son, and for that reason, he grew up with a lack of strong parental figures.
Like any child left to their own devices, Zane dabbled in the partying lifestyle, using his last name to get her into raging parties filled with humping teenage celebrities and hookah bars. Tabloids loved to feature the exotic young man, questioning his standards, various flings with multiple older women and character. But he didn’t care, because to him, publicity was publicity. His dads had caused scandal after scandal in the LA scene, so why couldn’t he follow in their footsteps?
After the arrival of his eighteenth birthday, however, things began to change. Zane was officially out on his own, given a hefty sum of money and the keys to a convertible sports car. His “adult” vibes were conflicting with the mellow atmosphere that Luis and Camden liked to keep, so they decided that it was time for him to go off by herself. They had a celebratory (and very public) party to see him off, full of fake tears and sugar-free, fat-free frozen yogurt.
Sick of everything and everyone associated with the celebrity lifestyle, Zane ditched the convertible on the side of the road, leaving the keys in the ignition. He hitched a taxi ride to the airport and bought a one-way ticket to Paris. His life was quiet for two years, with his hours divided between French bakeries and tourist attractions. In his free time, he studied languages, delving into the worlds of the Italian, the French, and the Russian. He learned more about his culture, his Afro-Cuban roots, and it was really during this time that he decided that he wanted to build something of his own that showed off who he was as a person.
By the time Zane was twenty-eight, working crazy hours, pushing himself through culinary school and making sure to really stretch the money given to him by his adoptive fathers, he had enough experience to open his own restaurant. He opted to keep it in Paris, serving only organic foods and making sure that each and every detail in and around the restaurant was set up to his liking. It was his baby after all, everything that he had worked so very hard on all his own. Still, his old reputation came in handy, especially where the grand opening was concerned as many known names had come to see what the “son” of one of the most iconic gay couple’s had done. It was a success and with new found hope, Zane managed to delve even deeper into the culinary world.
Now that he is older and still incredibly successful, Zane is thinking of opening his much anticipated second location in New York. It is because of this that he has decided to leave his home in Paris every couple of weeks or so to get a feel for the city that he has never been to. Though his mind is usually on business, he isn’t one to not delve into pleasure. Many people find him to be a good time, a charming fellow if you will.

Zane is a deeply lonely person but is absolutely amazing at making it seem otherwise.
He has a fondness for smooth jazz music, as it calms him like nothing else.
Very skilled with his hands. He had a brief stint as a masseuse, plays piano very well, and can cook almost anything on command.
He’s never been married and many people often call him a womanizer still. No kids either, though he would like nothing more to have a couple.
He has a beautiful, well behaved German Shepard by the name of Noah who is his world.
He has battled with alcohol many times throughout his life.
Zane is played by Leon.
