“Isn’t it odd how much fatter a book gets when you’ve read it several times? As if something were left between the pages every time you read it. Feelings, thoughts, sounds, smells…and then, when you look at the book again many years later, you find yourself there, too, a slightly younger self, slightly different, as if the book had preserved you like a pressed flower…both strange and familiar.”
— Cornelia Funke, Inkspell
while everyone is watching eurovision and feeling very european i wanna take the opportunity to remind all EU citizens to vote in the upcoming election for the european parliament 23-26 May. everyone’s vote is needed, especially now when right wing extremist parties are expected to gain more seats in the EP.
read more about what applies to your country here. you can also find information about the political groupings that your national parties belong to in the parliament
I don’t reblog much, but this is too well said not to.
This always gets a reblog.
Tips That Can Save Your Kid’s Life.
THIS IS IMPORTANT
When I was a child, from the time I was about four and could understand things, my mom told me and my brother that we should have a secret word. That way, if we were ever in trouble or felt unsafe and we didn’t want the people around us to know we needed her to come get us, we could let her know. So she let us pick the word and my brother and I chose the phrase “peanut butter cups.” (I’m happy to share the phrase now since both my brother and I are adults now).
I used the phrase twice in my life. Once, I was at a friends house when I eight years old. Her dad got really drunk and was throwing things against the wall. I was really scared and I didn’t want to draw attention to myself on the phone when I called my mom to come get me because I didn’t know if he would get more violent if I asked her to come get me. So I called her and was calm and after a couple minutes I asked “Hey mommy, did you get me those peanut butter cups from the store?” And she said “I’ll be right there.” And she came and got me within minutes.
Second, I was a teenager spending the night at a friends house. Her brother and dad were drinking and they started talking about things that made me uncomfortable - ie: what they liked to do to women. My friend didn’t seem perturbed and said that was normal for them and that I shouldn’t worry. But I was worried because they were really drunk and I was 15 and the only ‘woman’ around that wasn’t related to them. I went in my friends room, told her I needed to call my mom and say goodnight. Before I hung up with her I asked “Next time we go to the store, can we get some peanut butters cups? I’ve been craving them.” And she came and got me, just like that.
Two incidents, one as a young child, one years later as a teen. Don’t discredit this stuff, it fucking works. My brother used it a few times too. Let your child pick the word and no never, ever, ever, ever get mad at them for using it no matter what it is.
DO NOT SCROLL PAST THAT.
Break a prop? Just put it back and walk away… ha ha!!
Emma’s reaction though
Sometimes it freaks me out how much like their characters they are. Emma’s very concerned, Dan saves the day, Rupert laughs.
I’m never not reblogging this. They’re just so damn cute…

“Years ago I learned a very cool thing about Robin Williams, and I couldn’t watch a movie of his afterward without thinking of it. I never actually booked Robin Williams for an event, but I came close enough that his office sent over his rider. For those outside of the entertainment industry, a rider lists out an artist’s specific personal and technical needs for hosting them for an event, anything from bottled water and their green room to sound and lighting requirements. You can learn a lot about a person from their rider. This is where rocks bands list their requirement for green M&Ms (which is actually a surprisingly smart thing to do). This is also where a famous environmentalist requires a large gas-guzzling private jet to fly to the event city, but then requires an electric or hybrid car to take said environmentalist to the event venue when in view of the public. When I got Robin Williams’ rider, I was very surprised by what I found. He actually had a requirement that for every single event or film he did, the company hiring him also had to hire a certain number of homeless people and put them to work. I never watched a Robin Williams movie the same way after that. I’m sure that on his own time and with his own money, he was working with these people in need, but he’d also decided to use his clout as an entertainer to make sure that production companies and event planners also learned the value of giving people a chance to work their way back. I wonder how many production companies continued the practice into their next non-Robin Williams project, as well as how many people got a chance at a job and the pride of earning an income, even temporarily, from his actions. He was a great multiplier of his impact. Let’s hope that impact lives on without him. Thanks, Robin Williams- not just for laughs, but also for a cool example.”

“I don’t believe in ‘best of’ books. It creates a hierarchy, and books are not hierarchy, books are medicine. We read what we need to heal us.”

Working hard is important, but there’s something that matters even more. Believing in yourself. Think of it this way: Every great wizard in history has started out as nothing more than we are now. Students. If they can do it, why not us?

a kiss on the neck + wolfstar for that prompt!
It was hot out for the first time today this year and I’m really just loving the warmth. And I also love neck kisses - combine those two things with wolfstar and you’ve got me in love. Hope you like it :)
“You’re so warm…”
Remus smiled as he felt Sirius’ breath on his neck, lips pressing to the top of his spine, teeth scraping lightly.
“Am I?”
“Uh-huh.” Sirius hummed lightly.
“Well,” Remus carefully dog-eared the page of his book, folding it closed and setting it on the seat cushion next to him. He raised himself onto his knees so he could turn around, forearms resting on the back of the couch, chin tilted up toward’s Sirius, “I am sitting in front of a fire.”
Sirius grinned down at him, hands coming up to push through Remus’ thick hair, curling them around his ears and coming to rest on either side of his neck, thumbs rubbing across Remus’ freckled cheekbones.
“’m just saying…” Sirius sank to his knees so he was level with Remus, folding his arms and resting his chin on his hands. They were so close that their noses were brushing, “It’s nice. Makes me just wanna…” Sirius smiled suggestively, eyes crinkling.
Remus could tell Sirius expected him to roll his eyes, to tell him to shut up. He usually would have… if it hadn’t been for the way the firelight was making Sirius’ skin look like a beautiful shade of caramel, and casting long shadows of his eyelashes across his cheeks. If it hadn’t been for the way the reflection of the orange flames looked golden next to the grey in his eyes eyes.
“What? You mean…” Remus leaned forward so that his lips were millimeters from Sirius’, and then turned at the last second, dragging them along his jaw, “something like this?” He murmured into Sirius’ ear.
“Or,” He pressed open mouthed kisses down the column of his neck, stopping only once to suck a bruise onto his skin making Sirius’ eyes slip closed and take his bottom lip between his teeth.
“This?” Remus mumbled.
He nosed along Sirius’ collar bones, smirking at the way Sirius’ head fell back, giving Remus easy access to any part of his neck that he liked.
He took a second to admire the blissed out expression on Sirius’ face, before returning to his work, leaving a few more love bites in his wake.
When he was satisfied, he kissed his way up the other side of Sirius’ throat until he reached his cheek, pressing a lingering kiss to the flushed, heated skin.
“I believe you’re the one who’s warm now..”
I DON’T CARE ANYMORE!
