WHAT IS SIN?
What is Sin: It is the rejecting or ignoring God in the world he created. It is rebelling against God, without giving any reference to Him. It is not doing what is required of God's Laws. This results in death and disintegration of all creation.
THE FIVE STAGES OF SIN:
THE LURE OF TEMPTATION: Satan uses intellectual arguments to appeal to certain aspects(Pride, sensuality, ego). He seeks to undermine God. Satan will attempt to make God seem unreasonable. This is a common tactic he will use. Satan will say God demands too many things and forbids too many more. Satan will ignore Free will when he does this. Satan will declare that God is not telling us the truth. Satan will argue that God is holding us back from becoming better.
ENGAGEMENT OF DESIRE: Temptation is a thought that either occurs to us or is presented to us by someone else. Satan engages in tempting thoughts to engage us in desire. Satan will then move from the thoughts of temptation to have it become an action(force/power). This stage is a bit more difficult. Intellectual response is not enough. Satan will engage in a way that the desires will be satisfied over what is true and what is right. Satan does not have to do anything but appeal to our pride, ego and sensuality.
CONCEPTION OF SIN: Once we are appealed to our desires, we start to take hold of the sin, possessing it. With this, pride and ego sets in and the idea to commit sin lays hold, a prideful and rebellious notion that "I will do what I want to do; I will decide if it is right or wrong; I am under no ones authority; I will do as I please; I answer to no one." Satan promises more, causing us to become ungrateful for what God has given us, yet Satan delivers again nothing. Satan gives us the idea that God cannot be trusted, God is to be questioned, and refuse God's goodness, and we start to abuse our liberty(Free Will).
THE BIRTH OF SIN: This is the actual engagement of the sin. Satan does not have to do anything again here. His job is finished. He sits back and watches us engage in the actual sin. e gave into the temptation, decided to commit the sin, and follow through with it.
SPIRITUAL DEATH: After a sin is committed, it causes us to die spiritually, no longer can we be innocent of the sin, for we know what we did. We become vulnerable, ashamed. Righteousness and integrity have died in our hearts because we did not trust God but rather Satan. But foremost, we trusted our own judgment. In essence, we have died spiritually and have embraced the Darkness. We also have to deal with the consequences of our sin. There is no escaping it, unless we turn from the sin and seek God for a pardon, Grace, and forgiveness.
