scfiya:
Everyone Safiya had asked had no idea what caused the Council to send that little morning message and every guard that she asked had either given her a bad excuse and ignored the rest of her attempts or fled her company as if they had committed a crime themselves. Guards knew something had gone down, the rest of them were in the dark —– and Safiya hated it.
Her forefinger and thumb rubbed together, her arms crossed over her chest as she waited for Zeira to come to her ( and hopefully, she would not keep her waiting for too long or not come at all ) knowing that if someone was going to tell her something, it was the ‘I never stop smiling’ guard.
A few moments after, the huntress heard a familiar —– and overly excited —– voice, which caused her to be slightly startled before she turned around to meet Zeira. Safiya’s eyebrows furrowed; she couldn’t understand why someone would tire their muscles out like that, always smiling, always happy.
“I need answers, Zeira. I want to know why I can’t go outside and do my job.”
Zeira had tried her best to befriend the woman over the years, but her attempts had failed--- they were getting better, inching slightly closer with each interaction, or maybe Safiya was just tolerating her. Zeira didn’t mind much, she often brushed hard words off her shoulder, and it was routine with the woman before her.
Nevertheless, Zeira kept a wide smile stretched across plump lips. She had an idea as to the girls sudden appearance, but she hoped to wait it out. She was sure she wasn’t supposed to be talking about that.
Not a moment later, her prediction came true. The older woman’s smile dropped, if even a millimeter, but she regained her posture almost immediately. “ Saf, you saw the alert. I’m sure it’s nothing, just have to wait it out ! “
You look a bit evil.
“They called her naive for believing in the good in people. But she was just a loving soul, who thought that even monsters needed someone, who truly believed, they were angels once and they can be it again. And yes, maybe that was naive, but this world needed people like her.”

‘ i tried not to upset you . ’
“That’s not true.” Zeira finally snapped, turning to the younger woman with sparkling tears welling in hazel eyes. Her lash line was moments away from spilling, and all she could muster out was, “That’s exactly what you were trying to do… because you can’t stand to see someone happy. Even yourself.”
‘ see if it helps , give it a week . ’
“Keeping my mouth shut won’t help anything, Safiya.” She huffed, but her tone stayed light and airy. “Plus, if I shut up, who would keep you from being a grumpy pants all the time?”
TIME: Afternoon (post plot drop) LOCATION: The guard’s headquarters STATUS: Closed, @zciras
Safiya felt trapped with her own mind as her only cell buddy and she didn’t like it. After being denied exit ( which she wasn’t expecting to get, not that much ) the Hunter knew she had to go somewhere else and get some answers. She didn’t care why they were locked in, Safiya only wanted to know why she couldn’t go out and escape to a place that made her feel insignificant enough not to care about her own thoughts.
Zeira —- she had to find her. Walking through the front door of the guards’ headquarters, she looked around. Safi could feel the guards’ eyes on her, wondering why she looked lost and out of place. After telling one of the guards who she was looking for, all she had to do now was wait for the older woman. And Safi hated waiting, she was far too restless.
Zeira didn’t exactly know how to take what she saw last night, a mix of confusion blended with surprise and a speck of disbelief. Rumors said it was a normal arrest, a petty thief, but that arrest didn’t seem like it was for a petty thief. Something more seemed to be going on, and Zeira didn’t know what to do with that information.
Her head had been reeling all morning, and it took about five times for her friend to grab her attention, mentioning Safiya was asking for her. Now that was a good distraction.
Hurrying out to find the younger woman, Zeira grew a smile and greeted the woman with a pep in her step. “Safiya ! What a surprise. “ She beamed another smile, hands clapping together softly as she asked, “What can I do for ya? “
