“I could always beat him up for you.” Tatum offered with a smirk, her words were light and anyone who didn’t know Tatum Clark would assume she was joking. She wasn’t. “One of these days you should just mind control him to punch himself in the face.” She suggested in a sigh of annoyance for her friend; as their conversation went on, the hall seemed to grow fuller with students only furthering her annoyance, “Come on, let’s just go somewhere else.” She paused, “We can brownies.” Tatum offered with a shrug as if getting high off junk food would make the entire Jed situation seem insignificant in comparison, “Well, I can make ‘em, you can eat the batter.”
“No.” Zelda’s response came a little too fast for her liking, and she slightly cringed. If there was one thing Zelda knew about Tatum, it was that she didn’t like being told no. “There’s no point, is all I’m saying. I’d bet money on you winning, totally, but he’s an asshole with pheromone manipulation. I just know he’d use it on you.” Jed was as much a sore loser as Tatum was, grossly so. If he thought he was losing in a fight to a girl then he’d definitely use his power, just to save face. Unable to keep from fidgeting, Zelda folded then unfolded her arms about five times before decidedly shoving her hands into her pockets. However, at the mentioning of brownies, Zelda’s brows perked up.
“That’s your solution for everything, I swear to God.” A tiny smirk tugged at the corners of her lips as their eyes met, feet already stepping in the direction of the kitchens. It was just as they turned the corner that Zelda decided to lop an arm over Tatum’s shoulders, as if it were a customary thing to do between two friends. She didn’t see why not. “You know, I’ve been thinking, I haven’t seen much of you or Ben lately -- and like, I totally know that that’s my fault because I’ve been busy with other shit. We should get together tonight. All three of us. Dunno where to, but who cares, right? Plus it’s kind of fun seeing you guys fight over who gets to sit in the front when we go out in my truck.”
(Livia) "You can see why I'm hesitant to try these brownies, can't you?"
“Nope, you’re going to have to spell it out for me.” Zelda turned her baseball cap backwards so that her face, and consequently her grin, was more easily observable. The brownies were cooked and already in the plastic container, but she was busy cleaning out the remnants of the mix from the bowl she’d poured the ingredients into earlier. Slicking a couple fingers with brownie mix, she lifted them high into the air, as if examining the bowl’s contents, grinning. “Besides, they’re healthy brownies.” The sides of her mouth were covered in chocolate as she glanced over at the woman; the look she gave was somewhat impish. “Seriously, try one. In fact, you can take a bunch and, you know, pass them around in the staff room.” She half gestured towards the batch with chocolate coated digits. “They look super gross right now, but trust me, after your third, you’ll be saying they’re the best brownies you’ve ever tasted.” Pausing to suck the mix off of her fingers, the tops of her eyelids half lowered as a telltale sign of how she was already affected by the cakes, she hummed. Her eyes abruptly widened when a thought came to mind, however, and she straightened in her seat. “You ever gotten high before?”
"Do I look like a foot rest to you?"
Ben’s question had appeared about three seconds after she’d dropped down onto the sofa, large pizza box in hand. Almost instinctively she’d kicked her legs up and across her best friend’s lap, as if she’d done it so often that to use him as her footrest these days was just about second nature to her. “Dude quit whining, it’s a small price to pay for some of my pepperoni pizza. Right?” Zelda didn’t even look up at him when she spoke, too excited to start tucking into the pizza to properly acknowledge his protests. Her eyes practically lit up with glee once she’d lifted the lid off of its box, revealing the freshly cooked, twenty four inch, stuffed crust, steaming circle of heaven. On cue, her stomach rumbled, and she slid a few fingers beneath a slice to start pulling it apart. “It’s not like my feet smell or anything. Tatum’s do though -- they’re so cheesy, I don’t get it. Probably the sports stuff.” As she spoke, she lifted the pizza slice and shoved it in his direction, a large grin across her face. She was already pulling up another piece, this one for herself, before her friend had even taken his from her hand. “I’m pretty sure I’m wearing your socks, actually.”
The yelling coming from the other corridor was just loud enough to overpower the music blasting through her headphones making it impossible for Tatum to ignore it. If she hadn’t recognize the voice as that of her best friend’s she would have went about her day, ducking by the kitchen to scrounge for leftover desserts and binge-watching The Walking Dead in her dorm. That was hypothetical, of course, because what stuck out to her was that it was Zelda’s voice, bringing her to round the corner and find the blonde alone in the corridor, her back facing a retreating figure that was blurry in the distance. Tatum’s eyebrows furrowed as she paused the obnoxiously loud sound of the Arctic Monkeys drifting from her earbuds, glancing at Zelda, “You okay? I heard weird noises.”
Zelda’s shoulders hunched slightly at the sound of Tatum’s voice behind her. She’d been staring so intently at the disappearing back of her ex-boyfriend that she’d failed to notice anyone else approach her. A frown immediately marred her brows as she turned to look at her friend, a small grimace across her lips. “Couldn’t be better.” The way she grumbled her answer opposed the definition of better completely. Zelda was so annoyed with Jed that she wasn’t even trying to hide it, and briefly lifted up her arms in exasperation. “Jed’s just -- being Jed, except worse. Jed squared.” Glancing at the random students who walked by them, Zelda stepped closer to Tatum and attempted a tight smile. Eventually. She didn’t want her best friend thinking this was bothering her too much, lest she later find out that there’d been a fight between Tatum Clark and Jed Williams. “It’s whatever, though. Asshole isn’t over me, I guess. Which, you know, I can understand why. I’m a fucking delight.”
“Leave me alone, man. I don’t want anything to do with you.” Zelda put a hand out to stop Jed from getting any closer, cursing when she was suddenly pulled back. “Jed!” She raised her voice, turning around to face him just as he walked off in the opposite direction. She was left standing in the middle of the corridor, exasperated and a little helpless.
"....Why is there a vine of me singing in the shower?"
Zelda continued to fill the small, plastic bags with weed, making sure to put the right amount into each. Bagging marijuana to sell to people was probably the only thing she was extremely pedantic over, not to mentions serious, so she took a while to respond to her girlfriend. Zelda was a woman of many talents, or so she liked to think, but multi-tasking wasn’t one of them. Even she could admit to that. Zip-locking the bag she’d been stuffing, she set it into the box and looked up. “Uhh, why shouldn’t there be a vine of you singing in the shower?” Zelda shrugged. She wasn’t about to say how she’d nearly died from laughter at Tatum’s attempts to hit Mariah Carey’s high notes. Tatum genuinely thought she could hold a tune, and Zelda wasn’t in the business of crushing dreams. Unless those dreams were stupid, and belonged to someone like James, or Felix, or, if she was feeling particularly suicidal, Zoe’s. Not that she ever got very far with the latter. “Besides! It’s gone viral. People fucking love it. They’re even making remixes of it. Look at this one, it’s fucking hilarious.” Pulling her mobile out from her back pocket, she pulled up a vine and scooted over on the sofa to make room for her girlfriend. Zelda was already grinning even before the video had loaded. “You can thank me later.”
"I love you, asshole."
It was a surprise to hear her say it, but a pleasant one all the same. Zelda stopped her placement of small kisses to Tatum’s stomach, just beneath her belly button, to look up at her girlfriend. She pulled the duvet back so that she could see her better, one palm still resting flat against the other girl’s midriff. Maybe it was hard to see in the dark, but Zelda’s eyes had grown significantly brighter, and a content smile tugged at one side of her mouth, the look undeniably smug. Tatum didn’t say the words ‘I love you’ often, at least not as often as Zelda did, so on the rare occasion that she did say them (those occasions were actually becoming more often the longer they were together), Zelda’s heart squeezed a little. Her mood piqued. Turning her head to place a slow kiss to the inside of her girlfriend’s thigh, she hummed once. “Love you too.” Zelda said, mouth still pressed against Tatum’s leg. A second later and she was leaning back a little to look at her girlfriend, the side of her head resting where she’d originally placed the kiss. “I haven’t even started eating you out yet and you’re already telling me you love me.” Zelda’s grin broke out across her face as she idly smoothed her fingers over Tatum’s belly. “Wow.” Her brows lifted. “I must have kissed your stomach really good.”

"I'm glad you're happy. You know that, right? I am actually happy for you."
Scarlett didn’t need to say anymore than that. Zelda knew what, who, they were talking about. She continued to play her console, eyes trained intently on the blue hedgehog that was rushing through gold rings. She’d played this level about a hundred times by now; by this point it was just a matter of moving her fingers and letting all her muscle memory do the rest. Still, she put her utmost focus into it, like she didn’t find the game easy. It felt simpler than turning to Scarlett and talking about Marielle. Scarlett understood, even promised to keep their secret for them, but Zelda still felt awkward bringing the relationship up around her. She flushed, chewing on her bottom lip for a silent moment as she thought about whether to answer her cousin or not. Maybe her initial response didn’t show it, but she was grateful her cousin was so understanding, (or at least tried to be -- she didn’t think she could say the same of anyone else if they found out). Zelda had the urge to talk about Marielle all the time (and if she’d been able to get away with it, she knew she would have), but even now, when she had someone she could do that with, she couldn’t. Wouldn’t. Not only did it seem wildly unfair on Marielle’s part, who had no one to talk to about Zelda, it was their secret. Their relationship. It was, by all means, the only thing they could call theirs. Zelda wanted to tell Scarlett how amazing Marielle was; wanted her to see it too. Instead, she remained silent. Eventually she completed the level on her game, and set down the controller in her lap, a hand coming up to rub the side of her face. It was only then that she realised she’d been crying a little. No sobbing, or sniffling, just watery eyes, as if her body so greatly felt the relief of Scarlett’s affirmation that its natural response was to let out all of her stress through tears. Zelda grew a darker shade of pink, and wiped at the bottoms of her eyes, a little laugh escaping her. “Thanks.” She looked at her cousin. “I mean it.”
