Brand new photographs of the Romanovs during the Tercentenary tour
The photos depict the Romanov family during the Tercentenary celebrations tour in 1913, and include a lovely photograph of the Grand Duchesses relaxing and smiling.
To my knowledge, these photographs have not been previously published. The largest of the photographs are 9 x 11cm approximately. Each lot of photos have been kept safely stored in photograph wallets.
I found these being auctioned on eBay by Bibelots London, an antique dealer. Numerous other photographs, letters, and ephemera relating to the Romanov family are also listed for sale. The photographs are being sold as a set of two lots, listed at £1,250.00 and £950.00 respectively.
The photographs are from the collection of Princess Nadine Romanovskya, who married the Romanov children's paternal cousin, Prince Andrei Alexandrovich, in 1942. Born Nadine Sylvia Ada McDougall, she was a descendent from the Scottish Clan McDougall, and met Prince Andrei - then in exile and widowed - at Balmoral Castle. The couple had one child, Olga Andreevna, born in 1950. Princess Nadine passed away in 2000, aged 92.
Also featured are photographs of regimental parades, and Countess Anastasia 'Nastenka' Vasilievna Hendrikova with Baroness Sophia 'Isa' Karlovna Buxhoeveden.
